Could we please have the Q Acoustics 3020 back down to $299, I am one of the unlucky buyers who missed out!

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/408658

    • Unfortunately we can't bring those down anymore as it was only a 3-day sale. These are still a fantastic buy though for $199!!

  • +1

    And just like that, bought!

  • How do you select the color when adding to the cart?

    • When putting your order through online, specify in the 'Order Notes' your colour preference in order from 1-4 (1 being the highest).

    • Once you go to add your details in for shipping, you can out your preference in the 'Order Notes' section :)

      • +1

Ah - pays to read the whole OP!

  • Sweet deal. Got a pair for ~$180 last week and oh sweet sounds….

    • How?

      • +1

was on selby thornbury ebay site but limited quantity and it's gone now.

    • +6

      You didn't post the deal??

      • +12

nope as there was only 5 in stock and pickup only from selby thornbury.

  • Any cheap amp to go with this ozb friends?

  • Can these be used instead of a soundbar with a TV?

    • +2

They're a passive speaker so they will need to be connected to an amplifier :)

      • -2

Can I use headphone amplifiers? I guess an O2 ODAC?

        • Uh no.

An amp with atleast 2 channel output.

          • +4

@scuderiarmani: I too love my mono headphones.

  • Good enough for surround sound speakers?

    • Depends on the rest of your system. What do you have?

      • 3.1 (monitor audio bronze 2 bookshelves, centre + 12 inch sub)

        • They should be fine with your system.

    • +1

They're great all round speakers, a good starting point for a 2.0 system.

    • +3

      Yeah; you'll be fine

  • +3

How would these compare to the Voll speakers?

    • +3

Personally I feel that this sounds marginally better than the Voll speakers. It's heavier and bigger too. On top of that there is that 5yr warranty for Q acoustics.

  • Website appears to have gone down in between me doing some reading and adding the item to my cart.

    • Sorry about this we are currently trying to rectify this issue as there is so much traffic coming through. Hopefully we can have it up and running again very soon.

      • +1

I love OzBargain…we go wild for great speakers and then noise cancelling headphones :)

  • Don't know too much about speakers. I'm currently using Logitech z5500 that I've had for many years. Am I better swapping out those speakers for these? Mainly using them to listen to vinyl records.

    • +3

      Easily

    • +1

You'll definitely get better sound out of these speakers in comparison to what you already have. Especially when listening to vinyl records :)

      • If you want to price match Selby on the Q3070 @ $379.05,I'll add it to my order.

        • Unfortunately we can only price match a listed price on their website and from an authorised dealer, and it is not listed at that price, nor are they an authorised Q Acoustics dealer anymore. :)

          • -6

@FunkyDan: So "Find a lower comparable price online? We'll beat it" is BS!

You're not called FunkyDan due to your musical tastes, are you :)

            • +1

@Dave Id: If they do have it for a lower price on their website we will price match even if they are no longer an authorised Q Acoustics dealer, however as I mentioned I couldn't see it for that price on their website, and therefore we cannot price match something we cant see.

            • +1

              @Dave Id:

So "Find a lower comparable price online? We'll beat it" is BS!

Pretty sure he just demonstrated why it is not a 'lower comparable price'…

              • @djkelly69: I'm quite confident that FunkyDan knows Selbys are selling at my stated price on eBay.

                • +3

@Dave Id: I'm quite confident that most retailers don't price match eBay

                  • +2

@pwnd: That is correct we don't price match eBay, as most retailers would not.

                • +3

                  @Dave Id:

Selbys are selling at my stated price on eBay

So that is the price after applying a coupon?? - not many retailers (if any?) match eBay prices, and certainly not after applying a coupon.

      • +1

Trying to buy a pair but finding the site is running really slow?

        • +2

I'm having the same issue, it's been OzBargained.

        • SloW? Getting hammered and unable to cope :(

        • We are currently trying to rectify this issue. I believe, as mentioned below, it has been 'OzBargained' haha

    • +1

I changed from z906 to Q Acoustics 2000 series a few years ago. Both a previous generation relative to this comparison but otherwise a similar change.

I enjoyed my z906 for years but for audio clarity the difference changing to something decent like these Q Acoustics is startling. Literally. Listening to Cold Chisel's Saturday Night, during the song opening when there is background voices, there is one point where the background voice gets a bit louder. The first time I listened to this, I jumped in my chair because I thought there was somebody in the room!

For mid to high frequencies, I find the difference to be like your ears suddenly becoming unblocked.

Keep in mind of course that the bass will be nothing like the sub that comes with the Logitech. Regardless of whether you enjoy the relatively boomy bass of those subs or not, bookshelf speakers will never have the same bass presence, especially with only a 4" like in the 3010. Pair them with a sub if you still want to enjoy your bass.

    • -1

I haven't listened to them, but by the specs and unless you like tiny sound, you'll need a sub and a decent amp >50w. And since you've got to incorporate a sub you'll need an amp w/ dedicated sub out or a miniDSP.

z5500 will 100% sound fuller and more dynamic than just the Q3010's regardless of amp.

But if you go w/ Q3010 + Q3070S and nice amp w/ sub out or miniDSP that should be pleasing.
Personally I would only use the Q3010's as side or rear 7.1/5.1.
I don't play loud, I like detail and accuracy, all my audio amps are Class A (5-20w).

    • I'm currently using Logitech z5500 that I've had for many years. Am I better swapping out those speakers for these?

No, z5500 is an all-in-one near-field surround sound system - DTS/Dolby decoder and built-in amplifier optimised for the tiny drivers in its 5 speakers. z5500 is the best there was for its intended use, but its not HiFi.

  • are these speakers better than edifier r1700bt which i got from a previous deal? I know edifiers are active while these are passive. Can i get better sounds with these ones say with a 100aud amp?

    • i mean just the speakers wise without considering an amp..how would they compare for music listening

    • I don't think both speakers can be considered truly monitor.

      • you reckon both not good enough for music?

        • +1

I reckon both not good enough for music production. I consider that the next tier worth upgrading to.

  • How do these compare to the Harmon Kardon Soundsticks III ?

    • Love my (older model) Soundsticks….and take up so little space.

Will be interested if this is answered.

been thinking about getting the new Voll B44 V2's, are these worth nearly double the money?

    • +3

I would not say so in my opinion. Those Voll B44s are some sweet as speakers for the price. I have both Voll and Q acoustics. I just like spending hence I got the 3010 but I don't feel that it sounds significantly better than the Voll. Q acoustics do come with 5 yr warranty though.

  • Any other way to place an order online?

    • +2

Unfortunately at this point you cannot place an order online, however give one of our stores a call (Preston: 03 94169943)(Hampton:03 95989511) and we can arrange a purchase for you :)

      • Just at a job currently. Open til 7pm yes?

        • Yes that's correct! :)

          • @FunkyDan: Any estimate of when these will be available to purchase online?

            • @jazzilla: You should be able to purchase them online now. Let me know if you have any issues.

              • @FunkyDan: It still says "Out of stock"

                • @elitistphoenix: We're currently doing a final count of how many we have left as there was a massive demand so please give us a call and leave your number with us and once they are back online we can call to let you know that they're available to order again. Last thing we want to do is over sell :)

  • Semi thread Hijack - will be creating a new 7.1 home theatre room on a budget after we finish a reno soon. Room is roughly 4m wide x 3.4 long (couch to be placed along the 4m wall). I was thinking of 4 in-ceiling rears (purely to no clutter the room with wall mounted rears) - but would it be better from a sound experience to have 2 in ceiling and 2 rear wall mounts? These could be used for the wall mounts. Thanks in advance

    • +1

IMHO, I Would prefer you to have 7.1 setup for dolby atmos feeling. Normally an overkill for ur room setup, but atmos is picking momentum and it is good to have it setup now.

So have speakers in walls and ceiling.

Not sure if these are optimal for surround speakers for sides or back wall though. Look for Paradigm package which you can normally have for 40% off in a deal.

    • +1

For your rears, you are mainly looking at the higher ranges, with your base coming from elsewhere. You don't have a big room, so I might question if you need 7.1, but if you are set I'd probably look to two small conventional satellites to the sides on stands, and two small speakers in downlights to the rear. That way you can put actual lights in there if you move and they disappear. eg https://www.apollohifi.com.au/cambridge-audio-minx-c46-in-ce…

    • Yep this is enough to drive these speakers :)

      • Yep.

  • Can some one please advise me about how will these babies go as surrounds with Paradigm Monitor 9?
    Any advise is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

    • Not enough grunt.

  • To double check, these are being sold as pairs and do I need to get a separate amp to use them?

  • What's the difference between these and the 3020?

    • +1

      $200.

Tiny bit of bass and a smidge of volume.

      Not that much really.

      • +2

What higher priced audio is in a nutshell. People overpaying for diminishing returns

  • How do these compare to the models below?
    - Jamo C93
    - Klipsch RP-150M
    - Wharfedale Diamond 220

    • Fairly well to the Wharfedales, given the current price of $199.

No comparison to the others. Different market segment.

      • Thanks for the feedback. How about compared the Jamo A320 Satellite?

        http://www.jamo.com/products/a320

        I really appreciate the advice.

        • +2

Not that much in it,however these will have better bass than the Jamo.

If I was you I'd grab these @ $199. I'm me and already have :)

          Actually downsizing my desktops.

  • Does anyone know if I'd be able to control the volume of these speakers with my Xbox media remote?

    • If you are set up properly, yes.
Prolly just by adjusting the volume on your XBone before the signal gets to your amplifier.

    • You can't directly control the volume of these speakers. But you can certainly control the receiver/amp that the speaker is connected to.

      https://au.ign.com/wikis/xbox-one/How_to_Control_Your_TV_Vol…

I don't know how extensively they support each make and model, but even though my Pioneer receiver model was not on the list, it still worked after I selected a similar model.

AFAIK, the Media Remote emulates the IR signals that your amp/receiver remote sends.

In effect, the Media Remote is a universal remote - albeit tethered to the XBOX One.

  • How do they stack up to the JBL LS305?

    • If you can source remaining stock at a similar price, grab them.

      They do use different inputs.
