They can. It depends on why the card failed. Accidental format or deletion of the card will see many photos recoverable.

they should do one for HDD. Anyone know a free or cheap way to recover deleted files? Couldn't restore thru windows. Is there a time limit to recovering files? (sounds dumb i know)
