    No deal…

if $499 = iPhone 7, then good deal.

        I… don't get your logic.

      • If you think it's value…. It's old and laggy

Purely out of curiosity (and also to start a flame war) would any android phone from 2015 still sell for $500, let alone be considered a bargain?

    • +3

Considering iPhone 6S didn't come out until September, it is right in the middle of the S6 and S7 range. The S7s are still selling for $460 about 3 months ago whilst the edge would be at least $50+ more.

nope …from 2015 android phones would not be getting latest android updates so probably no oreo, definitely no pie …the apple from 2015 still gets IOS12.

  • +3

Samsung Galaxy S6 would the 2015 android flagship and is $439 on Kogan. $60 more for iPhone 6s may be fair for those attached to iOS, though no one would pay $439 for sgs6

  • 32go in 2018?

this is for people who want iPhone Lul

      🤦

Yeah, there's this thing called the Internet which stores things remotely for you ;)

      • +2

It's stores all your apps on the cloud now???

        • Only the ones you haven't used for a while. It offloads them until you open them again.

It offloads them until you open them again.

and then there's not enough room to put them back…

            Try reloading République

@jv: I'm not sure, my grandpa always said to not accept executables from strangers on the world wide web.

    • Yeah it's bad. But with data as cheap as it is, you probably could get away with using the cloud and streaming everything.

      • you can't cloud your apps, their data and all the photos stored within SMSs

    • If I got rid of my p0rn and podcasts I would only have filled 22gb of my 128gb 6S+.

  • i would just buy from ebay screen cracked for 200$ and replace them for like 20$

    • +8

      I wouldn't

  • Yeah.. nah.

  • $500 for a three year old handset, nonetheless the ugliest handset Apple have ever released? Hmmmmm no thanks!

nonetheless the ugliest handset Apple have ever released

I didn't neg you but I'm genuinely curious how you think this. The iPhone 6S literally looks the same as the 6. And similar to the 7 (and not that different from the 8 even).

So basically you don't like the design Apple has recycled for years?

      • Yep, just the 6/6S. The ugly antenna lines and jarring camera protrusion really stand out and make the 6 series look quite a bit worse than any other (all IMO of course)

    psssst

I got a used (excellent condition) iphone 6s plus off ebay for <$330…

I went to apple to get the battery replaced for $39, and they said it was too dangerous to remove so they gave me a brand new one (yes, brand new). I guess the sticky stuff came off and it was a bit swollen. Score! Not everyone would be as lucky but they are known to commonly do this.

iPhone 6s plus mostly matches the speed of the iphone X in regular apps currently, thanks to ios12 optimisations and developer optimisation. It's a fantastic phone (the plus, smaller might not have enough battery tbh), and no doubt the best you can do for the price right now in any smartphone.

Android is buckling. Remember the Nexus 5? Apple's 'nexus 5' still get's the latest iOS on the same day as every other iPhone.

I agree the price for the XS is shocking, but Apple have done very well with their ecosystem and operating system. If you've never had an iPhone before, consider picking up an 'excellent' condition one off ebay and get the battery replaced before the end of the year.

The other risk here is that the battery has already been replaced with a non genuine battery and apple will promptly show you the exit.

Did they give you a refurbished one or a brand new one? A proper brand new one is sealed and you get to keep the box with the box showing serial number matching the brand new phone. Normally, you get a refurbished one (the staff will take it out of a black cardboard box). Yes, the phone looks new, but it is not brand new.

My mate had his iPhone 5 replaced 2+ years ago by Apple. Within 11 months, the refurbished phone expanded (battery issue) so Apple had to replace it again.

If it was indeed a refurbished one, please indicate it is a refurbished one. For me, I'd rather a proper battery replacement, because a refurbished one surely would have close to latest iOS installed. Despite iOS 12 being a huge improvement over iOS 11, it is still slower than the original iOS iPhone 6S came with.

      • I went through so many 3GS refurbs untilly I finally hit the magic number where they could give me a new replacement. The best part is the 3GS was no longer being produced at that point and got a new iPhone 4 which had just been released. Good times.
