Sorry! I re-read the title like 3 times and still messed up - fixed now

      • Thanks! No need to sorry.

    • So u just purchased a Samsung EVO 860 500GB for $99 :) is this THAT MUCH faster for the extra $39?

MSY have this for $139 also.. looks to be the normal discounted Samsung RRP before a new product comes out i'm guessing

  • 500GB - OP pls update title

    • Done - sorry!

500GB, that is an awesome deal,

Is the 980 coming out soon?

To be fair, thank au.partpicker.com and their daily price drop emails!

      • couldn't resist anymore…probably will go down again tomorrow but at this price cant complain.

    • Hi Kur,

did you get the code from Umart?

      • No pickup email yet.

  • +1

Yeah I bought this one the other day - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/411762 - figuring BF/CM sales would only be about that good.

I feel like such a fool, but them's the breaks!

  • Will this make us eligible for the free PC game?
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/407744
The promo list 512GB while this is 500GB.

    • The text on the ozbargain deal page is wrong: there is no EVO 512GB

Click through to the actual Samsung page and you’ll see the EVO 500GB is indeed included.

      • +1

What if I pre-order the 970 evo 1tb, am I still eligible for the free pc game?

        • a lot cheaper at MSY for 1tb $289 VS $319

    • It might not come with the free game.

Correct me if I'm wrong but you need to purchase a bundle. Bundles have "-ACOD" suffix on their model #.

Better email them before purchase whether SSD they are selling is bundled with a game or not.

For example, Budget PC has two eBay listings for identical SSD. The one with a game is $10 more expensive.

If you live close to MSY you can save on postage also $139

    • +1

If you choose MSY it's easiest to order online for pickup and pay in store.

    • +2

Got one at MSY for pickup! Thanks Jase2801!

      • Did it come with the game code?

    • +1

ooo cheers, saves me delivery :)

  • Thanks Op great deal got one

  • wow…best price so far

  • Not sure if this is worth it over the evo 860, for daily usage.

    • +2

For large file transferring, the speed different is significant. But for system bootup, not very though.

    • +2

This video shows where NVMe performs better. For me it’s worth it, but it’s totally each person’s value judgement

      https://youtu.be/S4zdft1HDbY

      • Yes, however it should be noted that the crucial mx300 is a lower performing sata drive compared to the 860. This should be more accurate, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6IaV8zS4IrU . The only noticeable improvement here is the file transfer rate.

        • people normally compare mx500 to evo860 as they are normally closer in price …mx300 is one of the cheapest ssd offerings and targeted at entry level by crucial.

        • I’d be keen to see more real world tests than just 2 FPS game load times. Might have to go down a YouTube rabbit hole tonight :)

  • I guess it's good price for NVME?

  • I have a old 1tb hdd could i transfer just my operating system and steam games over with out also all my photos and crap, or should i just wait for a 1tb ssd deal so i can transfer it all over…

    • The OP didn't include the link to the 1TB model because it's currently on backorder, but for $289 it's still the cheapest I've ever seen.

      https://www.umart.com.au/Samsung-970-EVO-Series-1TB-M-2-2280…

      • I'm pretty sure it was over $100 when OP made their post as it was the first thing I checked.

    • go the 1tb ….why waste your afternoon sorting rather than just cloning and enjoy a beer while it happens, then keep old 1 tb for backup drive.

  • i paid $200 for this 1 week ago at msy. how the?

    • could you return

    • Buy another at discounted price & return with old receipt

      • +1

MSY (along with most other computer stores) record the serial numbers on the receipt

        • Smart

  • Oz bargain seems to be flooded with ssd deals. The deals are getting better everyday. Is there like a competition between the retailers or something?

    • still holding off until the black friday/tech monday sales/Christmas sales. I'm sure this will be around $100.

      • +1

you should be able to pick up 2TB SSDs for under AU$ 200 in Black Friday / Christmas sales, of 2019
        :-)

  • Picked this up for $152 just yesterday! Still sitting around the $220 mark with most other online retailers

I literally bought the 250gb for 125 from msy thinking we wouldn't see drops in nvme just yet… FML. It's already installed in my system too. Lame. I really wanted the 500gb but decided against it… That's the way it goes I guess!

    • I did the same… but now have the 250 and 500 plus a pcie to m.2 card.

      • Yeah I would've bought this 500gb straight away if I wasn't about to go on an NZ trip. Hopefully when I save up a bit more and closer to Xmas the 1tb gets closer to 200..

  • +1

Anyone know what hardware is needed to clone a current M.2'(that contains the OS) with this NVMe? I read that NVMe's need a particular piece of hardware to interface with a USB port.

    Brilliant find OP.

    • Acronis

      • Thanks Dienk, but I am looking for the hardware, I have the software.

        • You can clone it to a standard ssd/hd and after do it again from it to the new m.2 or just need a mobo with 2x m.2

        • ebay has pcie cards with nvme slots for m.2 …..from china suppliers , i bought one for about $10 so that if i got an nvme m.2 card i could use as expansion in my pc rather than keep buying 2.5” sata drives as next motherboard would have multiple m.2 slots.

          • @garage sale: Thanks everyone who responded, I should have stated that my query was to clone an M.2 drive that contains the OS, which resides in a notebook that has only one M.2 slot. So any hardware would need to be a cable that plugs into a USB port and then use one of the many software packages found on OZB to clone the drive. Shutdown and swap them over.

    • I am also interested in this as I have an 860 evo nvme and a spare m.2 slot so I would like to clone and use the new drive for the os.

    • You could just create an image onto a seperate hdd then dump the image back to another NVMe drive. On the note of a USB enclosure to support NVMe drive that is quite a conversion chain and probably way too complicated the way i see it. Could even end up costing more than the NVMe drive by the time you're done.

  • FFS wish i waited! Bought the 960 EVO from Shopping Express deal.. sigh

  • FML! just bought it from budget pc for $157 yesterday.

Umart also can redeem the pc game right??

    • its ok, it'll be under $100 by boxing day

      • +1

seems its heading to that way, if 1T below $200, will buy one.

        • that would bring it down to sata prices, 3d nand has high yields so easy to make and an m.2 card is easier to make than a 2.5” drive as doesn’t need enclosure so it might be that due to demand for nvme in m.2 format is becoming more popular and do more stock.

Important - If we preorder will we get Assassins Game since it expires 4th Nov and preorder is 17 Nov?

Will Msy price match Umart on the 1TB? $289 VS $319

  • now Budget PC match the price to $139。500GB。lol
    https://www.budgetpc.com.au/samsung-970-evo-500gb-nvme-1-3-m…

not sure if come with pc game code。

    • I bought one from them a couple of days ago when it was $157 and have already received the code by email.

      • me too, $157!!! so sad..

But now they low price to $139, no sure this price come with code or not.

  • If buying two of these, Budget PC Ebay ($150ea) + PACKAGE15 = $138.75ea (plus $10 shipping). Umart shipping (to VIC) is $11 + $4.34 CC surcharge

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Samsung-970-EVO-500GB-NVMe-1-3-M…

    • Package15 a new code? So lame I was 100% sure $157 shipped would be as low as it would go. FFS.

    • It even works out cheaper if you buy one from Budget PC than UMART when you factor in the shipping costs and Credit card charges.

  • Anyone know if this comes with Assassin's Creed Odyssey?

    • The model matches to the promotion https://www.samsung.com/au/offer/assassinscreed/

      • But does it need to be part of a bundle as mentioned above.

        • +1

Not sure if the retailer gives you the code or samsung for the redeem process.

  • Out of stock but available for pre-order

    • Thank you. I’ve updated the title but don’t know how to do the fancy red version. Maybe cause I’m on mobile

      • Hi OP,

did you get the code from Umart?

        • I didn’t buy one sorry. Check with the other people above who commented they bought maybe?

          • @Occas: yes, wait and see for these lucky guys posts

  • +2

MSY has it for the same price.

    • And that's not even a "special" or "sale". So it should be consistently that price right?

  • 190 with Samsung cashback 2 months ago, and that was a steal. Prices dropping like ram should

    • Oh god I’d love a good price drop on RAM.

A mate of mine bought 32GB a couple of years ago when it was cheap (aka the price it should be), used it for 2 years, then sold it for more than he originally paid for it! Stupid.

  • Ordered! Thanks mate.
