Sony XAV-AX5000: The larger the screen, the better for music controls

With a larger screen which is around 17.6cm (6.95") fully responsive touchscreen display, you can enjoy listening to your favourite music with the best music controls on the Sony XAV-AX5000 as the attentiveness of the screen is 2 1/2 times as responsive as their predecessors with the feature of having two USB ports for more selection of songs using your files on your flash drive on the first one and using your phone's (whether it's Apple or Android phone using Apple Carplay and Android Auto) on the second slot while you are on the road.

For anyone else whose wondering, it's a car media/maps display unit (like a tablet).

  • I'm getting one of these in a few weeks.
If anyone gets one before me, can you tell me what the connector is on the back? I've been trying to find a wire harness from my Kia (or ISO) to whatever it is.

Capacitive screen, much better than the AX100.

  • any advise if this will fit in My 2014 jeep wrangler? Hate the Uconnect system of Jeep Wrangler

From the look of some photos on the web, it looks like a standard 2-DIN slot - so yes, it should fit.

    • About this Product

      Unit Size 2 DIN

    • Check out the Alpine Restyle i209

      I wish it was $484.75 lol :)

      • hahaha, I wish too.

      • The cutting part I am worried about. Bloody Alpine is super expensive but no cutting required. Thank you for the information though.

Recently got the XAV-AX1000 from this mob. Fast delivery, awesome unit, daughter is super happy with it. For people looking to minimize install effort, have a look at Aerpro harnesses. You'll mostly likely need 2, one from the car to ISO, and one from ISO to Sony. They also sell facia kits to fill in the gaps if you standard unit is not DIN standard sizing.

  • Yup stick to an Aerpro harness in order to also retain the use of your steering wheel controls.

They have kits available online for all the cables you need.

Honestly, CarPlay/Android Auto can make the driving experience more convenient and enjoyable.

  • So tempting to get this for my Alfa romeo Guiletta,

Although it looks like some people have issues with the latest iphone Xs and Xs Max so I'm conflicted on how I want to outlay $700 only for it not to work..

  • How to get one of these installed in Sydney area?

    • Go to your local auto electrician.

  • I'm just going to ask because car AV confuses me… With the Sony unit and harnesses, would this be easy enough for a beginner to install in a 2011 (T31) X-Trail Ti with steering wheel controls and reversing camera? Would someone be good enough to link me to the harnesses I need?

    • The Aerpro site has a great page which I think answers my questions:
      https://aerpro.com/vehicles

Just choose the vehicle and input Sony Xav-Ax5000 and away you go.

  • Just purchased for BRZ 2014 - thanks op!!
If anyone needs the harness part #, USB cable through the same store happy to post - came up to $ 623 with cables

  • I would like to get this for my 2004 Honda Accord euro

how do I know its compatible with my car?

  • Did anyone else get a message about delays?

    Hello keyman,

    Good day!

This is [redacted] for the logistics department I just wanted to drop you a quick message about your purchase. We have actually had to hold your order because we have found the last few reverse cameras that we have in stock have actually been water damaged and while they maybe fine it’s not something we want to risk, I have had some new ones ordered and they are due in first thing tomorrow.

Our apologies on this one, we only realized that this was an issue when one of our packers noticed some water stains on the packaging, it seems that even though it may only be a few units effected we have let the supplier know and they are taking back the whole lot, the new cameras have already left our supplier and they will be with us very shortly, and from there we will get them added to your order and shipped out to you asap. We would rather be safe than sorry and make sure that every thing we ship you is 100% no matter how slight the chances are of damage.

    Followed by another message:

Your package should leave us with the brand new camera in around 24 hours; we have scheduled extra staff to help out with getting you order out as soon as the replacement camera gets in.

Please let me know if you have any questions at all we are 100% here to help!

Happy that they're providing updates, was wondering why my tracking number was showing no scans for the past few days.

    • shouldn't the camera be waterproof anyway :p
