Pfff everyone knows real audiophiles use Bluetooth. /s

    • Bluetooth is for plebs. Get an optical-to-fm radio converter, and tune in to that stereo sound.

      Real audiophiles use Ghetto Blaster

  • $649 for a single dynamic driver earphones?

Shure SE846 is like $869 at the moment though

      • Can't beat them I paid about the same 6 months ago.

If you want BT with them you should buy the Westone Wx as an addition they use the same connectors, about $189, better BT and sounds much better than the Shure BT that comes with the 215's

Alternate option is the Westone Wx and Shure 425's probably come out with better bang for the buck only a true audiophile would pick out the difference.

the Westone Wx's are small and comfortable I use them as ear buds at night instead of wrecking my 846's accidentally in my sleep.

These aren't like any dynamic driver single or not. These sound absolutely fantastic only marred by some questionable build quality decisions such as stiffening of the cable. But the driver itself, it's remarkable what Senn has achieved with a 7mm.

      • yes the cable. i have very big concern about the cable…
if anyone had issue with their IE800 i would love to hear

I have the IE 800, the cable is a bit stiff (it’s Kevlar!) and has significant microphonics but they are very durable, and easy to untangle. The sound from the IE 800 is sublime. Don’t let the dynamic driver fool you, it’s very well balanced. Check out my review if interested goo.gl/as1V4q

      • I guess I'm surprised because I've got the "Senfer DT2 Plus" which I only now just realised are the chi-fi knockoffs of the Sennheiser IE800. The Senfer DT2+ sound crispy clear with great low end bass but they've got a 9mm dynamic driver and two balanced armatures - one for mids and another for trebles.
I'm impressed that Sennheiser was able to make their flagship IEM with single 7mm dynamic drivers.

Holy shit that's expensive. Am I only one who finds inear to be painful and uncomfortable at best?

    • +1

expensive yet i find it great value for money if you are looking at this tier

rivals are priced at nearly $900-1000 and these were $1000+ when they were brand new
for reference, the updated IE 800 S are selling at $1400

so for half the price, older these $649 IE 800 are great bang for bucks

    • For me it was the first 2 times, but eventually got ever the pain within a week. I guess it is a matter of getting used to them.

Could buy 20 pairs of xiaomi's i rekn

    • Are twenty Xiaomi better than one IE800?

Now I can listen to Taylor Swift as if she was whispering in my ears

    • Check out Twitch, there seems to be a lot of that!

Kids love it. My son says this is one of the best earphones he has used. Planning to buy him a few more.

I spent $600ish on a great set of IEMs a few years ago. From a practicality perspective, they are easy to carry around but they are also easy to lose, particularly on public transport. Consider a case - get a slightly bigger than required (so that you're not fumbling to put the earphones in), non-black (so you can see it if you drop it) carry case.
