Free 6 Months Apple Music for Telstra Postpaid Customers @ Telstra

541

The offer can be accessed via the Telstra My Account or Telstra 24x7 App > My Offers > Music.

This could be a long-running deal (can't find an expiry date) and hopefully, it'll be useful to some, especially for the new Telstra customers through the recently revised Telstra plans and/or the JB Hi-Fi gift card deal!

Apple Music 6 Month Offer

Your first 6 months of membership are on us.

Once your complimentary period is over, you will roll onto a paid subscription and be charged $11.99 to your Telstra bill each month starting on unless you cancel earlier.

  • Data-free music streaming with Apple Music
  • Cancel at anytime
  • Added to your Telstra bill
    (no credit card details needed)

EDIT: Offer appears to be targeted. But I have it on both Telstra accounts, where I signed up two weeks go through JB Hi-Fi - one account had an existing broadband, the other was completely new. Also, don’t use the link, go through your Telstra My Account or 24x7 App.

Be careful… I just followed that link and I did have an offer, but it was not 6 months free… the offer was simply quota free streaming but it still would have charged my Telstra bill $11 per month

  • Any process for someone with an existing subscription? Cancel it first?

    • Yes, if you have an existing subscription through Apple directly, you have to cancel it and set up a new account through Telstra billing.

      • New account? An entirely new apple ID?

        • You don’t need a brand new account. Cancel your subscription, then the day after your subscription expires, sign up with Telstra.

        • @Randolph Duke:

When I saw this deal I redeemed it, then cancelled my original paid subscription. But it won’t expire until 30th September. The offer is showing as redeemed in the 24x7 app, will the free trial kick in once my paid one expires?

        • @zfind:

Not sure sorry; mine didn’t let me redeem until the previous subscription lapsed.

Cancel it and sign up with Spotify.

I don’t have a current subscription and can only see a 3 month offer so am not sure what the criteria is but doesn’t seem to be for everyone.

  • I have the offer but it's only for 3 months.

    3 months Apple Music membership

    Data-free Music Streaming
Available for new and existing prepaid customers
    Cancel at anytime

    • Because you are a prepaid customer I guess?
I have the same offer as a prepaid customer

      • I only see the 3 month offer and I’m on a post paid plan.

        • Same, postpaid, onky 3 months. When i got the port in deal was promised 6 months, no tineframe advised that needed to activate within. Reckon Telstra are arsehats.

I've had it with Apple music.
Continually just says "We have run into a problem" and then when I click try again it crashes.

  • Fantastic! My third free trial… 6 months! Thanks OP for the alert :)

  • Standard deal with post plans - depending on contract amount is dependent on length of inclusion. We on Telstra 12 month plans and seem to get 6 months at the anniversary date ($49). Similar to above this would be our 3rd round I’ve activated the offer.

Used to get Netflix too, but that fell away a while ago (I found that to the the best inclusion).

Great for posting for Those that hadn’t realised it’s included.

Dumbasses at telstra couldn't like my apple id email to my account when I signed up (because I had previously had a mobile plan on it) after trying 3 different times to go into the store and calling up support (each telling me to go to the store/call in/use online chat, basically fobbing me off). As such, I don't think I can use this on my apple id email lest I sign out on my phone and use the email I used for my telstra account (a throwaway). Ugh. Telstra support is so (profanity) useless.

    • They are useless. I was in a slightly different situation where it worked but at the end of the deal I wanted to use Apple for billing since you can then pay with iTunes cards which can be had for 15 - 20% off. Tried to disable the Telstra billing and every month for 6 months I would have Apple Music on my bill so I'd call and complain and they'd credit me the amount back and the staff would say "they've fixed it this time". Each month I again tried clicking the 'remove service' link from the accounts page. After 6 months of this I eventually put in a TIO complaint regarding Telstra not allowing me to cancel the service and continually billing it to me (requiring me to spend 30 mins a month on the phone to them) and the outcome was I now get a monthly credit for the cost of Apple Music and the service STILL is enabled via Telstra.

Totally baffles me, but I guess their incompetence means I'm getting the service for free so its not the end of the world. You have to wonder but.

      • Dealing with Telstra is like dealing with a person with 10 different personalities and only one of them can actually help you.

        • "and only one of them can actually help you."

So not like Telstra at all then, because there isn't even one.

  • -3

Don't sign up! You can't cancel after the trial without experiencing significant trouble. It took more than 4 months of chats to support and finally a letter to the TIO for Telstra to stop the billing.

They don't have a clean way to process cancellations. I'm not the only person to have experienced this.

    • +4

Huh? Mine was a simple cancellation via the offers page on my Telstra account.

    • +1

      mine was dead simple

As above I had the issue for 6 months and it was never resolved fully, they just adjusted billing to compensate for it which for me I guess is a better outcome since I now have it as a permanently free service.

Might have to do with me activating the Carrier Billing as soon as the offer went live years ago. Initially they had a lot of issues for the first month of launch where the service was active on Telstras end but the Apple Music app wouldn't link. It wasn't resolved until I put in probably my 3rd support call. Wouldn't shock me if they put in some non standard hack to make things work which then doesn't work with their deprovisioning tools.

You literally just click cancel …

    • This is ozbargain to a tee. Someone shared a perfectly valid experience and because some people happen to have not encountered that issue they down vote so the original comment gets hidden. Get a clue people

      • Agreed. Have an upvote op.

      • +1

If it wasn’t worded that everyone would have trouble then I doubt the negative votes would have come. They’re experience is not the norm.

        • I'd beg to differ that this isn't the norm. Telstra is widely known to have terrible customer service and can't tell it's arse from it's mouth.

        • @blergmonkeys:

I've very rarely had problems with Telstra Customer Service, on the few times I've had to contact them. Not that I needed to contact them in this instance, since cancelling via the 24x7 app worked fine for me 2 times.

  • It works for me, thanks!

  • I had this at the start of the year with that JB HI FI telstra plan.

  • I don't have a postpaid account but I get 3 months offer on my home Broadband/Phone Account, 3 months on my legacy (free) stand alone mail account & 3 months on my prepaid wireless mobile. Jut provided for your info.
