I generally try not to base my purchase off the cashback itself as I see it as free money on top of something I was going to purchase anyway :) Although it's a bit hard not to take that into consideration for increases like these or the mobile plan cashbacks.
It's understandable that people find the time it takes for the cashback to be paid out quite unreasonable, but from what I understand, cashback isn't paid out immediately as this is to prevent people from gaming the system by returning items a month later or cancelling their purchase.
I initially made the mistake of already having the items in my cart after clicking through CR, however now that I am aware of that rule, I haven't had a problem since then.
I get this point of view, and completely agree that is the way to go. From now on I certainly won't bank on cashback working at all (it completely influenced my purchase as it was only moderately better than ebay 20% futu, which I held out on for a week). Asking for a refund and cashback/Amazon is dead to me…

Pretty misleading with the $100 cap on cashback.
Under Special Terms on the page, there's no mention on the $100 cap.
You only see it when clicking on the Special Terms link on the right which is the exact identical list with 1 extra line added $100 Cap.

This system of make a huge purchase now and maybe in a month we might give you some money back if you solve the davinci code of adding to your cart at the right time is way to risky. Stick with Ebay.
