Beats by Dr. Dre Powerbeats 3 Wireless Earphones - Yellow $74 (RRP $259) @ Officeworks (in-Store Only)

890

Hello everyone,
Just wanted to share this amazing deal I got hold of earlier today. Certain colours of Powerbeats 3 wireless earphones (Beats by Dr. Dre) are on clearance in-store at Officeworks (Item Code: INBEPB3WYE).
I managed to get hold of Yellow ones in WA for merely $74. This is insane price considering they are currently being sold for $259 at Myer and $258 at Harvey Norman. Even the grey import ones are $199+Delivery at Kogan

If you don't manage to get hold of Yellow, the Red ones are also on sale for only $140, which is still almost half the price of any other major retailers (JB/Harvey etc.)
Stock would be very limited (being a clearance item), so get in quick if interested. Cheers!

    • Legendary work mate :)

      • +1

This is for the yellow though. I haven't checked the other colors.

EDIT: Actually that's not true. that includes some of the other colors.

        • Solid work mate. If my store isn't there do I assume stock = 0?

          • @Hardicus: Possibly. I might miss out few stores with 1 unit

            • @od810: Cool thanks, I might make the trip then on the off chance.

    • Looks like Mandurah didn't get the memo…

    • I'm assuming one of the FTG stores is actually Glen Waverley? (Awesome work btw!)

      • +1

TBH, I don't really know. I assume that is the one on burwood highway in FTG!? If you see same store multiple times, that is for different colors. I should have extracted with the model number

        • +1

@od810 will it be possible for you to provide an update on the stock at the Werribee store? Thanks a ton.

  • -3

thanks OP great find but I'm saving for this year's black friday and cyber monday sale. Hoping to get a decent sale on the Bose qc2

    • +5

      Are you from 2008?

Dr. Dre is well regarded in his profession for examining the Aftermath of Chronic ear conditions and pioneering discovery of such issues with his Interscope (similar to a stethoscope).

  • this is a store specific price.

I got one on saturday for $95.

  • Be careful with these apparently they are of very low quality.
    https://www.apple.com/au/shop/product/ML8V2PA/A/powerbeats3-…
Good on apple for not interfering with reviews though.

    • +7

14 months in the rubber cover has come off the volume controls :\ I hardly treated them bad either. The glue just failed. Probably worth $74 but not $259 that's for sure.

      • +1

thats what happened to my powerbeats 2 (bought for $140) after 18 months. I double pressed to skip and it crumbled.

wasnt gonna get another pair, but I did for $78 (about 15 months ago). That one is still working ok.

I wont pay over $100 for these. for $80. They are ok.

    • +3

been using mine daily for 2 years… no issues whatsoever..

      • Likewise… Ran in a pair everyday for the last 2+ years, no issues at all. Stopped using recently because I got airpods, but still use these as back up when travelling.

    • My beatsx are still going strong and sound good.

    • Thanks for pointing. However, almost everywhere else these have good to great reviews e.g. Reviewed,Product Review, CNET. Not saying these are perfect in any way, but relying on just one webpage might not be very representative either.

    • +5

They're about branding, not sound quality.

      • …or build/endurance

    • +1

I had the Powerbeats 2 which I gave to my brother and ‘upgraded’ to power beats 3..
ridiculous the different and how much worse the 3’s were than the 2’s.. I actually thought my pair were faulty, and got them exchanged that’s how bad they were comparatively..

    • I’ve had a few pairs of the 3s (and 2s, and 1s). The 1s were probably the least troublesome. Excellent quality across all 3 for sound, battery and build. When they’re working. When they commonly stop charging, then you have to hit up Apple support and eventually they replace them. I’ve gone through my 4th replacement pair of 3s since they came out. Apple eventually relents so push the case if this happens to you…

Great price though! Shame this colour is ugly ;)

  • Make sure you buy extended warranty. Because of the price, it only costs less than $15. I bought it because the battery is guaranteed to deteriorate. If it fails to turn on some day, I will just claim warranty.

    • +2

the battery is guaranteed to deteriorate. If it fails to turn on some day, I will just claim warranty.

you can claim warranty because battery deteriorate after months/years of usage?

      • +1

Honestly the battery on these things is huge, I've never run out charging them daily ish. The only issue I've had with them is the build quality.

    • +4

Why don't you just exercise your rights under Australian Consumer Law? The warranties under that are pretty strong.

      • Can confirm as above, always had positive experience getting a replacement. Just gotta be persistent with your issue and they send them away 1-2X…

        • Good to know but for extra $15, is it worth the hustle to argue our right under the consumer law?

  • +1

    BHABHABHA Beats!

  • +5

Do not get these, there’s a reason why they are on clearance.

    • -2

They are on clearance on only one store (that too for specific colours) and selling on RRP everywhere else even after 2 years of launch. Not sure there's much to back your claim. Surely not with the RRP, but for this price it's a no-brainer IMO.

      • -1

You stick out of the crowd, baby, it's a no-brainer
It ain't that hard to choose
Him or me, be for real, baby, it's a no-brainer
        You got your mind unloose
Go hard and watch the sun rise
One night'll change your whole life
        Off top, drop-top, baby it's a no-brainer

  • These should be called Bleats, because they're for freakin' sheep!

Seriously though…they're poor quality headphones. Avoid.

  • Just got the last $83 ones from Newcastle. Red.

    • Thanks OP :)

  • How do people find these for running?
Stay in? Stay in after 5km when sweaty etc?
I'm not as worried about sound quality as I am comfort / staying in place. My Jaybird X2s are great for the first few kms, but then they need 'pushing back in' every few hundred metres and I often just abandon them by the 8/9km mark.

    • Get the soundpeats q30. I accidentally cut my Jaybirds in half and got those as a replacement. Brilliant for their price

I had the same problem running with my x2s

    • +1

With the ear clips these are not going anywhere. Sometimes the cable tugs at your ears etc if it catches on your shirt as it's a flat cable it catches easily. That's really the only comfort issue. You won't lose them though.

      • Same, never had an issue running 10-20km+ distances.

    • I do like these for running as they hook over the ear. Do not expect a good sound seal. However that is a plus for me as I can still hear traffic.

  • Checked WA stores by phone.
Only Jandakot said they ‘might’ have stock.
Everywhere else is out of stock.

    • I just checked a handful in person, should have followed your lead and called.

I'm NOR so didn't want to drive to Jandakot to check…

    • +1

I was told over the phone Jandakot was the only one as well but called Freo and they had one left. Best to call local stores individually to find out - I got lucky!

      • FYI, they’re now all sold out at Jandakot.
Managed to get the last two.
        Absolute bargain!

  • +1

I checked around adelaide and called. Noting around :(

    • +2

      What did you note?

Probably not much considering Adelaide :P

  • Can you price match those with any OW store?

    • When I was buying mine, the checkout guy was saying people were trying to do that, he said they can't.

  • I know dumb but tried to pricematch with HN on chat. NO GO! :(

    • +1

Not dumb, you tried, they could of said yes then others would have benefited too…
      99% wouldn't bother to try…

      Cheers

  • One blue @ $119 left in Ferntree Gully at 8.15am. Several other types of Bluetooth headphones on clearance too.

  • +1

Got the last yellow pair for $75 @ Kew East

  • Went to Caroline springs but they were sold out they had a few black ones that were still at $259 i tried to get them to price match there own product brought the price ticket of the red one ($129) to the counter but they wouldn't budge.

I might head back there in a few days see if they reduce the cost of the black ones because they had a few left

good job to anyone who got one!

  • +1

Picked up 2 red ones at freo (wa) last night for 85$. They had atleast one left if anyone didnt mind the 11$ extra.

They scanned for full price at the counter originally, then on the handheld they scanned at the clearance price.
