  • Can I play Android Game on that?

    • Scroll down to the bottom of this page

    • You can play a lot more android games listed but you will need to sideload them. The ones Jimmy007 has pointed out are designed to work with the Shield

      • Once you sideload them though, do they work with the controller? Like Lego Jurassic World?

  • Current deal in ebay cheaper

Different controller. This one has the original Nvidia controller.

  • So just wondering what the use of this thing is? I mean you could get an XBOX One with 4K support and AAA games

    • True but many of the games are streamed from their servers. No need to download to play.
Plus these machines are awesome for using with Plex and Netflix plus "other" streaming options. Check them out here https://kodiapps.com/apk-chart. I suggest installing apktime first.

      • Hi bigAlOz
Thanks for the Kodiapps link - do I need to use these apps inside Kodi as add-on or there are APK files that I can directly install?

first thing is to "allow installation of apps from sources other than the playstore", install a file explorer from the playstore, download the apps you want from the above link (though I use apktime which allows you to install all apps from within this app) to a usb drive, insert the drive (restart the shield so that it recognises the drive) and, using the file explorer, navigate to the the usb drive and install the apk files that you downloaded.

A lot of these apps won't appear on the shields main screen so I install a file launcher (located within apktime).

Note, most of these apps aren't designed for Google TV. Using a mouse makes things a lot easier.

    • I use mine as a Kodi media player. Good for me because it supports 4k30 (which the Xbox doesn't) so early adopters of 4K TVs with no HDMI 2.0 can still watch 4K content.

In the UI it's pushing online streaming gaming quite hard but latency kills it, hardly ever even connects for me and then 2 minutes into res bouncing all over the place it drops out. Also has a ChromeCast built in (including voice control which I can't seem to find where to disable) and does stream from an Nvidia equipped PC using Geforce Experience (not sure on ATI or Steam) but I've never bothered. I have a MUCH cheaper Steam Link for that (which I also don't use).

  • Stupid question. Can anyone join Uniday ? How do they verify ?

    • they ask for university/colllege/tafe email address so if you have one you should be good to go.

  • I'm wondering if anyone's used one of the 5% off Coles evouchers (like this one: https://www.racq.com.au/membership/what-you-get/discounts/Di…) to buy coles vouchers to buy the catch.com.au vouchers? Had a look and can't see any confirmed cases where it's been tried.

    Cheers
