Meh, I wonder how much they'll charge for this?

Another business who thinks they extort subscription fees for not much more then their usual service (or in ebay's case, pay for what you used to get)

    • $10/month

      • +3

        really?

I bet they'll go the ebay model, where things like the 10c/lt off petrol only applies to maaaaax members.

It's like the management has got together to work out how to compete with Amazon and someone said 'Hey, lets introduce a subscription model and get people the pay for what they're used of getting"

and everyone's like "YEAH! Great idea, we'll get another income stream, it's Coles as a service! "

"People will want to pay to join our exclusive club everyone likes to be an an exclusive club, it'll be like the MCG, they'll be putting their kids on the waiting list when they're born!"

The next step will be a few catalogue pages dedicated to exclusive discounts for Maaaaaaaax members.

If they were smart they'd offer discounts off things like 5% off Coles giftcards, 10% off itunes, etc the sort of thing that people can see getting their $10 back each month (although $10 is a rip).

Got targeted but CBF signing up and remembering to cancel "benefits" look extremely pissweak.

  • Have to rememeber to cancel, if you sign up. If you cancel now, you lose the perks within 24 hours

  • I hope you can pay using points - and there is some extra like discount coles vouncers

  • I got the email - and the link just went to the standard site. Whatever.

    • Same here, tried signing up and ended up at the home page, they don't even test these new "products"

      • Same. I was searching around on how to sign up but gave up.

Hmm, if my maths is not wrong, if you spend $46/week on fresh fruit, veg and meat at Coles, then this pays for itself. Or you could just shop at Aldi.

  • +5

Besides 5% off fruit, veg and meat I don't really see anything worth $10 a month here lol.

    • Unlimited free delivery over $100 should be for all and $100 is still a high minimum spend.
    • Most people have a subscription service to entertainment of some sort.
    • Discounted movie tickets might be good for some, but there's already many things that exist for this (or good deals that pop up)
    • 10,000 BONUS POINTS each year on your first booking with flybuys travel (after 6 month subscription) is just pushing their own services like Coles car insurance, not really a deal.

Spending $200 on fruit, veg and meat saves $10/month so I guess it can be alright value for big families? Although you'd need to be savvy to see if Coles is the cheapest in the first place though..

I reckon you pretty much nailed it.

    • Since many people are willing to share their card numbers to other to earn extra points, the benefit of 5% off fruit, veg and meat is not hard to obtain.

  • For a non membership supermarket they would need to be as competitive as Costco to charge customers for memberships. At $120 per year membership is double the price and with only 5% off selected items only. No deal!

Was just waiting for that one person. they don’t charge membership to enter into coles, it’s optional. Please read and comprehend before jumping to conclusions

  • Received target email. Had a good read through the offer and there's nothing exceptional. If they opened the door to using egift cards for online orders, plus cashback, I might entertain.

  • This is a bit shit considering the 5% is usually the staff discount. If they upp'd the staff discount to 10% that would be sweet.

It stacks with staff discount, makes it better.
