Good price, main draw back for the Honda compared to the competition is it weight, which is definitely a consideration when used for longish periods.

Thanks BA. This will go well with my hockey mask.

They are very heavy. When you first pick it up you think oh that's not too bad. Then half way down the hedge somehow it puts on weight

Same thing happens to me with the girls I go out with.

  • Honda are advertising this on there site at the moment as $499 save $300 so you should be able to buy at honda dealer at the same price
Note: this machine is heavy dry weight 6.6kg

      What’s the moist weight?

      • Depends on the moisture level.

    • Bunnings once again covering their backside on price beating. Go to your Honda dealer if you want one.

  • When did Bunnings start selling quality stuff?

  • Lol 799 whatever 6.6kg good luck with the tennis elbow get a 2 stroke or cordless Ryobi or ozito if you have a lot of hedges to trim . Honda stuff is good but too heavy.

  • 4 Stroke Gang

Aeg have recently released an 18v brushless unit that rivals the petrols ones. I know I will get flamed for saying it, but for the home owner I would say its the way to go…
It has the thickest cut out of all the electric units…

    • Hard to imagine an 18v hedge trimmer coming close let alone rivaling petrol for anything more than a couple of minutes. Are you sure it's not their 58v trimmer?

      • Yeah, 18v. I also have petrol stihl hs81 so I have a good base to compare too. With hedges for the home owner you only really need about 20 minutes to do most hedges of actual trimming time.

        • Definition of 'rival'
          3. verb
If you say that one thing rivals another, you mean that they are both of the same standard or quality.

Not saying that cordless tools don't have their place but when it comes to gear like this, they are no rival for petrol.
I've spent the last couple of days cutting dry hardwood logs with a 58V AEG chainsaw. It's impressive and perfect for what I've been doing but doesn't come close to a petrol saw.

        • @OzBragain:
I think chainsaws are a little different, and in that type of tool I don't see electric rivalling petrol. But we are talking about hedge trimmers…

        • @RandomBob84:

Chainsaw was used as an example to show I'm not against battery tools. They are not the sane but have their place and do not rival petrol tools.

I think I understand what you're trying to say but your statement was poorly worded. Petrol and battery garden tools are very different beasts.

I’m a huge advocate for battery garden tools. But there’s no way this compares to a petrol unit. 58v brushless one is comparable.

I have the Ryobi one + and it’s a good unit for around the house. Plenty powerful (if you use a 4ah+ battery) and light weight.

The issue with petrol is that I find them too heavy, which makes it hard to hold upright for long periods.

  • i bought a 99 dollar version from Bunnings some years ago that is electric and it does the job…(i have to hedge my land/property like 4 times a year)
