[PC, Steam] FREE: The Culling (Was $24.99 US) @ Steam

890

This battle royale styled multiplayer game is now free-to-play forever. Reviews are mixed but worth a shot as the number of online players have increased since.

Battle Royale is back! The game that took the world by storm in 2016 has returned to its roots and is better than ever, not to mention free-to-play. With a whole host of improvements and new features, The Culling: Origins takes you back to the island where it all began… and asks whether you have the guts, brains, and skill required to survive.

Welcome to The Culling. As a contestant on this deadly game show you must explore, scavenge items, craft weapons, and build traps that will enable you to slay your fellow contestants and emerge victorious before the end of the round. Only with cunning, skill, and a little luck will you be able to prevail and survive the match.

  • Man The Culling was one of the first BR games, pretty sure even before pubg I don't think there's any Aussie games/player base though

    • It only became free to play yesterday. Hopefully this will encourage more Aussies :)

You would think but then I see friends and family buying stuff at full price still sometimes left right and centre.. I mean people can do what they want with their money but maybe the ozbargain mentality is not as widespread as we think it is..

        • @AlienC:

I see friends and family buying stuff at full price

          Ang you're still with them?

        • nope friends and family free since oh man i made myself sad again three?

        • @AlienC:

I second that. Especially when in the supermarkets, sometimes with the markdown, it's cheaper to buy 4 smaller pack than 1 larger pack.

Had some helpful person tell me, I could buy the larger pack and save juggling the 4 smaller packs, explain that I am saving $0.50 by doing so and was given a weird look and heard cheapskate muttered under the breath.

It's a whole $0.50! Plus with the smaller packs, I can ration out how much is used!

        • @crabcancer:

I mean yeah it is all about efficiency really buy what you need and do it efficiently helps everybody and the environment.. Well I mean we can't really help the environment since the damage is done already I.e product created but one day we will love in a somehow package free surplus free excess wastage free society somehow we just trimming the surplus now and making things better :)

Remember if you have a good idea tell somebody and it might make its way to somebody who might make it true.

  • im one of the sad sacks that actually paid for that game. not a bargain for me..

my condolences just use it as an expensive lesson and hopefully the next mistake will be not as bad aka less worse.. or at least that is what I do.. don't worry we all still make mistakes at least us humans.. the gods are well godly and all powerful and do not make single mistake.. candlejack

      You sad sack.

  • Oh for all unaware, according to one of their dev diary things they've done after Culling 2's failure, they did say that this free version is the first version they rolled out ages ago.
i.e the version before they screwed everything up.

    • +1

Yeah they're calling it Origins and reverted it back to 1.0.

Is this the New Zealand version of The Killing?

      Well played from left-field.

  • I bought this a few months after it came out to have a go. Don't know if they have Aussie servers now but as this game in melee focussed the hit detection was awful and I got killed many times because of it.
