    Yeah nice! This one?

I'm still using an EGO Mower and it's fantastic however I don't need such a massive beast of a mower for our tiny yard so I've been thinking about bringing the mower into line with all my other Ozito stuff… but the new Steel Deck model is probably more my cuppa tea. Just waiting for Einhells proper Line Trimmer to be released as an Ozito product and then I'll grab one of those too :)

    • Oh cool that Einhall is what I have waiting for. Even emailed Ozito to see if there was a Power X Line trimmer on the way, their reply: "We currently have one in the works and are hoping to bring it out late 2018/early 2019"

    • +2

Yeah the lack of a proper line trimmer is the one thing holding me back from going ozito for my next cordless mower. That steel brushless one looks very good.

Im really bumned out I missed out on the AEG 58V deals a couple of months ago. OzBargainers were getting all brushless 58V line trimmer, blower, chainsaw, mower and 2 big batts for $860.

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/378648

      • $760 I think via some means.. there was a second post for it

I actually signed up to respond to this comment. I purchased the blower / grass trimmer combo about 12 months ago and after realising how useless the grass trimmer head was I decided to convert it to an auto-feed line trimmer head from an old 240v Ozito line trimmer I had laying around and much to my surprise it was a direct bolt on. Obviously I have voided my warranty but it works far better now then it did with the plastic blades.

      • Yeah, nice hack Gatto… and welcome to OzBargain :)

  • +1

    Yup that one!

  • They also had a combo kit with same brushless mower plus line trimmer , blower, and hedge trimmer 1x 3ah and 1 x 1.5ah battery and fast charger for $239
Plenty of them aswell but I didn’t need the line trimmer or blower… I need a hedge trimmer.

    • i need a blower, happy to pay $30 for the blower without the battery if you are in VIC

    • Hi Veedub, was the trimmer the one with solid blades or a line trimmer?

I need the blower and line trimmer but their current trimmer blower combo had the crappy grass trimmer blade thing which I've read up is useless.

      Pm me :)

good price, is this store wide? hate it how Bunnings don't match with themselves.

    • Based on previous deal of the same product, it looks more store specific.

      • Slightly different product though, different batteries… but yeah, I know what you mean.

        • +1

My bad, just realise they aren't the same product.

But yeah, Bunnings likes to have Store Specific Promotions.

    • +2

Normally stores just mark down prices when they want to clear stock, it's rarely ever planned.

  • +1

I suspect only at Artarmon because they are moving a heap of stuff around the warehouse.
So lots of weird bargains to be spotted.
Like I picked up a pipe hose reel for $5 (rrp$59) albeit the box was a bit shabby.

    • +1

Thanks VeeDub, Artarmon's on the way home!

  • +1

Note only 300mm cutting width. You'd get plenty of exercise going back and forth only cutting 10 to 11 inch strips (with overlap) on most 150m2 lawns (its "up to" capacity). I've got plenty of Ozito tools but this sounds as useful for most people as the plastic-bladed Ozito trimmer that I got sucked into buying. The rest of my Ozitos are great - but doesn't mean they all are…

    • +1

Yeah, give them time though… the Ozito Power-X-Change range has improved a heck of a lot over the last 12 months. Their redesigned Circular Saw is so much better than the original, they now have a few different batteries & chargers to choose from plus have introduced a Multi-Tool, a Compound Mitre Saw, a new Steel Deck mower and from all reports a 'real' Line Trimmer is very close to being released too. Considered toys by many but I love my Ozito stuff. Amazing value for money and the lineup looks to be improving as time flies by.

      • +1

I agree re the Ozito Power-X-Change range. I have orbital sander, detail sander, pole saw, rotary hammer drill, blower vac and a grass trimmer along with 5 batteries and 2 chargers. I'd happily have a lot more Ozitos but already had other brands of other cordless hand tools (several drills/drivers, jigsaw, blower, edger, hedge trimmer etc). However, that doesn't make the plastic-bladed grass trimmer good - nor, do I suspect, would a mower with a 300mm cutting width to be "good" IMO for most people.

        • +1

Yep, that bladed trimmer should never have been designed or released! I've stayed clear of that thing but will probably jump at the real Line Trimmer when it's available.

        • @SteveAndBelle: always wondered if there is a hack to mid this. Steel wire blade retrofit perhaps.

        • @fatty: Yeah, looks like Gatto figured out a decent hack above but I think I'll just wait until the proper Line Trimmer is released as it's Brushless and takes twin Batteries so just seems far more capable all-round.

      • a Compound Mitre Saw

If you or anyone had a review of this, that would be fantastic.

        • I don't have one… yet :) Agreed, a review would be good.

      • a battery operated Compound Mitre Saw? That sounds interesting. Not sure how many cuts you'd get before it became shoddy tho.

  • +1

True, but I only have a small front and back yard. Plus I need the exercise
    If I had a real backyard, it’ll be a Victa 2 stroke!!!

And I’d mow a cricket strip just for summer time fun.

    • Me..lol.. with the old school Victa 2 stroke.. it's such a beast. Great compression and runs so well. Although I am conscious of how loud it is compared to my neighbours newer 4 bangers.

    • And plus the Ozito mowers are easy to move around and carry from front to back lawns. I'm on a small block with narrow paths along the side so a narrow light mower is a lot better for me.

  • Brushless implies other mowers used brushed motors. Is that really true, or just BS like "gluten free" rice noodles?

Brushed is fine for a drill, but I'd be surprised if mowers used them.

    • Yeah, their crappier & possibly older models such as this are brushed.

    • +1

Yeah I have this bad boy and its brushed.
Though does the job well and haven't had any dramas with it.

  • +1

Brushed and brushless electric motors are like chalk and cheese.
Dyson uses brushless in pretty much all their products.
Brushless seem to be higher revving, longer run time and higher torque, at least when I was racing RC cars. Brushed and brushless were 2 completely different classes.

    • +3

Brushless Motors are also far more energy efficient so offer a lot more bang for buck. I was into RC during the brushed/brushless crossover approx. 10-12 years ago and one of the big issues was cost due to the extra complexity of the ESC however those days are well gone as although still not as cheap it seems a brushless motor & esc are very affordable these days. Was very proud of my Brushless conversion though… probably close to $2k in upgrades and crazy LiPo batteries and I had myself a sleeper Tamiya AWD capable of 101kph! A few years later and you could buy a Traxxas RTR off the shelf capable of higher speeds for a quarter of the price… hence why I got out of that hobby ;)

  • I am after a cordless mower…

Can anyone compare the quality and performance of ozito and Ryobi battery powered range? I already have a couple of Ryobi cordless products, but not so invested that I couldn't switch over.

    • +3

It depends on how much grass you have to cut before purchasing a battery powered lawn mower. The Ozito range is more "entry level" compared to the other brands but they do have the cheaper options in terms of buying power gardening equipment. Ryobi have both 18v and 36v range depending on what you need. Their 18v range is compatible with other tools e.g. reciprocating saws, drills etc. Their 36v range is a lot stronger with about double the performance of that the 18v range. Although, one set-back is the 36v is only in power gardening equipment. When buying battery powered mowers, you should consider how much lawn you have to cut and expect to pay a bit more than petrol. Although, it is cheaper to buy petrol now, in the future it does cost more to maintain and look after. One more thing to add is to try and get brushless mowers; the motor will run better and last longer compared to brushed. Hope this helped :)

      • Thanks for the info. I have a pretty small yard, so could go with either. Just depends how many batteries and chargers I want lying around.

      • I've got a Ryobi 16v mower, entry level. Had it over 2 years now. No maintenance required. I have a 600m2 house block so about 300m2 yard + nature strip. can do the whole lot if the grass isn't long. If it is long, it will do the back or front with a few engine cut outs due to not enough grunt when cutting through 4-6 inch high grass ;)

    • Check Gumtree/Cashies Webshop for the Ryobi stuff there's always bargains to be had and sometimes even new stuff people are selling from part of a kit.

  • Is everyone on electric mowers now? I'm still using a petrol one but that might be on its last legs.

    • +2

depends on size of yard , if inner city on small block battery is fine , just charge and mow, and it’s light so easy to store and no petrol smell or leak if hung on wall.

my yard is 80m2 and 16m2 nature strip …..welcome to inner city living.

  • +1

They don’t wanna know about it at Kotara NSW store

  • I went to Altona store to have a look. It was marked as $229. The guy walking down the aisle said that he will price match it but in the end his boss asked him not to price match it. I was disappointed especially when they advertise their cheapest prices and still refuse to price match their own store.

    • thing is bunnings policy isn’t price match ….it’s price match less 10% …..if stores followed that policy each price match would be 10% less than previous store …..you need to hope the store is also doing a clearance or that price is at all stores.

  • +1

Yeah sorry but as others have said Bunnings refusal to honour their own pricing even when given irrefutable proof is unacceptable for a wholly owned company in 2018. I know they can do this if they want and claim it's a certain store only deal or whatever - but it pisses people off & really isn't something that makes sense to consistently refuse to do.

Is a crap policy and just annoys customers no end as their rationale for not doing generally (as I concede their might be geunuine clearance stock in very few rare occasions) is BS. If it can be sold for $xx at a certain store I'm finding it hard to believe it's 'not viable' to be sold for $xx also at your/my local store.

Lift your game Bunnings - Masters (alas) might be gone but you'll still lose revenue by sticking your head in the sand on such basic stuff.

    • Losing revenue to which companies except maybe to Aldi occasionally? It is you either buy or don't buy and if you buy there aren't many choices out there other than Bunnings.

    • +3

Bunnings don't price match stock liquidations. That is what is happening (for whatever reason) at store level. For example, a small format store may have three chairs left over from a promo and 'clearance' them for $10 each whilst at the same time a large format store has 420 and are able to sell them at their retail price of $40. Just because one store is liquidating their stock doesn't mean it is viable to do so at each store.

      • Iv never had that proble at any Bunnings if I have a pic of clearance item with price or a receipt
Iv alway got a price match at another Bunnings all the managers or stor assistants
Have told me if I have evidence then there happy to match even if the discounts going to be say $600

        • There really is no point trying to correct you. You spout the wrong information every. single. time.
The reality is if you show a photo of a receipt or a clearance ticket from another store that has been associated with ozbargain or a similar site, 99% of the time, it has already been flagged as a do not price match. If you get around that, then good for you but it is NOT the norm.

I bought this a couple of weeks ago and it stops on any reasonably thick part of the lawn. It would be useful if you mow frequently but is terrible on anything that is even a little bit overgrown. I have three batteries and went through them pretty quickly. I would have preferred to get a more powerful one now.

    Good Morning All,

I managed to squeeze in a quick mow yesterday afternoon of my approx 150m2 backyard complete with Buffalo grass and weeds, Neighbours spiky liquid amber seed pods and tree leaves and a scattering of tiny twigs.

Really easy to manouvre because it's less that 15kgs, starts up easily, cuts ok for a admittedly small electric mower. Runs over the weeds, buffalo grass, swings and spiky seeds pods easily and spits them into the catcher.
Yes it cuts narrower than my old Victa 2 Stroke, buts its less noisy, less mess as there is no petrol. Using the brushless mower feels like I'm Vacuuming the grass :-P
I suspect a steel Deck version would give a even and better cut as it would be heavier, pushing down on the grass as it cuts.

But if i had a Victa i would be done in 10mins instead of 15mins or so with the brushes Ozito.
Managed to fill 1 and a half catchers full of stuff. before the rains started.

Super easy clean with swap out battery into the blower and blow the dirt dust and grass clippings off the mower.
Because the mower is relatively small, easy to pack away.

All in All, for $159 with 5yr warranty, i think its a bargain.

Consider this if you already have invested in Ozito Power Exchange LiIon battery packs and other Tool Skins. Thats what swayed me over. I already had the brushless Impact Driver plus a 4Ah battery, the Shop Wet n Dry Vac with 4Ah battery, and a blower.

Otherwise the Ryobi, more than DOUBLE the price I would only have access to a 2Ah battery and a 4Ah battery from my Line trimmer.

    • … and the bonus of no-questions-asked, instant, over-the-counter replacement/exchange/upgrade when going for the Ozito.

      • upgrade? Please explain

        • I took my original 150mm Circular Saw back due to the known sloppy bearing issues and upgraded it to the new, far better 165mm model. The price of the 165mm at that time just so happened to be the same price I originally paid for the 150mm back in the day ($79 from memory) so it was just an easy, instant free upgrade!

  • +1

I called them wanting to get one put aside to pick up later, they said it was a mistake and they changed the price back already..

  • I just called a few different stores in QLD and none of them are willing to price match, nor budge on the price.

I wish Ozito sold their products through different channels, I’m willing to buy it through anyone but Bunnings just on principle. 😔

  • Went to Aldi Mosman today and they had heaps of brushless battery powered mowers in stock at around $150

  • I've got the 399 one which is heavier and not brushless. While it features 2 batteries and has a larger cutting area I'm considering switching over. Anyone else in the same boat.

    Such good value.
