Maybe I got a dud one but these are rubbish. Bought one and within two months it would fail to be seen by any device attempting to connect to it. I tried absolutely everything to get it working. It's now landfill.

Plenty of other people have had the same issue. Some are able to get it working again, others aren't. Defective product.

    • -6

Its not waterproof. Same issue for all people. You don’t know how to take care of gear properly.

      • +5

I've used mine in the water every day for years and it still works.

        • I used mine in the ocean and it still worked.

      • +3

You don’t know how to take care of gear properly

        Wild assumption, borderline victim blaming

      • Dumbest most stupid comment I've ever seen here. Who said it's waterproof? Did I even mention anything about water as being the issue?

And for your information, sherlock holmes, I take brilliant care of all my devices, so I'd advise you to keep your ill-informed, presumptuous and utterly incorrect trolling comments to yourself.

Naturally my comment above will get down voted (and my neg removed) because there are people out there who are happy with it, but one thing you can't do is remove the comments and I hope this warns people away from a device with potential issues that render it completely useless because it can't connect to anything.

  • Got my wife the more expensive Amazfit Bip earlier in the year. She likes it, its been reliable and the battery lasts a long time.

  • How's the hrm accuracy for sleep monitoring? Anyone know if you can turn the screen off and lock it so it doesn't wake you up during the night?

    • The screen is not on by default. You tap a button to display the time or use a gesture.

    • Not great. Sometimes I would get some strange looking graphs, other times I would get graphs that where blocks of time were missing. Other nights it would work fine.

      • I'm using 2 additional apps for sleep monitoring, not that I thought it was innacurate, I just had them.
Amazfit Tools + Sleep as android (which has a wearables plugin)

  • i have got mine for ~2 years.. amazing product, love it.

I purchased one last year, total garbage. Even while doing a light jog the HR reader does not work properly, for example, any other HR band would be reading my HR at 120, the Mi Band reads it at 70- go figure!

Take it or leave it guys. It's a Chinese product…which is at very cheap price. Have you ever tell yourself that the heart rate sensor in branded watch is even more expensive than this whole watch. But even fitbit watch I have fail step count too, simpler than heart rate. Come on.

    • It doesn't matter what the price is, it still should work as advertised.

        • +1

Yes, I do. All products you buy should work as expected. If you expect a product you buy to not do what it claims to do then that is totally bizarre and totally incomprehensible.

Xiaomi products are well received here on OzBargain (have been for years). They're one of the quality Chinese based companies that can produce some great products. However, it seems like this is an exception or there are a lot of faulty watches.

        • @TheOneWhoKnocks: Yes, I have a lot of other Xiaomi products and all have been great. This is the only one I have had an issue with.

        • -1

dji, that's all I want to mention.

    • +2

It is a biased judgement to say this way. Chinese product does not mean bad quality.

Highly recommend using with Notify & Fitness app. App has a repair connection function.

    Nice, ordered 3. thanks

I used one for 3 or 4 months so I'll give some thoughts on it.

    • HR Tracker absolutely rubbish, gave random results
    • Sleep tracker was ok…maybe 1 or 2 days a week I'd have to manually edit the sleep time
    • Alarm is great as it makes it vibrate, so does notifications
    • Don't use default xiaomi app, sends too much data back home. Could use privacy conscious gadgetbridge or the notify & fitness app which someone else recommended.

It was perfect for me as I just wanted notifications whilst I would cycle to uni, and it is very cheap. At $18 might as well try it

    Thanks mate!

  • Got this for 14aud over 2 years ago, can't fault it it's flawless, don't use hr so can't comment but for sleep tracking and notifications it's accurate never failed. Use notify & fitness app

    All gone now guys!

Looks like it's back in stock

      • -1

Great to hear, was out of stock earlier. Although someone chose to neg me for the update…

I’ve ended up grabbing one too.

  • Mine's been great - for $20 can;t complain really. Had it for 4 months and i swim and do everything in it. I might upgrade to the 3 in the hope that measures my bike rides better and some of the notifications are a bit more advanced, Worth giving it a go if you wanna see if a fitness tracker is your thing.
