      For Bosch tools:

      • Green are usually DIY tools which is good for less demanding jobs.
      • Blue are their Professional Range, which are better built and made to withstand prolonged trade use.

… except when two of my Bosch Blue Tools catastrophically failed thanks to such basic things… one was trigger related (Drill) and the other was the motor capacitor (Sander). Both were a good 4-5 years old at the time but had done very little work and were still in 'as new' cosmetic condition. I'll never buy Bosch again, blue or otherwise. I've since replaced those tools with Ozito Power-X-Change and couldn't be happier. Sure, not precise enough for cabinet making but perfectly fine for most house renovation work.

I've been researching cordless screwdrivers for a few days and the Bosch Go is quite an impressively powerful tool for it's size and form factor. However I wouldn't like to take the risk of getting this from Gearbest or similar OS sellers when for around $1 more (using P5OFF code) you can get it locally (hopefully) on eBay with express postage.

I haven't pulled the trigger on the Bosch yet as I want to have a look at the $49 Ryobi at Bunnings first.

Good point, the ryobi is 600rpm as well. And dealing with a warranty issue would be less painful.

    • I'd be interested to hear what you think of the Ryobi. I was thinking it might be the best of what's available. The Aldi one got me thinking about getting one again, but I didn't want something with poor battery life https://www.aldi.com.au/en/special-buys/special-buys-sat-6-o…

I ended up getting the Ryobi Quick Turn for $49. I'm quite impressed with it. I've tested it screwing 45mm wood screws into pine and it does so without the need for a pilot hole. The 2 speed gearbox with a 600rpm top speed is much faster than most others. However it isn't variable speed and there are no torque settings.

  • had a look on the reviews online. It's PUSH triggered, the switch only changes the driver direction. Just keep that in mind

    • I thought that the switch had an off position too so it can be used in manual mode and on the GB website it shows it being used in manual mode.

Bosch PSR Select 3.6V Cordless Screwdriver - $78 AU Pickup Bunnings

Slightly more expensive, but locally bought, and Bunnings are really a dream 'in my experience' with warranty, which I believe is definitely worth something.
It's worth noting that it comes pre-installed with most of the bits you could ever need in the driver itself, possibly saving you money in the short/long term due to buying/losing bits. You just slide the bit back in, rotate to correct one, and slide out again. Almost foolproof, as you can't lose your bits! It's seriously torquey too, only had mine 2 weeks, but I was definitely surprised.
Bosch Green, so make of that what you will, but I'm definitely happy so far.

  • More expensive unit but Hitachi (or new name Hi Koki) do a nice 2 spd unit that comes in a 2 battery kit. Stocked at some Total Tools:

Spindle locks for “manual” mode, reversible of course, handle articulates for straight or pistol grip.

  • I'm blue daba Dee daba daaa
