  The statement about the hub being a "reliable power supply for nearly all your gadgets" is a bit of a stretch. USB 3.0 only allows 0.9A and there's no supplementary power input. Once you have a portable hard drive hanging off that, it will be a challenge to power any other gadgets.

    Indeed.

    You can buy powered hubs with AC power which will supply full USB power.

    Unpowered hubs can be irritatingly flaky meaning devices stop working randomly.

  ORICO MH4PU are ok, but don't expect to have much power coming from them. I can even use my 128gb samsung fix and mouse dongle as it lacks power. Good really only for non-powered devices

  I bought this one previously "ORICO 2.5 inch USB 3.0 External Hard Drive Enclosure for HDD / SSD".

  However on usage, after around 15mins, power is cut off even during active usage, has anyone else experienced this? I got 2 units and its happens on both

  I do not recommend clamping it to your monitor. It looks stylish but it's impractical. Every time you insert or remove a USB device, you will tilt your screen off center. I'm someone very OCD about positioning. The screen has to be exactly centered. Even with the monitor's built in USB ports I use mini extension cables.

  I would clamp this to the desk instead.

    Same here. I have a ruler on my desk to measure my screen position. And my keyboard has to be parallel to the screen.

      ROFL. That's exactly what I do. When I get a new monitor, I use a ruler to make sure height is even at both sides of the panel, and distance to the desk at both sides. Sometimes I use a spirit measure, but that's of limited usefulness.

      I use the Dell logo as my point of reference to ensure my chair is aligned exactly so that my eye level is directly in line with the Dell logo.

      I don't care too much about the keyboard. It moves around a lot.

    Update after failing to checkout once more: It's a problem when I use paypal checkout.
    However the creditcard via paypal checkout method worked immediately. Strange behavior.
