I am not sure if this has been free before but I do not think so as it is likely I would have seen it then and also that someone else would have posted it here.
Note: I googled it and it seems the free version was released on 31 August 2018. So worth posting and a good deal to try out if you like the game and it is worth it for you to buy the full version.
The free edition lets you play offline against bots and allows spectating matches through GOTV.

My youngest makes a good deal of pocket money trading on CS:GO, so don't discount its educational value.

CS:GO trading has been dying for a long time.

@tomsco: I am ok with neg reviews in gaming so long as are about product quality. Ship it like Goat Simulator, and I expect the community to tell me its full of bugs, half the game is stuck behind a paywall, I wanna know about. You dont like mmo wargames - irrelevant.

Sorry. I don’t even play CS any more, haven’t in years. It’s just it’s such a special game to me from the CS 1.X time when I was a teenager. To me it’s THE FPS of all time and a masterpiece.

There have also been good Counter Strike family bundles. There was also a Humble Bundle.

This is a good way to check if you like the gameplay before you buy - for that $5US is still too much. And it was not available for free to try out at all until recently so I and probably many other people consider this a pretty good deal.
@Lysander: Place the T-handle between your legs after setting the date and power to the desired time. Make sure there is adequate ventilation.

yep its free but kinda meaningless to play this game against the bots. this is the game basically renown for its multiplayer game.
