      Fixed it. Thank you!

  • How much is the train ticket normally?
Is this the usual non-bullet train that you would take from Osaka to Kyoto?

    • Train times & fares from around ¥300 ($3.75) one way for slower train to ¥9000 for Shinkansen, but depends on speed, company, stations used.

It's one of the private rail companies between Osaka & Kyoto. They use different stations, meaning fares are different. eg JR Kyoto is to the South of Kyoto, & the Shinkansen station for Osaka is a train ride from JR Osaka.
So you may need to add local transport cost & time to reach your choice of train company! Something to consider when travelling in Japan.

Pass may be used for Local, Semi-exp., Sub-exp., Rapid Limited Exp., Limited Exp., Rapid Exp., Express lines
Pass cannot be used for Premium cars

I often pick up the rival company's Kintetsu 5 day pass at KIA on arrival. Covers Kintetsu trains between Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, Yoshino (mountains with ancient paths & Cherry Blossom 🌸), Ise (fabulous Ise-Jingu - sacred shrine) & buses around Ise - Toba, Iga (original Ninja training area), & as far as Nagoya. It's great value.

Osaka makes a good cheap base for travel in the region.

  • is this necessary if i have jr ?

If you are arriving / departing through KIA Osaka (as I often do), the various local rail passes can be a great value sightseeing add on to the start or end of the JR Pass . Some include admission to attractions, some have discounts, & some just the transport.
      Similar for Tokyo.

There is a good value 2 day attractions & train pass just for Osaka (includes entry to 2 very good bathhouses, 2 ferris wheels, viewing towers, etc).

Using the JR Pass in local city travel is a bit of a waste of it, as local travel is cheap. So consider a local pass before or after the JR Pass🎏
