    Thank you! Needed some more.

    • +24

If that discount was active, then yes.

  • Thanks.

  • The Block Curry is fantastic, my fav at the moment.

  • +9

They're just so small though :/ the only thing that holds me back..

    • +4

I'm with you. I'm slim and not a huge eater, but I'd happy pay a few dollars extra for a proportionate increase in food size. I'm always left wanting an extra 30%.

      • +3

Problem is that much of their target market is after weight loss. And these @ 30% bigger would not enable that. They're already up to 2400+ KJ for some (which I'd avoid). Maybe if they offered a 'large size' along side? Suspect for the moment their market isn't big enough to support that, and few would pay that price. I guess a few more of the snacks might sort that need for some people.

    • +1

They have a new "YF larger" range which are 30% larger.

      • +2

Where is that? I couldn't find it! Thanks :)

  • +1

    Thanks perfect timing.

  • +1

So how does YouFoodz work? is it frozen or delivered cook?

    • +2

      Pre cooked. Delivered chilled

      • just microwave or?

        • +1

Yep either Microwave for a couple of minutes or you could even quickly fry it in a pan.

          • @Saiya: is the portion size respectable?

            • +5

@ayad: Very small portions. Like 270g. A bloke could easily eat 2.

              • @dubo1981: damn. thanks.

              • @dubo1981: So no cheaper than a takeaway then, even at this price.

                • +3

@RubenM: The difference is that their food tastes better. Very noticeably better.

                  • +1

@pifts: A week old (as they're made as a meal a day, and a week old is best case scenario) ready meal tastes better than fresh Thai food (for example) still steaming hot?

I haven't tasted this food, but what are you on?

                    • @RubenM:

                      1. Yes it does taste better bar the portion sizes in my opinion. I also use MealPal so I think I can compare this fairly.

                      2. Yes this is just my opinion, but if you’re actually a worker and decide not to pack food this is a lot better than any $7 “lunch special” or your 20th mass-boxed “fresh Thai food” for the year.

                      3. I’m just sharing my opinion to help others as someone who has used a lot of meal options before. No need to be so passive aggressive about it.

                      • +1

@pifts: I wasn't comparing it to a $7 Thai special, I was going off what someone else said that you'd have to eat two, so I was comparing it to a regular (maybe slightly cheap) $14 Thai meal.
But I take your comment about tone onboard.

                        • @RubenM: Not sure if its just the places around me but I hardly come across a full size pad thai under $13, and most of the time it has no more than 5 pieces of chicken. I would take the lamb shank + beef lasagna ($12 total) anyday.

              • +1

@dubo1981: Depends on the meal, think some are up to 400g. They're 1150 odd KJ for the healthiest to 2400 odd KJ for the most calorie packed. If you're used to eating big meals you could eat a couple. If you're trying to lose weight after a week or two eating one of these your stomach will shrink and you'll be fine with one (and most likely losing weight unless you cram in the snacks).

  • +1

Is this similar to lite n easy, as in portion size etc?

    • +2

I have tried both and Lite N Easy seems a little bigger.

      • +4

I’ve tried both, albeit lite n easy a while ago, and I reckon youfoodz tastes a lot better.

        • I thought the opposite to you.

          • @Kaboda: You're weird :o

This tastes a heap better and you can get a bunch of stuff you can't freeze and is hard to prepare in small quantities.

        • I think so too, I find LnE overly spicy no matter what you choose, and you can't get low carb with LnE whereas with YouFoodz there are heaps of low carb options. Meal size is another matter. I like the size of the LnE meals. However… I'm about to give youfoodz another shot, and make myself eat less.

  • Is this best deal for Youfoodz at the moment or should I wait for a better deal?

    • There is nearly one each week. This is pretty good.

    • +2

Given the Block ends soon (which is where a lot of their deals and marketing is coming from), I would expect the deals to start drying up.

      • +2

I bet their customer base would dry up too.

        • Yeah it will be interesting, I'd imagine the block has substantially boosted their customer base, but I'd bet that growth is unlikely to continue at that rate and may slow without further promotion. Eventually everyone will have heard of them and they'll have to rely on more organic growth or become more competitive in other ways.

  • Does youfooz delivery all 7 meals at once? or on the days I asked?

    • You can choose delivery day from a list

      • One meal per day? or all 7 meals all in one delivery?

        • all in one delivery

        • +26

It's youfoodz not meals on wheels

        • From memory the food stays fresh for up to 13 days.

They are vacuum sealed to hold in freshness and starve off mould / bad bacteria. So no issues in getting them delivered all at the same time and eating one every day over a week.

          • @Name: They say 7-9 days and 6-8 for further away areas. Though yeah, I've had the odd one with a 13 day expiry. Depends on the meal. I think some of the fish ones should be eaten within 4-5 days.

If you're ordering more than the minimum each time there's nothing stopping you from getting multiple deliveries a week. I don't because I don't trust them to leave it safely at my apartment block so I get them delivered on the weekend. Last time they didn't even bother to send the 'meals are on the way' and 'delivered' emails which have been sent every other time. The first order even had SMS's when it was delivered (next door!).

  • +1

Thanks. Just ordered 8 meals. Saved about $23.

    • Did you also pay $20 for shipping?

      • Nah. Free.

        • +7

Not worth it if you're in Perth

          • @ChatGPT-4: The food is cooked in Brisbane and having it delivered fresh is part of the appeal. Until they grow enough to be able to open a kitchen on the west side then it's not going to be worth it for you guys.

  • +5

Thanks. Free gift too. Hope it’s not the grocery bag again… I need a new coffee cup.

  • What do u mean min $69.65? No minimum when I ordered. 8 meals for $56.xx

    • +1

      Min spend before discount.
Some of these deals don't restrict it to just meals, so you could make up the order with just snacks, but it would need to be min $69.65 before discount

  • Are these a good size? I'd be interested in them as a convenient healthier option to getting takeaway all the time for lunch but if they're tiny, I'll just be hungry a couple hours later…I have a big appetite :(

    • +4

They're pretty small servings, everyone's different but after a few days the size has become normal to me and I barely even snack.

      • 270g. Lucky to have 100g of protein.

        • Yep, highest I can see is the Beef Lasagne with 43.5g protein. Doesn't really bother me though.

      • +5

Same. Although I usually have them for lunch. But similar outcome.

We actually eat more than we need to as our portion size has increased over the past 50 years.

        https://www.yourweightmatters.org/portion-sizes-changed-time…

    • They are pretty small, but good for dieting because of it. About 1200-1600kj per serve. Means if you ate 3, you'd be a bit less than the daily suggested KJ intake for a moderately healthy person.

      • Yeah, there are some in there that are ~2400 Kj. So best to avoid those ones in particular for dieting. :o

      • "bit less"
Yeah, about half! This is not sustainable

    • +6

The reason they're healthy is the portion size is what most adults should eat with 3x meals a day. What most adults do eat however is more. Some of the meals are not very healthy if you ate a 'regular' portion. They're basically 270 cal for the healthiest up to almost 600 cal for the least healthy. Choose wisely.

They're really competing with a six inch subway sub on size / calories etc, not a footlong, if that's any reference. Personally I'm full on 2 a day + 1 snack. But that's weight loss territory for calories. If you're not trying to lose weight or you have an athletic build you'll be topping this up with something else for sure.

  • -4

I tried them from the last offer but their potions is so tiny for a meal, not filling for me. I'm just normal guy weigh 69kg.
Maybe it depends which meal you order but Flamin Chicken only had like 2.5 tiny bite sized chicken ball and rest was veggie.

If I was paying full price I rather get 9 piece KFC on Tuesday plus some salads.

    • +4

If I was paying full price

      but you're not…
Plus free delivery also (non WA)

  • +2

Starting eating these on occasion when dieting. Sometimes share one for a snack, I often beef them up with an egg, or extra vegetables too.

I'll continue to eat them when not dieting on occasion as they require minimal tidying up, are fast, and tastier then alternatives.

  • +1

how does one get the referral thing to work?

    • Referrals are being reworked atm so it's not working

      • Thanks for the info.
Who wants to shoot me a referral? :P

  • +5

Got this last time - compared to lite n easy the food is more flavoursome, but there's less of it. You also can't freeze it so it's less convenient. I'll probably get more at this price though.

The biggest issue I have though is that all their communication sounds like it's coming from a 15 year old. They call you fam and throw hashtags into texts. It's annoying as hell.

    • +1

      It's annoying as hell.

Sounds like you're not quite in their target demographic.

      • +3

Neither, but I still take my cooler bag to work saying like "my lunch is better than yours" "hashtag food jealousy" or something on the front.

    • +2

You also can't freeze it so it's less convenient.

You can. But freezing any food will change the texture at the very least, so it might not taste as good when you defrost it.

      • Some of them you really can't (eg salads). IMO if you're freezing them you can probably meal prep yourself anyway. The point for me is a bunch of fresh meals for one person that would have a heap of wastage to prepare each week and take more time than I have. If I were going to make something that was easily prepared / and able to be frozen I'd just make it myself for 1/2 to 1/3 the price.

        • +1

Some of them you really can't (eg salads).

I doubt many people here are paying $6.71 for a salad. ;)

IMO if you're freezing them you can probably meal prep yourself anyway.

Hmm, isn't that missing the point of buying precooked meals? It's to avoid the cooking part.
Freezing them is the same as putting them in the fridge, only half a meter higher. It really doesn't involve much more effort. It's probably less effort as you don't have to bend down. :)

          • @eug: Freezing really degrades the quality of most meals. Some things hold up well, some things do not.

I don't mind cooking, but if I'm cooking I'm going to make 5-6 serves at once to make it worth it. So I'd have to freeze or eat the same thing for a week. For certain high-effort salads and other fresh ingredients you can't freeze them without massively degrading the quality. So even making myself I'd be wasting a heap of ingredients unless I wanted to eat them non-stop all week.

Personally I buy these to get calorie controlled, varied meals that I couldn't easily cook or freeze. If you want pre-cooked meals and are ok with the quality hit that you get from freezing, you can pick them up for half to 2/3 this price from the super market.

Each of these that I've had have some ingredients that just don't freeze well:
            https://youfoodz.com/collections/all/products/loaded-chicken…
            https://youfoodz.com/collections/all/products/bbq-chicken-ch…
            https://youfoodz.com/collections/all/products/chargrilled-le…

Probably most of the others would freeze ok, but since these cost a bit anyway, I don't really see the point in freezing them and ruining the texture etc.

I don't think people are buying this with the intention to freeze all of them. Seeing that the shelf life is 7-8 days (9 for mine), some people might have one or two left over at the end of the 8 days. Those are the ones that people would freeze.

I don't really see the point in freezing them and ruining the texture etc.

As above. You don't freeze them all, you only freeze what you can't finish towards the end.

              • @eug: Ok. Sure. I'd suggest buying less but sure. You can definitely pick one or two that will survive a freezing if you're not sure you'll get to them.

    • I'm clearly too old for 'fam' to not sound cultish…. maybe that's what they're going for.

Agree these are really good at $7 or less. I'd draw the line at $5 for a frozen meal, but will pay $7-8 for these happily. A little reluctant @ $9.95 TBH, that's not really sustainable long term (maybe for some brief weight loss).

I suppose for work lunches I've paid $8-10 for similar quality fresh food without much thought though, just maybe not for dinner.

  • Thanks, weekly order done.

  • +13

I'm 80 kg male and I think portions are perfect for lunch. Not quite sure why people think they need to eat two or they are too small. Under 10 bucks, many options, and fresh as possible for a preprepped meal. It's a win for me.

  • Bought these twice now. I would not pay more than this price. Quality and taste is pretty good but portions are modest. Ok for lunch but dinner most would find inadequate. If they were 20% bigger would be ideal.

    • If they're 20% bigger they'd probably suck for much of their target market (weight loss). As is some are 2400 KJ which is quite a lot for someone on a diet. Definitely they'd be small for athletes or the average Australian's intake if they're buying the more healthy ones.

  • +1

Ideal for office and rainy day. Great price

  • Anyone know when this ends?

  • These deals make getting a competitor instead to switch it up not happen. I want to get Freshmeals2u for their bigger meals, they are definitely more worth it even at 10% off for Youfoodz.

There are so many competitors for Youfoodz but they really need to make headway… Youfoodz is doing way too well compared to the rest,

Some of their snacks are made in China so avoid some of the snacks. How they think that’s ok is crazy to me.

    • +6

Some of their snacks are made in China so avoid some of the snacks

I am also made in china so I think it is probably pointless for me to avoid them

    • Thanks for the warning about the snacks. Will avoid in future.

  • -6

So it is basically "Meals on Wheels" for people not disabled, just lazy?

  • +1

Love YF however recently I been getting issues where my meals went missing/short… one case I had 3 meals short. Had to refund what was missing..anyone had the same issue?

    • Actually got 2 extra of a snack I ordered this week in one order. Pretty sure this time was accidental on their part. Otherwise like 12-14 orders all ok with the occasional intentional bonus.

Didn't get the free gift in one of the orders this week. Not sure if that was because I ordered before it was advertised or if they missed it. Either way was not disappointed, have everything I want from the stuff they throw in anyway.

  • Thanks, just placed my first order!

  • I'm planning to join and try, do anyone wants to share the referral code? I tried above random referral link, but it is not working.

  • Can you use this code multiple times on the same account/address? Or would I have to create 2 accounts if I wanted to order 14 (weeks worth for myself and partner).

    • Create two accounts, apply promo code in each order

  • $20 delivery. Lol.

    • For WA only.

  • I highly recommend their protein brownie. It doesn't even resemble anything of the typical protein cakes, cookies etc out there. Legit taste like a brownie that you shouldn't be eating!! OMG….. It was 50% before should have purchased 100000000

    • YES. Their protein brownie is incredible!

  • What do you guys like to eat? I love their chicken hot pot

    • +1

I'm a big of their Mac Daddy and Roast Pork & Veg. I always get at least one of each when I place an order.

    • +1

      Too many…
      Flaming Chicken
      Chicken Laksa
      chicken pie
      Quesadilla

      Chargrilled lemon chicken
      Sunday roast chicken
Block curry and spring lasagne surprisingly good although too much damn broccoli in the latter
