Nintendo games hold their value and rarely drop in price, with good reason too. This is a must have for the Switch.

    • I put up 3 games on the FB marketplace last and sold them within the day for $10 to $20 less than I bought them for (Xenoblade, Zelda and Mario). I sold Zelda for $60 which I bought with the console on release day.

I hate having to have physical game cards due to it being the cheapest option, but this certainly eases the sting.

Hack your switch and you can dump your carts to your sd card ;)

        • -1

I don't get this logic. If you dump the carts and sell the game might as well just download the files online.

        • +2

          @gottacatchemall:

Not sure why he was negged, he never said to sell the carts.

You're allowed to have backups of games you own, and having ~20 game carts is a hassle, hacking and dumping to an SDcard is much more manageable.

        • +1

@gottacatchemall: Woah, that's piracy! Never said to sell the games.

          1. Buy the games physically (cheaper than digital).
          2. Dump the games to your SD Card.
          3. Leave your games at home / in the cupboard, and just carry your switch around.

Now you have the best of both worlds. Cheap games, no need to carry carts around with you.

        • @idonotknowwhy: Does this impact any online capabilities of the switch? I was planning on hacking eventually but to be honest play so periodically it hasn't been a big priority.

Would certainly be my preference if this is now an easy option.

        • @Baa: As long as you only dump your own cartridges and don't share them, you can play online. Each cartridge has a unique certificate.

This is why I won't buy a used switch game from EB. Some people 'rent' games from there and dump them.

If the same cartridge (or image) go online concurrently, instant ban from the e-shop and online play. Consoles can be banned as well.

        • @idonotknowwhy: Ho do you dump the games to an SD card? doesn't this require specialised equipment?

        • @Elijha: Nope, just a switch with homebrew.

        • @gottacatchemall: >I don't get this logic

How about so you can backup your save games without paying Nintendo for the online service to do this.

So they didn't hold their value and they dropped in price.

        • +2

I believe he meant the new games rarely drop in price especially the bigger releases, for example Zelda on release day $79 and Zelda today $79 (@ most AU retailers), which improves resale value.

I am more than happy to sell a game 18 months after I bought it for $19 less than I paid for it.

  • awesome game, never played zelda game before and still enjoyed it. finished the last boss and still 80% of game contents to explore lol

  • Any good deals for the Switch?

    • Amazon AU & Catch have it for $398 for both colours.

      • Also Costco, which is preferable for some because bricks and mortar and generous return policy

  • Is it brand new, and just from a different region?

Description says it'll work, so it does it matter?

    • They're region free so it doesn't matter but the listing say it's PAL so it's probably Aussie stock.

    This game is hard.

    • +4

Only if you play on Master difficulty.

      • +1

I played on whatever the default was, I get one shot by troll thingies and all my weapons do is break. I gave up.

        • Might be heading to places too early, while you can go anywhere, exploring in a story fashion will have you build a decent arsenal before you start getting to the blue mogboblins or whatever they were called and beyond. But Lynels were/are/seem harder to defeat than Ganon.

        • +3

Best to stick to My Little Pony.

        • @Soluble: Yeah I feel like I missed something important. Guess I need to go back and farm / grind before going to the first boss area. Cheers!

        • It's hard at first.. But much easier as you get further into the game.

        • +1

@Duram: weapons will keep breaking, just keep playing. Once you kill one of the higher level things you'll get their weapons then game becomes easy again.

        • +1

@Duram: I had the same problem. You have no idea where you're supposed to go.

My best advice is to get the armours and upgrade them at the fairy fountain, look up a guide on where to get them. Fighting should be easier after that

        • +1

Often you do not need to use weapons. Even when you do you can do so without being seen usually.

There is a large number of ways to do things in BOTW.

        • +1

@Duram: Which boss area did you head to first?

I did Gerudo / Vah Naboris first and found it bloody difficult with limited gameplay time and stamina / hearts.

After doing the others I'd suggest doing them in the following order to avoid frustration:

          1) Zora / Vah Rutah
          2) Rito / Vah Medoh
          3) Goron / Vah Rudania
          4) Gerudo / Vah Naboris

        • @Nomadesque: don't know the name but he shoots lasers and you can hide behind pillars.

        • @Duram: Sounds like Vah Medoh. The flying Divine Beast accessed through the bird tribe? The boss battle takes place on the back of the beast?

You just need a lot of bomb arrows if so. Just spam Ganon (Windblight) with them and you should get through. If you hit him in the eye he should stun / fall to the ground and you'll be able to unload on him with your blade weapons.

        • also, once you learn the timing on parry and block the lynels become super easy. Practice on easy mobs first and shit weapons and shields.

        • @Soluble:

But Lynels were/are/seem harder to defeat than Ganon.

          Thanks for spoiling it lol

One of the best games I have ever played.

    • +4

agreed 100% I always enjoyed playing games, however with life happening all my consoles were collecting dust. This game got me so hooked, being portable I was able to finish it on normal mode in about 2-3months with the upgraded Master Sword. Best console game I've ever played, even my wife was impressed with the game play, level of detail, shrine quests etc. Can't wait for the next one!

  • Thanks - my Son has been asking for this game and I couldn't bring myself to pay $80-90 for it.

  • already out of stock disappointed at my speed :(

    • Well damn… I was going to grab one when I get home from work.
