Logitech M585 Multi Device Wireless Mouse with Bluetooth $19 (C&C or + Delivery) @ Harvey Norman

1060

Good mouse, only basic functionality but has bluetooth and Logitech Unifying receiver.

There's a red version with the same M585 model number you might find if you look around.

  • I posted this late last night, I didn't realise people had trouble understanding the concept…
It is a generic looking wireless mouse. It has a unified receiver (in an internal compartment). I use mine synced with my desktops other unifying reciever and my laptops bluetooth. In this way, when I'm out and about, I can still sync mouse to anything else I cine across because theres the dongle inside it.

You can also sync it with two bluetooth devices if you need,

  • Interesting device, especially at this price.
How does the cut on one device, paste on another work? The description above and the videos on the Logitech site are all really stylised. From what I can see, the mouse only comes with one dongle/controller?

    • 1) See the first *
      2) One dongle because they assume the other connections would be Bluetooth.

      • Apologies my bad. Didn't realise that the software is doing this.

  • What's better for a school kid to use with their BYO laptop ?
    This M585 or the M325 here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/403262 for $15.20

Do you need Bluetooth? Do you need multi-device support? That's what it comes down to.

    • +3

Does the laptop have Bluetooth? You can then use the M585 without a USB dongle.

That way, the laptop has 1 more USB port available even with the mouse connected. This is a big deal for laptops that have only 1 USB port.

If that's not a big deal then get the M325, it's cheaper and more comfy I'd say. I've owned a few of them.

My daughter has the M585. Main reason: no dongle to lose at school.

      • yeah … thats a big one too … loose dongle, loose mouse !

    • No back and forward buttons on the M325 should be a deal breaker imo.

      • +1

You can do that by moving the scroll wheel left or right on M325.

        • The M585 has the left and right tilt too. So I guess that's 2 extra buttons you can customise.

    • Your link has M235 and not M325($23.20 @JB). Scroll wheel in M325 can be used for back and forward functions, not in M235.

  • Good find OP. a very good price for the mouse.
It's just a pity that it doesn't work on glass surfaces.

    • I use this mouse all the time and love it. Works fine on my glass-top semi-opaque desk. Didn;t know it wasn't supposed to work!

  • Great price and great little mouse.

    The switching functionality works flawlessly.

I purchased a few weeks back when it was posted for $25.

  • but has bluetooth and Logitech Unifying receiver

I was reading up on the differences between wireless vs bluetooth mice.
Bluetooth mouse should work with laptop's bluetooth chip, if it has one, shouldn't it ?
Thats a big advantage of bluetooth over other wireless mice, in that it doesn't reqquire a spare USB port.
But this one apparently needs a USB port !

    • +2

This does work without the USB adaptor with Bluetooth - I use it like this. The USB is only required when you connect to 2 devices. I haven't tried out this functionality yet, but it sounds great for office pranking šŸ˜€

Just be careful with Bluetooth. It's not compatible with Win 7 that doesn't have Bluetooth Smart. I found out the hard way.

    From the FAQ

Your mouse uses Bluetooth low energy (LE) technology and is not compatible with Windows 7 computers that donā€™t support Bluetooth Smart.

  • +1

    got one. thanks

  • How's the bluetooth performance? Good to use as a Ipad mouse?

    • +1

      iPad doesnā€™t support mouse use.

      • Doesn't it work anymore if you jailbreak?

    • i haven't picked up yet :( ordered and paid

  • +1

Just to mention that this mouse works on connecting 2 computers that has Bluetooth. The unified adapter is good when one of the computer doesn't has BT or not compatible.

Got one at $25 from JB, it's great mouse overall. $19 is a steal. Recommend to all at the price level.

  • Has anyone used this with an Android device? One review i saw liked the mouse, but it wouldnt work with his Xiaomi phone. Im running samsung but…

    • +1

Yes. Samsung Tab S4 here via Bluetooth.

  • Just got an M585 this morning. Great price. Bought it mainly to use with my Android Tab S4 using DeX via bluetooth. So far works beautifully. Does anyone know how to enable smooth scrolling on chrome in Android (if it is even supported in the first place)?

    • +1

Try the Logitech Smooth Scrolling extension. Although not sure if this mouse supports it.

      • Thanks, but that is for Windows only I think. I need it on Android. Never mind.

        • Oops missed that. No idea then, sorry mate. Hopefully someone else might know.

  • I believe this is a full sized mouse whereas the 325 is a ā€˜laptopā€™ sized mouse.
    Is that right?

    • +1

its a little smaller than "fullsize"

      • +5

        Thatā€™s what she said.

Just picked up at JB in store who actually have it on at the same price when I asked to price match.

  • So, does anyone actually call them ā€œlogiā€?

  • A month ago a Bluetooth keyboard was posted on here at Harvey Norman. They cancelled the orders due to a lack of stock. Hope it doesn't happen again.

  • Anyone found a red one anywhere? My local one only has the black and have 5 in stock.

  • Thanks OP. I got the second last one in my area.

  • Just picked my mouse up…
    this mouse is awesome!!!!
for this price its a no brainer

just bought a second one - too many computers here :)

  • How are people getting it from JB Hi Fi, don't even see it on their website

    • The JB in Westfields in Sydney CBD has them.

  • Got it by price matching at JB. Technically it's only if it's in stock but guy did it anyway.

  • +1

Got 2 x M585s at JB price matched Eastgardens. Regular price they have is $49 on them.

I walked in, grabbed 2, went to the counter and asked for a price match. Showed the HN website on mobile.
Success (I just ignore their usual polite grumble about their boss not being happy etc. I did want to say "yeah but image how p1ssed I'd be at paying $49 only to find it at $19 with HN". Instead, I just thanked them for their help and walked out the door with the mice.

Since I was already at a shopping centre with a JB it saved me the travel.

  • +1

Went to JB HiFi on Perth, it actually scanned for $19.60 even though it's marked at $49

They gave it to me for $19

  • Can't seem to find any stock in any states on HN's website - might be OOS.

    • NO! Need 5 more upvotes….

      • Only need four now ;)

    • Still available for Online Delivery.

Also potential Pricematch with The Good Guys

EDIT: Showing as In stock at Aspley QLD.

    • i couldn't find stock either. ordered it anyway. got an email saying "Sorry, your order has been delayed. It shouldn't take too long. We'll contact you as soon as it's ready."

So, i cancelled it, and followed the advice of others and went to JB HiFi. The mouse isn't on their website, but they had heaps of display stock. They put up no resistance to the price match.
Go to JB HiFi if you have one near you. Much simpler.

  • I ordered x2 get free "shipster" delivery as not in a rush.

  • Just got one from JB Hi-Fi with price match.

  • Bought one a few days ago. Price matched at jb as well. Great mouse! Only thing is the click is slightly on the loud side.

  • Got notification and collected today at QV Harvey Norman. Had a tub full of M585's ready to collect.

    • I've been waiting for more than 2 weeks. HN support is not helping at all :-(
I should have gone to jb hifi to price match.

  • HN was out of stock at Aspley, but still managed to get it for $19.60 at JB Hi-Fi

  • Deal has expired :(
