Wtf…. 9 nights and only two ports?

And one of those two ports is Noumea, possibly the most boring port of the south pacific!

    • +3

yeah it actually docks in noumea for 2 nights. seems very expensive for a cruise with 2 ports. good price compared to the royal carribean site though.

      • +2

The unfortunate reality is, almost all cruises stop at neumea to take on supplies and swap out the entertainment acts. Two nights is a real booby prize though.

The last cruise I did with rci was 8 nights for $830 with three south pacific ports.

        • a real booby prize

          So thats the attraction yhen?

      • Royal carribean works out slightly cheaper and it's 3 ports

    • +2

I prefer Noumea over Port Vila - the locals are so friendly.

It's a bit slow around the port area if you arrive late afternoon - but nice around the bays and beaches.

  • $200 saving then going through Ask Donald then RCCL

  • Bad deal, this is more expensive than normal prices

$1298 pp for a 2-person room and 3 ports not just 2. Includes premium drink package and $100 on board spending money.

Gets a lot cheaper than this when there is a sale.

It's disgenious to compare P&O with the biggest and arguably the most luxurious ship that visits Australia. Half the experience is the ship itself. It's not a ferry service.

          • -6

@poor_me: What does this have that P&O doesn't? Is it worth paying more and only getting only one worthwhile port?

            • +2

@Quantumcat: You obviously have no idea about this ship………….do yourself a favour and google Ovation Of The Seas

            • +2

@Quantumcat: What does this have that P&O doesn't? Less (profanity) bogans for one thing!

            • +1

@Quantumcat: Having done around 4 cruises now, 1 of them being on the Ovation, I 100% agree with everyone else. The Ovation was by far the most amazing ship I have seen. Absolutely cannot compare it to any other ship I have personally been on.

          • @poor_me: Exactly you can't compare P&O ships to the Ovation Of The Seas,I know i've been on both

            • -2

@kiwibro: So, tthere's nothing additional. You're just paying more money for the same thing. Not very OB of you.

              • +5

@Quantumcat: Mate, if you are too lazy to google Ovation of the Seas, then stick to your P&O. Enjoy!

Edit: by the way, why stay at the Hilton, if an Ibis is much cheaper and they both provide a bedroom and a bathroom?

              • +1

@Quantumcat: Mate do some research before you start talking shit

                • -1

                  @kiwibro: @kiwibro, @Quantumcat, @Nachotroncoso. And it's on!

This reminds me of the news a few months ago about a cruise ship having to do an emergency stop to disembarc some angry 'Islanders' after they had gotten into a biffo' with some 'Aussie Bogans' or there abouts…

I think you all need a break now, please tell me what cruise ship and date you are taking so my family and I can avoid it!.

I've been thinking of going on a first cruise, but I really want to avoid easily ignitable passengers, that are supposed tone on vacation.

                  • +1

@ozf1: What the hell are you talking about mate??
I have been on the Ovation Of The Seas 3 times and have never had any dramas whilst on board.i am here offering fellow Ozbarginers some great inside information for people such as yourself so you have a better idea of what it's like to cruise on The Ovation Of The Seas.
Oh I'm sailing on The Ovation Of The Seas 10 nights to New Zealand leaving Sydney on Jan 3 2019,my room number is 11164 please feel feel to drop by and say hi and I'll happily buy you a beer for your trouble

              • @Quantumcat: You have zero idea about this AWESOME SHIP so stop trying to think you know OK

                • -2

@kiwibro: No one has been able to give one concrete thing that's different. There is a sale on now for $790/9 nights for a cruise in November. I'm not interested in paying $600 for such an intangible benefit. I like Lindt but not so much that I'm willing to pay twice as much as Cadbury, they're both very nice chocolate.

                  • +1

@Quantumcat: Mate have you actually done any research on the Ship before you still keep on asking your stupid questions????
Everything is different………..The Ovation Of The Seas is Bigger Better and uncompareable to P&O it has heaps more things to do onboard…Can you do iFly on P&0 ? NO Is there a Waverider on P&O NO Is there A Northstar on P&O NO The list goes on and on
I think that maybe The Ovation Isn't for you so maybe you should just stick to your cheaper budget P&O ships

                    • -2

@kiwibro: IFly you can do for around $100 and you get 2 flights not 1 https://downunder.iflyworld.com/prices_packages?code=

Waverider and North Star look fun but I don't personally think it's $500 worth of fun. At least there's something to base a judgement on now!

                      • +1

@Quantumcat: Go away mate and do your own research I'm over wasting my time talking to you as it's pointless.Stick to your cheap budget cruises mate and do us all a favour
who said you only get 1 iFly flight anyway?

                        • -1

                          @kiwibro: WOW!.
And it's still on like Donkey Kong!.
No thanks, i don't drink beer, that's too povo for me! Im an spiritual individual.
Thanks all, I think cruises not for me, at least on land I can get far, far away from the like of all 'yous'!

                          • @ozf1: Mate let me reasure you there is nothing "POVO" about The Ovation of The Seas……..yes you said it mate do us all a favour and stick to the land holidays as we don't need your sarcastic type on this ship

  • Price seems quite good?
Online prices seems a lot more expensive.

  • +1

    $1315 p.pax ($2630 for 2 People)

    Correct

  • Sydney Again..

  • +2

Warning for Ovation of the Seas. The cruise liner is just way too big for many Oceanic ports. Loading and unloading of pax takes FOREVER, especially with a tender service like at Mystery Island. But stay aboard and its ok.

  • +1

Price seems good. Turns out to be $146.11 per night per person. You get buffet breakfast, lunch, dinner and Ovation of the Seas entertainment is very good. You also get to travel to South Pacific, but only 2 ports and get a place to sleep.

    • -6

Compare to other cruises, not staying in hotels. Cruises should be less than $80/night to be a good price. You will end up spending more than $100/day on things on board and activities at the destinations.

      • +3

I guess so but we only spent ~$100 for the whole 10 day cruise on this very ship. Depends on your lifestyle I guess.

    • Not just buffets you can get free premium 4 course dinners too and all sorts of othersorts of complimentary food options are available. In my opinion bugger lining up for the buffets when you can get amazing free a la carte meals along with all the service that goes along with it.The wait staff on the Ovation really look after you thats for sure

      • -2

There are several a la carte restaurants on P&O cruise liners too

      • How do you get the free premium 4 courses?

  • +2

The Ovation Of The Seas is an awesome experience.I've cruised on Ovation 3 times now and it represents awesome value and the services and entertainment, restaurants are amazing.Theres just so much that you can do on board.the iFly.the Wave Rider,The Northstar, heaps of bars, restaurants, endless first class shows, awesome restaurants
TIP Check out the Wonderland Restaurant on board you have to pay extra US $49 per head but its absoulutely an amazing dining experience worth every cent too or check out the 3 and 4 night specialty restaut pass on board where you can dine at 3 or 4 specialty restaurants at a really discounted price………..well woth the dollars

    • +1

      +1 Wonderland

    • I will book them :)
      Anything else you recommend?

      • +1

Avoid windjammers unless you’re content with average buffet food. Explore the ship and find the hidden gems.

      • Mate it all depends on your taste but for me I have tried all the restaurants both complimentary and paid and I enjoyed the food but for me I think if you are wanting something a little bit special and more intimate try the speciality restaurants as there are only smaall numbers of diners and its definately nice to get away for some quiet times,You can purchase different dining package option like 3 or 4 night or total dining packages which are excellent value,I chose a 10 night dining package and it cost around $350 AUS per head and you can dine in the speciality restaurants for lunch and dinner

Here is a link for Wonderland https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zzZmBlIw1gc

  • any drink packages options?

    • Yes you can buy drink packages online before you board or you can buy packages onboard. There are several different options available but they are not cheap, everything on board Royal Carribean is charged in $US.The price of the drinks packages vary but a premium drinks package will cost you around AUS $70-80 per day so you have to be drinking a fair bit to get your moneys worth

      • So use 28degrees credit card while onboard?

        • +1

Everything is "room charged" then you get to pay the bill on departure where you can use your 28degrees card. Not sure if tipping is included or added.

  • How do you book restaurants in advance?

    • Once you have booked you get a booking number. Then you go online and you can book restaurants services and buy drink packages etc

  • Donald, I'd like to ask… why would someone name a travel/cruise agency "askdonald?"

    • sounds better than ask trump

  • -2

Be aware that this cruise company charges gratuities, which will add quite a lot to the price.

    • +1

They are included in the price for all cruises that leave Australia

    • Did they change that again? When we went last year (Jan 2017) the grats were included. Anyway, it's fairly simple to get them removed

      • same here, has gratuities when we cruised with them in Oct 2016.and they encouraged everyone to give extra tips to their favourite waiter/ress by giving you an envelope, which we did, cause the service waiter/ress provided was just too good.

    • Can we adjust gratuities?

      • +1

nope, all fixed in the price now. You can pay extra tips if you like

    • +1

Not for cruises leaving oz, already in the price
