  • According to news articles from previous years, about 500,000 people attend Riverfire. That's a lot of people to move. Anyone used public transport from this event in previous years? I'd like to know how long you had to wait in queue.

It gets pretty packed. I'd recommend waiting and having dinner or a drink or something rather than trying to leave straight away.

How long the wait feels is relative - if you're in a hurry, it's never fun. If you're prepared to just chill and take it easy as the other comment suggests, it's all fine and you'll get wherever you need to get in time. It's probably still better than sitting in a car trying to find a parking spot on my experience.

Personally however, I think Riverfire afternoon/night is the best night to ride around on a bicycle (practically also free), knowing that traffic crawls to walking pace, etc. It also presents the easiest opportunities to relocate for different vantage points between the arvo displays vs evening.

    Thanks op, but…

That is a bizarrely small window. Just make it free from midday until 5am the next day. Weird

Should be free in both directions and for more than 2 hours.
