  • rx 580 or the 6gb 1060 from the above deal?

    • I think if you are playing 1080 it won't matter too much. From memory the 580 8gb and 1060 6gb trade blows and they are both pretty awesome for 1080 gaming.

      • To add to this, the 580 supports freesync, the 1060 supoorts the much more expensive gsync.

        Personally, I'd go with the 580. I believe on average it'll come out slightly ahead but that varies between games, so don't worry about it. Freesync on the other hand is an incredibly noticeable benefit.

    • They GPUs themselves are very much similar in performance, the only differences are really:

      1. What games you're going to play as they do trade off better/worse performances in individual game titles;
      2. RX580 lets you use Freesync which is cheaper and generally more widely available than the G-sync you'd need with the GTX1060; and
      3. The RX580 will run a slight bit warmer/draw a slight bit more current, if you're going to be putting the PC somewhere with absolutely abysmal ventilation or high temps (this is a very marginal issue).
    • FreeSync monitors are cheaper and you should get 3 games with the RX580 so it is the better option.

    Nice. beaten by few mins :D

  • The question I wonder is, will the 2600 throttle in a year or 2 when you chuck a 4k Capable GPU in it?

    Prob not actually.

    • You mean bottleneck? No, highly doubtful - 4K (playback or gaming) is still going to be mostly GPU dependent.
