    • Cant agree more lol.got the vimtag camera from last sale, super happy. wouldn't want to spend that much on cameras anymore =D

  • +1

Can anyone explain why they would buy this over any of the piles of cheap cameras available now?

For this price you could buy much better pro level cameras.

For me, Arlo's 7 days free cloud storage is what really gave it the edge over similar systems (e.g., nest). I needed a camera system that I could install myself without needing to call in a tradie, and I really didn't want to be messing around with cables and DVR/monitors. Your circumstances may vary, but within this scope, Arlo has been excellent.

Cameras are wireless, quick and easy to setup (DIY) and move. The app is pleasing enough, and juuuuust user-friendly enough that my older relatives can navigate it.

I've put these cameras in for two sets of older relatives who needed a quick and easy way to bump up their home security. The relative lack of wires made it seem less intrusive, more friendly to have in their houses. $500 and an hour's setup, and you've got a working camera system.

  • i saw reviews on Amazon is pretty bad for Pro 2, a lot of reviewers saw Pro 1 is much better. Any ozbargain user can comment?

  • I would steer clear of Arlo Pro/Pro2. I was very happy with my Arlo Pro system for the first 8 months until they upgraded the firmware in May. The new firmware contains some serious bugs that reduce the battery life from around 5-6 months to around 1 month. Have a look on the Arlo Forums for further details. Arlo are not responding to complaints about this and don't seem to be taking it seriously. I'm sick of climbing up and down ladders replacing batteries and have given up waiting for a possible fix so I'm returning mine as they are not fit for purpose.
