Yea which equates to approx $33/TB.
True, but it's showing up as sold out online for me.
At binglee for $120 they have the 4tb one which is even better value, but its a case of how much space do you really need.

This video even shows you how to disassemble it and remove the 2.5" HDD out of it. It's for the 1TB drive but it should be exactly the same for the 1.5TB.

Just grabbed one from Morley WA, none on shelf but a staff member found one behind the counter.
That is awesome. I didn't know you could do that, but I do know when I was looking for a ps2 network adapter 10 years ago they where pretty rare (read: expensive $$$)
Free Memory Card Boot (FMCB) and Free HDD Boot (FHDB) are awesome, just need someone to create you a hacked FMCB mem card and you can use that to set up a HDD on a PS2 fat with network adaptor. Once the HDD is set up you dont need the FMCB mem card any more (other than as a backup) and games are run from the HDD using Open PS2 Loader (OPL).
You can also use FMCB and OPL to run games from a network share using any ps2 other than the later 90000 series, slims had inbuilt ethernet.
I've tried it from a windows pc share and using a rpi to share files from a USB drive, works well.Official network adaptors go for about $50 on ebay but need an adaptor to use sata drives, clone ones are far cheaper but they dont have network despite having the port, only HDD connectivity which makes adding games more difficult.
Fascinating.. I'm going to remember that little nugget of information. I always like mods that allow to use the original hardware to load from modern data storage. Emulation and backward-support is great, but there's nothing quite like going through the motions with the same hardware you used when you were 10 years old, getting up early on a saturday morning to play video games.
@outlander: Yeah I love original hardware when possible, the PS2 is worth setting up with a CRT just to play all the PS2 and PS1 light gun games :)

The conventional wisdom by tech experts on backups is known as the 3-2-1 method. Basically you want:
3 copies of any data you don't want to lose.
2 different mediums it's stored on (so 2 different drives in your computer, for example).
1 copy kept offsite, to prevent against disaster.
