    What network does Logan use?

    • +46

      Logan uses Podafone ;)

      • eww my podafone is no good at my home

    • +1
      • Kogan->Logan
        Vodafone->Wodafone

        • +13

All my Indian mates are on Wodafone

    • You'd have to ask him, I can't find any specs on the X-Phone

    • +1

      Bogan

  • +4

    Great for a tourist

    • how many can you buy?
got family visiting and if i could buy 4 at this price that would be good

EDIT: looks like you can only purchase 1

      • +1

        Limit 1 per customer

        I'm guessing 1 per email address/transaction

        • +2

@yopmail is accepted, so unlimited, insecure addresses without registerng.
I use this as Logan passes on your email for spamming.

        • +18

@username02: Alternatively, gmail will allow you to add things to your address with a +concatenation, so you can register as many times as you want with the same email address, and you can identify who sold your address if you get spam.

I.e: If you email address is [email protected], then you can use [email protected], or [email protected], [email protected] etc. All of those emails will just go to [email protected]

        • +1

          @macrocephalic: never knew this. Gold!

        • +2

@macrocephalic: I did this for a while and loved the idea, but here are the negatives:

          1. Using your email as a login - you have to remember exactly how you put it. For example, for something like ozbargain, maybe I could do [email protected]. I'd need to remember that I put illumination+ozb and not illumination+ozbargain. Small annoyance, but it's something.
          2. More annoyingly is when/if you're asked for your email to verify your identity. Did I put [email protected] or illumination+ozb? You have to say both to "cover your bases". Again, not a huge problem but a small annoyance.
          3. Quoting your email on the phone - sometimes people get confused. Not that there's anything wrong, but it sometimes prompts questions.
          4. Some forms simply don't allow "+" character so it's not an option

Solution to the #1&2 would be to use a password manager where you can have this info saved. #3doesn't need a solution as it's not technically a problem. Don't know of any solution for #4. Can't use it. Stick to dots.

Oh - dots - [email protected] is the same as [email protected]. As are [email protected] and [email protected]. Doesn't matter where the dot goes.

        • @username02: Looks like Logan has stuck!! ha ha ha..

        • @macrocephalic:
You’ll get duplicate SPAM, one per address.

        • +2

@illumination: I use Yahoo Mail which lets me create a totally different alias than the original email account. You then add another word to the alias to form a totally new email address. I've been using something like [email protected] for the last deal and used a new [email protected] for this deal. My Yahoo email address is [email protected] and not [email protected] for those wondering.

      • +4

Last time you could make multiple single puchases. Same email and payment method

        • +1

          yes. I can confirm this.
Bought 8 cards with the same info.

        • @bc33:

but its for new customers only so you did this against 8 different email addresses or same 1 for the 8 cards?

        • +1

@prankster: he was just confirming my comment that stated just that!

        • @Snoovey:

ah gotcha sorry half asleep, going to order alot of this then :)

      • Just 1 per order. Order 4 and your right

      • You can purchase as many as you like using same email address, but only one at time. I did it before, but not this time.

    • +3

      Great for any human

    • Great for livestreaming.

    • Can this sim be activated by someone overseas? I'm thinking of getting some and passing them onto mates so they can activate just before they leave for a holiday in Oz.

  • +1

are you considered as a new customer if you had one before but ported out?

    • +4

You are, but I believe the cool-off period may be 30 days according to comments in the previous deal.

      • +4

I'm cooling off for 3 months with this deal.

        • My CC 3-month deal end in a couple of weeks, so this Kogan deal is perfect timing.

        • Perfect timing as the Catch connect deal is on again. Switch for a month and profit.

        • Same here

  • +10

Feel sorry for the idiots who payed $5

    • +3

But longer expiry which may be helpful

    • But they got a longer period before they had to activate

    • +4

      That's me.

    • +2

Complete (and happy) idiot here, with nice long expiry date

    • Raises hand

    • +1

      Bastard.

    • Guess it mayd sense at the time

  • What is everyone’s experience with using these voucher codes to add to existing customers as recharge credit?

I bought a few last time deal and yet to use it but all the emails they send with the code include both new customer and existing customer blurbs and how to add the voucher for each, so I would presume as long as auto recharge is turned off, existing customers can add this to recharge?

    • Try recharging with the ones you bought last time and let us know, thanks.

      • I have a few months left of my current non Kogan plan, hence why I am asking the question so I know whether to buy more or not.

  • Can you have an active number with Kogan and still be considered as a new customer if you opted for a new number during activation? I have one from the previous same $0.98 deal with same expiry already, but having an extra 32G data might be handy.

    • I'm not sure about that. I usually let mine lapse before I activate the next SIM. You can always try it out. It's only $1, and it will definitely work if you activate it once your active number lapses. Nothing to lose really…

      • That's a good point, thank you and it's done :)

    • You can.

Source: Tried it personally and it works.

      • +1

        Thanks for illuminating me :)

  • +3

    32gb for 98c what a bargain

  • +3

    Excellent.

I use these along with a 4G Wifi Dongle to get internet at the family holiday house - so much better than paying for a fixed connection that remains unused most of the time.

The key is to order one or two more than you need (especially at this price), so the next time this deal rolls around, you have a spare SIM ready to pop in straight away instead of having to wait a week for the SIM to turn up in the mail. The voucher usually comes through in a few short minutes. I usually keep a spare SIM and 4G dongle in the car, so that if I have an urgent need for data while I'm on the road, it only takes a few short minutes to get it up and running. Even if this deal isn't going, there's usually a $4.90 deal for 32GB which isn't too bad if you need the data.

    • Interested in doing this - what dongle do you recommend?

      • Telstra 4GX Wifi Plus (Huawei E8372) does the trick - but need to buy unlocked version from eBay so you can use these discounted SIMs.

Optus E3372 also works and comes unlocked. But this one doesn't broadcast a wifi hotspot like the Telstra one does.

        • Hey smiley-k, I just bought a Huawei E5573 Modem online but I don't think it will arrive 'unlocked', is there any way I can unlock it myself? I bought it off the jenee mobile site.

        • @jiminycrickets9000: Optus E5573 comes unlocked by default even though it's not advertised.

Sorry I don't know how to unlock E5573 - anyone else who might know?

        • @jiminycrickets9000: Optus E5573 comes unlocked by default even though it's not advertised.

Sorry I don't know how to unlock E5573 if it's locked - anyone else who might know?

      • Telstra 4GX Wifi

I got two of these a while back when Woolies were selling them for $10. Unlocked them with a $2 code from eBay. Keep one in my work bag and one in the car along with a spare Kogan SIM.

      • I'm pretty sure Kogan is on the Vodafone network.
So I got a Vodafone pocket wifi device from Big W a few weeks ago when they were half price, $29.
They go for half price very now and then at Big W, Au Post, Coles, etc.

    • +6

I use mine on my luxury yacht.

      • +1

hardly get any decent reception with mine, maybe i sailed too far? what dongle do you use?

        • +9

I've only got a small 4g dongle, hence the big luxury yacht.

        • +3

@WatchNerd: d*mn, i am the opposite, i got a big *ss dongle but small luxury yacht, maybe that's the problem

    • +1

Voucher expires 11/10/2018 though. So you don't have the luxury of keeping spares around.

      • the spare sim cards, because the last time I got this deal it took them 3 weeks to mail out a SIM

      • Spare SIM cards. They don't expire (in my experience) and aren't locked to the voucher.

The SIM cards can take a while to be delivered, but the vouchers are sent via email and only take a few minutes. So if you have a spare SIM lying around, you can purchase this deal, sign up with the emailed voucher, pop the SIM card in and be online in under 15 minutes. If you have to wait for a SIM card, it could take over a week (sometimes longer).

Personally, I think it's worth spending an extra $1 if you're using these for emergency data in order to be able connect straight away. Emergency data is useless if you have to wait a week to use it.

    • I just stick the sim in an old unused "small" mobile (I keep it charged) and use it when needed as an access point. Works well. Can also use it for calls should the need arise. Must keep an eye out for a cheapie dongle (with a Nic port would be even nicer)

      • Used to do that, but I find the dongles have better reach and reliability and don't struggle being used concurrently with multiple devices.

  • +28

The nicest prepaid company EVER !!!!!!!! If you agree, + me

    • +1

Be careful, I got sent to the penalty box for a week for saying that and didn't even know it was a rule.

      • -1

        Don't + me .. i was just joking .. too much coffee.

      • Everything in the garden's lovely. This deal is particularly good value.

    • +10

so I just + you, let's wait and see if you go to penalty box… muahahahaha..

  • +1

The biggest plus for me is having free visual voicemail via Vodafone. Something the other telcos charge for

    • Not the 98c ?

    • +2

I had to look up visual voicemail.

      For anyone else curious, Wikipedia.

    • +1

Wait a sec. So Kogan has Visual voicemail??

I actually don't think I've ever even seen or heard of it in Australia.. or anywhere for that matter.

    • +1

      What's a voicemail?

  • +1

Looks like my plan from the previous $5 deal was bumped up from 23gb to 32gb as well. Check your accounts people!

    • Kogan has increased included data from 23GB to 32GB on EXTRA LARGE plan.

  • -1

Existing customers can make use of this or not?

There's no reason you couldn't add this code to an existing service, right?

    • -2

Just do it, live outside the boundaries, be a rebel.

Yes, sorry, just spoilt your you brief foray as a grown up. Try again later

Edit: just missed your edit, buy as many as you like but you will need a dual SIM phone or change your number all the time, like my Tinder dates 😀

      • Yeah on that theme of adult behaviour, much as I love a bargain I'd also love to avoid an extra bit of plastic in my mailbox if there's no tangible benefit to anyone (not even to Kogan if it's not activated).

        • -2

Since when was 32GB not a benefit?
I would like to send you a packet of rubber to your mailbox to help humanity if plastic offends you

        • +1

@Snoovey: The data's no benefit if an existing customer is unable to make use of it and if you need to be educated as to what harm the untold tonnage of plastic produced does to the environment then I guess that'd be the explanation for your dumb-ass reply.

        • @0jay: I haven't weighed a Sim card before but I think you would would need to order quite a few to achieve tonnage. You could try Telstra pre-paid because their Sims come in an A4 plastic bag. If you are a big nob that could be put to good use, maybe.

        • -1

@Snoovey: Lemme see, if everyone old enough to activate a SIM in Australia thought a SIM card was of negligible weight that would add up to how many kilos of plastic.. hard to say really, though it's looking like you may need a parent or guardian to activate your card for you.

Aggregate weight new to you is it, child? Allgood they'll get to it in high school arithmetic.

        • -1

          @0jay:
In this instance it is about a business building their customer base. Yes it would be nice if we could translate that to instant profit without the need to buy a new sim card. BUT, that is why this is a deal for OzBargain, a quirk in capitalism let's bargain hunters benefit. Shit, I hate Sodastream benefiting from the theft of Palestinian land but I accept it and let others enjoy their offers on this site. Good luck driving your plastic free car that didn't need 10 ton of Co2 to make the metal frame.
BTW, what is the agregate weight of sim card purchases in Australia that you have some inside insite on, teacher of children?

        • -1

@Snoovey: This is not about Kogan's business model.

My comment pertained to a reluctance on my part to order a $1 item on the offchance I may enjoy some marginal benefit given the little bit of extra waste it brings into my sphere. I prefer to minimise my footprint when I can. I'm worse than I'd like to be, not as bad as some.

You wanna make light of that have at it but you're only making yourself look like an ass.

        • -2

@0jay: bravo on your integrity but you might think deeper teacher about how you nylon clothing has a much bigger environmental impact than a Sim card. Sorry for my rant but this is a bargain forum and some of us are intelligent too

        • @Snoovey: I'm not presuming to prescribe appropriate behaviour to others, nor do any of my posts suggest anything of the kind. You've obligated me to clarify my position. Why you reckon I'm decked out in nylon's beyond me though I'd guess it might be the reason you're sliding so rapidly into parody.

If you think I've a mind to get into an environmental discussion on OzB you're barking up the wrong tree. I asked a question to better inform a purchasing decision. No real idea how that's in conflict with a bargain hunters website.

  • +1

Expiration is a bummer but still worth it seeing as 4G burner SIMs are currently my home internet (thanks nbn). The last Kogan vouchers have expiry out to 28/02/2019.

    • You can still theoretically get about 2 months of use out of these though. And by then, there'll probably be another sale.

Even if you're a heavy user, you can get 500GB of data for just over $15, which is fantastic (the downside being that you have to activate and swap SIMs every 32GB)

  • +4

this deal is back with an even bigger data amount!

Both deals are for the same Kogan Mobile Prepaid Plan: EXTRA LARGE. Same date to use voucher.

Kogan has since increased included data from 23GB to 32GB on EXTRA LARGE plan.

So activating the expired last 98c deal or this will now give 32GB. Confirmed as 32GB

    Ordered another👍
