why are coles rewards, discounts bonus always so bad and limited compared to woolworths!?!?!

    arrogance or stronger market position?

eg cannot use coles online or coles express or petrol

    • Could I use this eGC to buy Coles MC instore, and vice-versa?

  • There is an ozbargainer who offers 6% discount. I've been getting my gc from him.

can you buy gift cards at coles with this?

    • I would like to know too, after some eBay gift cards, tried purchasing them at my local Woolworths (using Woolworths eGift cards) and got denied.

If you do self checkout and the staff who “validates” the giftcards you purchase aren’t so fussed, then yes. The system itself allows you to pay gift cards with gift cards, but sometimes the staffs sre trying to assert their own additional rules (this is based on personal experience).

Also note that if you want to buy gift cards with gift cards, do not select mixed payments as it will immediately lock the register and you’d have to have the staff unlock the register and possibly have to explain to them.

        • Thanks for the tip, however, they have labelled all self-checkouts stating that gift cards cannot be purchased at them, so self-check is no longer an option for me. But then again, they may just have labelled and not actually upgraded the checkouts, in any case, the staff member who "validates" the gift cards will most likely see this label and refuse.

        • @quantumlock:
This gets asked all. The time but not. Properly answered,.but buying gift with egift at Coles has never worked for me.

This is still the case right??

        • I have not tried purchasing gift cards using egift-cards at Coles (self-checkout and regular checkout) so I cannot comment.

        • Few weeks ago I purchased a Mastercard gift card with a Coles egiftcard from a checkout operator. Afterwards I saw that it states on the conditions of the egiftcard that it cannot be used to purchase gift cards. The operator was young and probably did not know.

I've been using a Suncorp rewards, all you need is a free Suncorp bank account:
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/347914

You can get the same 5% Coles gift cards and there is no credit card surcharge.

Do you know if there's a way to track how much you've got left on your Coles gift card this way? I did it once, but then I couldn't remember how much I had remaining after multiple small purchases on the GC.

The Woolies app made that a breeze!

You can manually update the balance on the Suncorp site, but it's nowhere near as intuitive as the Woolies app.

Do you know if there's a way to track how much you've got left on your Coles gift card this way?

        Gift Card Management Service

      • Also shows on Coles Receipt.
I buy from RACQ. Also have the Suncorp Rewards, but haven't used yet.

    • Yes I do this too but you can only use VISA. I would love to find a way to do this using AMEX.

  • AGL giftcards are emailed to you but takes days to receive.

Suncorp issue them within the hour, but often within 15 minutes.

Cashrewards issue them within a less that 2 hours.

    • cashrewards no longer have Coles, u guys know why??

yeah Suncorp seems to be a good allrounder with amount of stores and decent %'s

  • Now it's only 500$ limit per month, can someone tell or message me a way to buy more at 5%?
