That is a really good price!

  • +2

Re xm3s, not coming out, but out already, or at least definitely in stock on Sony's website. Quite a substantial upgrade too, but pricing here is really good.

  • +1

Excellent price. Xm3 is 50% more but I doubt 50% better.

    • +2

Depends if your Vlad… he seems to think they are.

    • +3

Xm3 has usb c which is nice.

  • +1

    Will other places price match?

  • +1

Second time around i would choose these over QC35.

Been using QC36 gen2 for 6 months and super bummed out. NC and sound quality is comparable with my mates $100 headset and lack of features compared to Sony and Parrot is annoying me more than I expected.

    • +13

The QC35 love train on OzBargain is too strong. I actually completely agree with you.

    • +2

Shh @ripprind …too many Bose fanboys here
      (ready for the negs)

    • +1

"NC and sound quality is comparable with my mates $100 headset…"

Really? Does you 'mates $100 headset' have a make and model so we start buying that instead of paying 3X the amount for the Bose?

      • They seem to be even less than $100 in some places : KitSound Immerse Wireless Bluetooth

        • Cheers I'll google them up tomorrow. :)

        • @EightImmortals: If you get a chance and can find them, the CB3 Hush is also very good for the price.

  • Good price. Cheapest so far I think.

  • +1

Showed this at Duty Free Sydney, they said no way they can match, they lost business. They're still asking $450 for it, dreaming.

    • +1

      Tell them they are dreaming.

I was comparing reviews of both and the Sony seems to be superior (more features, sounds better when using wired, better at cancelling frequencies in the low-mid range than Bose). I purchased refurbished Sony's for under $250 with the Ebay 20% discount code. The box was marred and there was a slight mark on the headband (fix with black paint) but otherwise they were perfect.

    • Bose QC35 has better noise cancellation (slight improvement over the MX2), but the MX2 above is superior in terms of audio quality. However, if you're going to pay extra for better noise cancellation, then you're better off getting the MX3 which just came out that has both better noise cancellation and sound quality in comparison to the Bose QC35.

Better is not the right term, each are "better" at different frequencies and thus which set is better is highly dependant on the individuals usage.

Perhaps overall QC35 are better and I reckon they'd be better (ever so slightly) on flights but for me Sony wins hands down in day to day environments and most importantly, in the office or home.

I have XM2's and have ordered XM3's (mainly because of USB-C) and I have been very happy with them thus far.

Any comments on the potential crack headband issue?

    • Have you read the content of the link?

As far as I can see it's the same plastic hinge as the first gen, so no surprise that it will break the same way. As people dont seem to care about spending few hundreds on a potentially broken design product, go ahead and get one.

  • I wonder if we can somehow price match these

  • +3

Further to the cracking that always seems to be brought up about the Xm2. There is obviously a few cases where cracking has occurred and thus an issue. The Xm3s version looks like it may have improved the design further. We wont know the reliability of the new version for at least a few months if not longer as new users work their paces on them.

As for the Xm2. I think there are more happy customers than not. If you want the Sony's, but are on a budget the Xm2s are the best for now. Just be aware of the headband and use. These are not cheap headphones so should be looked after anyway. Sure you would say for the money they should be more robust etc. Sure, but if you look after your products they should last. I cant wait for Xm4 and 5.

So go for the Xm2. You can update the firmware to allow for google assist if you want that. Ive done it, but don't really use it. Any questions let me know. Just wish they were only $199. Now that would make them even more popular.

  • Try before you buy guys

  • How do these compare to beats Pro?

    • Haha, classic Hubert1.

      • lol… unless I hear them I won't know. I'll need to try them instore.

        • Smartest thing I’ve heard on these forums all week

        • @JuliusSeizure:

Not sure if serious or trolling

    • The comparison is choice bro

I bought these last time they were $299 at this Sony kiosk. They were happy to post from Sydney, so anyone not able to get there in person should call and pay over the phone.

I'm really enjoying my XM2, this is a good deal despite XM3 coming out.

  • Thanks OP! Grabbed one from Castle Hill Sony kiosk!

  • Great deal.

  • +1

Anyone been able to price match?

  • As much as I like my $40 2017 Bauhn ANC over-ear headphones, the aux jack did start to have problems just after 1 year of heavy use. The 2018 version is an inferior on-ear design.

The el-cheapo Sony ANC headphones are useless and a waste of $50.

    • +1

sonys design for the aux port on these is purposely angled so that only their proprietary jack head fits. i tried dozens of "narrow" headphone jacks

furthermore they wouldnt replace it under warranty until i kicked up a stink on social media

  • -3

I returned mine as they were very uncomfortable to wear, especially when you have to wear them for a few hours… I end up getting QC35 instead.

  • Sold out, anyone has a change of mind let me know

  • Any updates guys?

    Any restocking?

    • Run out mate. If you see them buy them.
