Just turn off auto-recharge in the dashboard? Never been charged.

      • +1

This. On my 6th Kogan SIM.

        • is there any way to deactivate each sim as you activate the new one? there's a question while activation asking if i have more than 4 or more active pre-paid services or not

        • +1

@yummycoot: I am not sure that is actually enforced, but I just call them and cancel SIMs as I go.

    • +2

      Not the case for me.
"Remove schedule" (i.e. auto recharge) and "remove credit card details" is sufficient for me.

  • Right on time.. Thanks for the deal

    • I'm looking for a deal for holidays in December, hoping there are some christmas stocking filler deals myself!

  • I need to upload 1TB data to cloud and my ADSL 2+ is so slow and I am using local storage (not good option). Can I buy 31 of these and upload my data?

    • you need to activate them and they will be different numbers each time.

  • Man, these sounds too good to be true. It's the only reason I'm not on kogan yet, even though it'll help alot.

  • In a dual sim phone, would the 3g slot affect call quality/reception?

    • +1

I have been working at the 26th floor of a building in Melbourne for 8weeks and just discovered recently that I get better reception if I downgrade to 3g.!

      • +1

Haha that's odd. Ok, then I'll dual sim for the data. Thanks.

    • +2

      Should have no impact.

What Snoovey says, from the little I know of how mobile technology works, doesn't sound entirely unusual. If I'm wrong, feel free to correct me (anyone).

More people use 4G/LTE these days so it's more than likely that where available, the traffic on 4G/LTE is heavier and more likely to be "clogged" than 3G. So when Snoovey is making an active decision to use 3G where 4G/LTE is available, (s)he gets generally better reception due to less competition (i.e. less other people) on 3G.

Where 3G is the best available though it should be a different story.

wtf i just bought this for 4.90…

    • +1

      You are not alone..

      I am here with you..

      • -1

im going to try and email them to see if they can do anything about it. I have yet to use the code

    • +1

I know how you feel. But the $4.90 can be activated until Jan 2019. This one needto be activated by 11/10/2018.

Question - Can thi be activated while overseas. As I am travelling and want to activate close to expiry date?

      • +1

Yes it can be activated while overseas, did that when I was in NZ 3 months ago.

        • Thanks mate

        • @amsaini15: just to further clarify it can only be activated while overseas but can’t be used. I had to do that coz my voucher was getting expired. When I reached back home the sim was working fine.

        • yes, to activation, but no roaming with Kogan.
activate in the departure lounge and you'll have service when you land back in au

        • @kelasen:
That's great to know. I'm planning to pass one Kogan sim to my friend in Malaysia as he's visiting in late October. Not working overseas is fine, as long as it works when he lands in Oz. Was the activation process straightforward? did you have to communicate with Kogan team? any info appreciated.

        • +1

@oldrocker: Here are my 2 cents: if they’ve been to Oz before on same visa etc. then it should be fine (or even if they are Oz resident) however if they’ve never been here and coming here for the first time then ID verification might not work until they register their landing (with immigration).

        • @kelasen:
          Thanks!

        • @kelasen:

if they’ve been to Oz before on same visa

You can't use the same visa to enter twice, can you? Do you mean same passport?

however if they’ve never been here and coming here for the first time then ID verification might not work until they register their landing (with immigration).

Interesting. So they actually can't activate it until they technically go through immigration here then..?

    i still got 3 left….

  • +5

32GB, 4G speeds, 98c. better than the NBN and its mobile.

  • Duh I forgot about the TPG free 4G trial coming up very soon. Guess I will probably get an actual mobile modem by then.

    • TPG launching 4G mobile service in Q3 - Q4
No definite start date - so sometime from now to end of year, but maybe not…

Expect that will likely be cancelled after last week's announced merger of TPG & Vodafone, primarily so TPG gets the Vodafone mobile network! Will need to be approved.

Doubt TPG will proceed with its plans to develop its own network when it just acquired a fully developed one.

So no need for such an attractive promotion to attract customers to its network as it already has
      Vodafone customers😢

      • That's sad, I've been looking forward to this… You'd think they knew about the merger before they put out that proposal tho. Then again it's probably typical corporate brokenness. Thanks for the info :)

        • Even if they did know the merger was possible, they would make sure others didn't😉

Still needs ACCC approval for $15B deal.

  • What happens after the $30, how much is it going forward?

    • Don't you mean 30 days?

    • $49.90 if you dont disable auto recharge

  • +1

Can someone clarify this for me. It says they have to be activated by the expiry date 11/10/18. That's just over a month away.
So I managed to buy 2 under the same email address. Which I was pleased with.
I am going into hospital on Saturday 15th for a month. So regardless of what time I use the first one, even if the months not up, I will have to ativate the other one by 11/10/18. Will I then need two phones or just wait till the first on runs out.

I'm assuming 30 day expiry once activated. How would you guys best utilise these in my scenario? Hope this is not too confusing. Just wanr to make the most out of these sims. Thanks in advance.

    • activate 1st sim as soon as you get the sim.

on 10 October activate the second sim, and

throw away the first sim and just use the second in your device.

  • Saturday 15th September I should have stipulated.

  • +1

activate 1st sim as soon as you get the sim.
on 10 October activate the second sim, and
throw away the first sim and just use the second in your device.

  • The last date for activation to get the 32GB is 11 Oct. If you activate after this date, how many GB and calls/sms will you get then?

    • +1

      Answer: 0.
Payment Code expires on that date, so need to pay normal price to activate on any chosen plan after that date. So you just get a $2 SIM for your 98c.
There may be another deal by then.

      • thanks mate!

  • How can you use more than one of these? seen as it new customers only.

    • A new customer per Kogan Mobile definition is a new service (number), or a number that has not been with Kogan in the last 30 (or 40 - disputed) days.

The 30/40 day thing is what is reported by other Ozbargain members.

  • Looks like you dont get the sim card with this voucher only? previously it would add the sim to the cart but now it doesnt and adding it manually costs $2.

Has anyone got the sim card with this deal yet?

Lucky I have a few spare sims lying around somewhere.

    • +1

      SIM is included for free

    • READ Kogan's offer - states includes SIM quite a few times!
Comes with a FREE SIM Card!
      Free SIM card included
Get a FREE SIM card with this purchase
Free SIM Starter Pack - Universal Tri-fit SIM delivered straight to your doorstep at no extra cost.
      …hard to miss all those??

Confirmed - I received SIM in mail.

Yes, used to automatically add SIM to order, just now included in offer. If you manually added a SIM, it charged for it.

  • Having issues activating the voucher - says invalid voucher.

I have activated a few of the cheap mobile sims lately.

    Any workaround?

    • Keep at least 30 days’ gap in between port out and port in to Kogan.

      • Hi, will do.

Have to purchase an expensive sim from wollies tomorrow, $20 for 15gb ;-(

  • im geting invalid voucher.

Im porting from Catch expired last sept 17.
The phone number was previously with kogan but its been 30 days by sept 18.

I dont see any chat support on kogan website.

How to go about this issue ?

    • Kogan used to provide email support but not any more. I would suggest to call them at 1300 056 426.

      Good luck.

      • But my Catch prepaid sim already expired so no load.

This is the reason why im porting to kogan.

was that a free to call number ?

  • I'm also getting Invalid Voucher and I'm not even trying to port. I'm sure I haven't used the voucher. Think I'll need to give them a ring to get some support.

    • That’s so strange. Please let us know how you go. Good luck.

      • Forgot to report back sorry.

As I said I knew I hadn't used it. Read out the codes to a Kogan rep who also said they are valid. He activated them for me manually over the phone.

I suspect what caused it was me "testing out" the voucher codes - because I copy and pasted a whole bunch of Kogan codes that I bought to verify they were still valid. The first ~5 showed as valid, then further ones were Invalid. I then went back and tried one of the first 5 I used (which was previously valid) and it was now showing invalid. Strange.

        • A ha. Thanks for sharing. Lesson learned, we shouldn’t play around with codes.

  • +2

Reminder that this needs to be used/activated today!
