                    • @swagneto: Yes, profits rather than ideology rules businesses. The biggest profits are from the dominant meat eating market.

Wishful thinking with the vegan patties take over😉 More are being consumed.

Sustained growth from a small base is a very shonky way to predict future sales! Many predictions of various take overs have failed before… Unfortunately, wishes aren't reality😞

Wonder how many are sold now in all the burger outlets in Oz, against meat based products? That's a lot of vegan patties ground to make up in 5 years!

I've been eating non-meat patties since I was a kid, but they're still not a mainstream product. All the places I ate at then - failed, despite great tasting product. It's hard to compete with a dominant meat culture.

In the mean time, outlets will offer alternatives (like sugar free drinks) as options to keep people (& especially legislators & taxes) off their back. If it brings in a few extra dollars & free publicity, even better.

But why support the relaunch of a non-meat burger, which is just marketing from a meat restaurant? There are better places to eat at for people who choose not to eat meat & they would be gratefully for the support.

I'll just grab my free burger from this deal.

    • hope so

This can be a Take Away if you know how to.

  • I've done it couple of times, no lie. Just have to be thick skinned, that's all.

  • Thanks, OP. I've tried TGIF's "ULTIMATE VEGAN $17.9 BURGER" a couple of times and it was ok. I'll try this Grill'd burger on the w/e.

  • I believe what I must have had recently was the 1.0. My feedback was that mine was smothered in tomato sauce and mustard so that was pretty much all you could taste. I'm not sure if that was a one time mistake or if that's their way of giving all the imitation stuff some illusion of flavor, or hiding an unpleasant flavor it has. Not anti-vegan or anti-vegetarian, just don't like tomato sauce and mustard that much. Will be happy to try the revised version

    • The revised version is very good. Would happily have it again although I don't know if I'd go out of my way to have a $14 burger.

Meat? Gross. But I'll happily keep animals as pets locked up at home. That's where animal abuse is the sweetest

    • +9

There's a bit of a difference between keeping a pet, giving it plenty of food/water/affection/exercise/love/medical care etc. until it dies, and keeping an animal in horrid conditions until you butcher it for food at 1/20th of its natural lifespan.

    • +5

      People still use whataboutism ?

    • Implying that everyone who is a vegan/vegetarian owns a pet and gives it a horrible life. Quite a stretch

      • I'm against animal enslavement. Free the beasts!

  • +1

    Quite nice taste tbh

  • -5

So that means just lettus because bun, cheese, sauce & meat have dairy contains. 😂

  • Thanks OP. I’m hoping the new version is significantly better than their original vegan cheese burger.

  • +3

Just got one, it was really good. Thinking of going vegan now.

  • Wasn't a fan of the original vegan cheeseburger. Hopefully this is better.

With they would just bring back the old vege burgers they removed from he menu.

  • Thanks OP will give it a go, wasn't a fan of the first one. I wonder if it'll compare to the beyond meat upgrade they do at lord of the fries

    • Grill'd were using the Impossible Foods burger earlier but unsure if v2 continues with it. I'm a big fan of the Beyond Meat patties. It's great to get some products that genuinely look, smell, and taste like the real deal.

  • Hang on, I just read this ..

Not available for takeaway, via online ordering or Uber Eats.

So it's available for takeaway via in-store ordering.

    • +3

      Notice the comma?

      • Yeah I just did a runner because it doesn't make any sense that a person required to eat a burger in the restaurant so I went out with a take away.

      • And the comma, yeah that can be interpreted differently.

      • that's right, the banana's were not in possession of 30 cents….
        ;)

    • +1

I just got one in store and they asked if I wanted takeaway so yep available for takeaway via in store ordering.

  • Hopefully it's good! First one was crap.

    • The second one is crap too.

  • This is going to be ozbargained in a way only ozbargained can.

  • +1

Wonder if I can remove the vegan patty and pay for a beef one.

  • +1

I haven't received my email after signing up? Anyone else?

    • Same. I am still waiting. Signed up about 8 minutes ago.

    • 30 mins since I signed up and nothing yet.

  • +1

I'm not falling for your free soyboy transformation burger tricks!

    • Can I get your mobile number please?

    • +2

      More for us - thanks👍

  • +1

I wrote in to Grill'd telling them how crap their burger was and the lady said, that they tested well and you were the only one to complain, blah blah. Suck it to them, their customer service in dealing with customers was crap and there are more competitors now so Grill'd you've got a lot of explaining to do!

    • Build a bridge, have another one, and you can dollar cost average!

EDIT: just re-reading properly, you wrote and she defended it, that is poor customer service. Anyway, free is free, right?

  • +3

Wasn't bad, I could taste the 'free' with every mouthful.

    • +13

      🎉Congratulations🎉
You have now reached the level of
      Official OzBargain Food Critic🏆

      • They say that stuff tastes better when it's freeeeee

        • It's a famous old OzBargain saying…

  • +2

Why do they need your Date of Birth? BTW I loved the first one, happy to try the second one but this is just a data breach waiting to happen.

  • Yay! I didn't mind the first one (I'm used to wheat and dairy free - not by choice), so this should be awesome!

  • Just had the burger, definitely wasn't my cup of tea.. Although I do love my meat ;). Go in with the expectation that it's not a burger and hopefully it won't ruin the experience for you!

  • Thanks, Overall experience (includes two extra points for being free): 6 out of 10

  • +1

Has anyone received their email yet? I was hoping to have this tonight but nothing has arrived yet.

    • I think you've missed out. The site was still saying email sent for about an hour after the codes ran out.
I tried getting a second one and only the first came through.

      • Ah that bites. Thanks for letting me know. Guess I'm eating vegemite sandwiches for dinner again.

    • +2

Check your private messages, a good hearted OzBargainer might have mercy on your poor soul (yuck, vegemite! :D )

  • +2

    And Ozbargained

  • +6

love how they closed the signup and added an extra line saying First 5000 only

  • Im a reverse vegan

  • -5

Should I sell or just let expire the bunch of codes I got? No captcha ftw :D

Let's see how many negs this gets!

    • Feel free to send one my way, if you're feeling generous!

    • Hi, I could use one please

  • How could they run out? They simply just need to order more! I call it BS! If you go and done they still have plenty stock 😂

  • +1

I never received my email and I signed up a couple of hours ago. Disappointing as I have actually been vegan for six years. :(

    • +9

Aaaaaw, cry me a VEGAN river, haha. Enough with the sniffelitis, check your private messages, a good hearted OzBargainer might have just sent you his last extra code.

      • Wow, thank you so much! :)

    • I didn't receive my email as well. :(

    • Mine eventually came. I would re-check.

  • Missed out, so sad…Would have really loved to try this out :(

  • gross, couldn't finish it

  • Could you order the Vegan Cheeseburger with added meat and cheese?

  • No emails on both sign ups on about 1:30pm. who got it?

  • Had mine earlier, was quite good but they burnt it a little, still fairly good though, thanks for posting OP

    • You weren’t the couple at North Lakes by any chance?

      • Lol no, went by myself because I only had one code..

  • signed up but no email… :( , kindly if anyone sign up more than one and got spare to get rid pls spare me one if okay.. appreciated…

  • +2

first time trying a vegan burger, would defiantly try again!

    • +2

Can't you try it again co-operatively?

  • This was my first vegan burger.. Really liked it. High in sodium though, nearly twice as much as most of the other meat burgers.

    • Same, and yeah I thought it wasn't bad, certainly great for free. Felt really thirsty afterwards though (only had burger, no chips), drank 2 full glasses of water, so I guess that's the sodium/salt.

  • If someone has a code they won’t use, I’d be keen to take it (missed out).

  • +3

My family and I aren't vegans but are eternally grateful that they are becoming more market influential. My daughter is anaphylactic to dairy and egg and having alternatives is awesome. It's also fun asking for a beef burger with vegan cheese :-)

  • I didn't love the original vegan cheeseburger so I don't really wanna pay full price for the new one. I signed up yesterday but I guess I missed it, thanks for posting though OP!

  • +2

    Tried last night. It's a solid 9.5!!

    out of 100,000

  • I tried to use this yesterday and the melb CBD store said "we are not honouring it because it was shared on some coupon site and people went nuts" not sure if its only the one store or not but totally lame

    • -1

People gave themselves away by not telling the world five times they were vegan.

    • +1

Do you mean the Melbourne Central store? There are quite a few Grill'd stores within the Melbourne CBD.

    • That doesn't make sense since it was limited to 5,000 from the beginning.

  • I used it flinders lane melb at lunch time, burger is pretty average to bad, lord of the fries beyond burger is most definitely better (i gladly pay the $13 for it). The only difference to the 1.0 seemed to be the patty size. I like the hemp therapy burger from grilled as a vegie option.

  • I had it. It was alright. Is hard to compare with regular grilld burger as it doesn't include much salad. But certainly a good 20-25% less enjoyable than their normal stuff.

The fake meat kinda tasted like vita wheat biscuits. And it did make me thirsty afterwards.

But, I appreciate the freebie. Thanks OP.

  • Just got mine from Doncaster Westfield.

    Wow , that was terrible.
I can't believe it's more expensive (A$14) than my go to Grilled Bacon & Cheese (A$13)

Has anyone looked at the ingredient list for this monstrosity!! Surely it can't be more healthy!

p.s. No Cows were hurt in the production of this review. Namaste.

    • No Cows were hurt in the production of this review. Namaste.

      🐄 we love you 🐄 😀

Got one of mine yesterday. I stand by my original comment of "would rather neck myself".

  • +1

Possibly one of the worst thing I ever ate. But it was free

  • I thought the burger was fine

  • Disgusting burger, who would honestly pay $14 for it!?

  • Could it be redeem today or yesterday was last day?

    • Managed to redeem mine just now without issue. The cashier said they he'd had one not go through earlier though. :/

    • Yes - eating one now.

  • Macquarie ran out of Vegan 2.0. I was offered any burger instead. Ended up with a chilli addict. Yum
