Good price, but $28 delivery for me. 😂

  • $29 shopping cost kills the deal :(

    • Good only if you life nearby and can pick up otherwise PCG is well know for exaggerated delivery charges.
And regarding returns, be aware they will divert/troll you to the manufacturer, personal experience!

      • Just to even it out, I've had excellent warranty service from PCCG. Had a 4 year old Corsair CPU watercooler that died and received a full refund within 24 hours.

          • Had a 4 year old Corsair CPU watercooler that died and received a full refund within 24 hours

Sounds 100% unbelievable unless that day the one who reimbursed you was drunk.
Firstly you need to send the item back to them for inspection so after 24 hours you got a refund for a 4 year old item really sounds like someone was drunk.

@dealhunt: They have five year warranty, so it seems reasonable.

It's probably cheaper to refund rather than shipping it back and forth to verify faults.

Probably more a Corsair policy than PCCG though.

            • @KentT: It still sounds unbelievable because 1) my past and last experience with them, 2) their warranty policy clearly state you must send the item back for check (all shops will ask that), 3) sending the faulty item to them it's at your expense always, 4) delivering the item back to you (upon they consider the claim) it's much much cheaper than refunding, 5) check Whirlpool forums for people (like myself) complaining about warranty.
I would cautiously believe that story if your hardware broke within 1 year which is the standard Australian warranty, then Corsair offers 5 years so you or your shop need to send the item to Corsair for check.
I've been shopping computer hardware (among many things) for many years and this is the first time I hear your story…..

          • @dealhunt: I didn't send the item in. I drove there and walked in. Why would I post it when I live 15 minutes away?

Next day I received a email offering full refund or credit.

I am unsure why you think it's "unbelievable", just good customer service IMHO.

            • @Typical16-bitEnjoyer: It's still unbelievable and I don't understand why you're unsure since I already explained it.
I could believe that story only if you went there within a year period.
Also as I said many people (including me) on Whirlpool complain about their warranty and returns.
You can't change the bad experience that other people and I experienced.

              • @dealhunt: It's very believable and I don't understand why you're so sure since I already explained it.
I went there within the warranty period. The product is worth under $200, a lot of companies don't bother repairing these value items.
Also as I said many people (including me) on Whirlpool love PCCG and their service.
You can't change the great experiences that other people and I have experienced, going on 10 years now personally myself.

Logged an RA with PCCG Tuesday.
                Dropped it off Friday lunch.
Email received Saturday with option of keeping credit or requesting refund to my credit card.

@Typical16-bitEnjoyer: The standard Australian warranty for goods is 1 year, you may not change this rule.
For some brands like Corsair the standard warranty terms is 3 years upon receiving (delivery at your expense) the faulty item for inspection, you may not change this rule.
You might have a special relationship with your shop who knows.
Also you may not change the fact that I had a very bad experience with PCCG also I'm not alone.
People like me won't go back anymore to the same shop after they receive a bad service, you also may not change this universal rule.

Can confirm these are nice cases. I got a similar case from Fractal Design for my mini-ITX. Simple, minimalist, and you don't have to fight them to open/shut. The provided fans are fairly quiet, and the case materials are quality.

These are classy cases, so don't be put off by the delivery (unless you can find a better deal.

    • +1

You can carry them over from computer to computer too. If you buy a computer case it really can last a decade or so, they don't really get outdated.

      • they don't really get outdated.

There're newer motherboards come with USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C header, e.g. MSI Gaming Pro Carbon, that'll some how make it outdated.

  • +11

Fractal Cases are worth every cent. I know they're not the cheap option, but they're just such high quality components and they last forever. Good airflow, very quiet, look great, well built, easy to build in etc etc.

Even on a cheap budget build i'd spend the extra money to put it in a fractal case.

    • +1

      I concur

    • I wonder if it's better to build or buy ready made dell

      • +2

I prefer to build, not to save money, but because I can specify higher quality parts than dell would ever consider using.

Dell isn't going to put low db fans, gold rated psu's and low latency ram in their computers. The only thing they care about is the CPU, that is all customers recognise.

        • I always build by myself and not only I save money but also compared to what Dell (like others) offer I install much better components.
Consider also that buying a Dell desktop computer is like buying a laptop which means you're stuck with proprietary drivers Dell won't update anymore after a short period.

  • Love Fractal cases! I currently have a what I call a mini fridge which is a Node 304.

    • I bought the same case for my better half. Awesome case.
Swapped out all the fans for Noctua PWM ones on delivery, and removed all drive trays, but otherwise unmodded.
Had to do a lot of study to make sure I got the right parts to fit in, for the mini-ITX build I did, but managed to squeeze an ASUS 980GTX Strix in there!
Even has a huge Noctua NH-D15 Cooler, but had to remove one of the fans to make it fit, as it clashed with the rear case fan.
The Node 304 really is a fantastic case, small footprint but airflow and capacity to fit full size components remains excellent.

Be aware this case does not support 140mm fans on the rear and bottom. The top and front do, but the 2 stock fans are 120mm anyway.

They've also opted to remove the 5.25" brackets (CD/DVD/Blu-ray drives) for a significant reduction in length (10cm+). The other 2 dimensions are only marginally reduced compared with their full fat non C cases.
    413 x 210 x 412mm for the mini C vs 535 x 233 x 448 for the Define R6.

Oh, and the mini C is limited to microATX while the R6 has support for EATX, if anyone still uses that.

    • Other uses for 5.25" that don't require the depth of an optical drive though.

  • Too large

      That's what she didn't say.

shipping prices should be indicated in header because its a case…

I have the Mini C TG and it has to be nicest case I have built a computer inside. Great price, esp if you are in Melbourne and can pick up.

  • +2

I would've been building with this exact same case if it weren't for the fact that I needed to have legacy support for my existing DVD burner… In hindsight, I shouldn't have bothered to keep the damn thing…

    • Recycle it :)

    • +2

Haha I did the same thing and am wondering why I keep it still also now.. I just realized if somebody wants to show me something on old media I can just say no and save a day.

      • +1

Get a data to USB adaptor for $5 off eBay and you can still use your DVD drive in an emergency.

        • Did this so I could use the disc drive from my laptop after I replaced it with an SSD caddy. Can confirm I've used it very rarely, and only for ripping second-hand music CDs off eBay.

    • +1

Grab an external like this, mate: http://www.msy.com.au/viconline/pc-components/14178-asus-sdr…

I got an LG external DVD drive for my current build. I have a Fractal R5 and removed the 5.25 bay for more airflow.
Most modern cases are designed with no 5.25 bay or the option to remove because the trend is all digital.
It looks much nicer without an extra bulky drive and I imagine saves pulling a little power from your power supply to keep it in standby all the time, perhaps a smidge of heat inside the case too.

External optical drives are great, they are tiny and you can just keep it in a draw and pull it out when you need it. I needed it twice in the last 2 years of building this PC, so it's not really worth keeping one stuck in the PC for me. One was for an obscure driver for an old digital camera Windows couldn't find in Windows update and another to install a large Steam game I bought retail back when I had ADSL2 and didn't want to wait to download.

  • I LOVE Fractal Designs cases. Highly recommended for a quality product :)

  • have the fractal node 605, it is very well built and has sound deadening in it as its meant to be a theater case. i have put my overclocked gaming rig in it and it keeps cool better than the old "gaming" cases that i personally never liked the look of.

  • +1

Fractal cases are fantastic, thats a steal price if you looking for a mini-form case

  • +1 for fractal cases. I love my fractal case, dispite it getting discontinued and fractal removing all relevant info for discontinued cases from their website.

  • +2

bought this for my brother, filters are great for a dusty workplace. +1 from me

    • Fractal include some pretty good dust filters, but I found they don't include covers for every opening. For my R5 I got a pack of DemciFlex magnetic filters. They make one for every opening of a case in the pack and you just slap them on. Somehow they are even finer grade than the Fractal ones. I open my case every 6 months or so, and a very thin fine layer of dust on the bottom is there if anything. No chunks in the heatsinks or anything, lovely. Very worth it if you don't like dust in your PC.

  • No front fans?

    • Front: 3 – 120 or 2 - 140 mm fans (includes 1 Fractal Design Dynamic X2 GP12 fan)
      Rear: 1 – 120 mm fan (includes 1 Fractal Design Dynamic X2 GP12 fan)

Assuming coming with 1 at front, 1 at rear.

  • too late, all gone

  • Still worth getting the tempered glass version at $109?

    • I got a Coolermaster with a side window that I didn't want to but the case was on sale.
By the way, the window is facing to the window so no one can appreciate it :)

      • +1

        I appreciate it.

        Sincerely,

        Your stalker.

        Also clean your window.

        • Sorry got a bit excited when I was there a few nights ago.

          Sincerely

      Or even a Define R5 for $99? https://www.pccasegear.com/products/37577/fractal-design-def…

"Limited edition" windowed white case with gold interior trim.

I'm seriously tempted though I'm still happy with my R2…
