Damn, I remember paying $35 for it before christmas but boy was it worth every cent :)

Some of the most amazing footage, anyone who doesn't have it should buy it.

  • I have already bought it from there, and totally agree with the demo like quality

  • +3

If you own a BD player and don't yet own this, buy it immediately. One of the most extraordinary things I've ever watched.

    • What if we recorded it all off ABC, back when they had a useful HD channel?
One of the eps was broadcast in upscaled SD (at least in Perth), and I think I was one of very few people to notice, sadly.

  • Agree with the comments above. Amazing series.

  • I was planning on getting this and the "Life" set of discs. How different are they? or do they focus on the same things?

  • Human Planet doco is also very good! Still a bit pricey though

  • This release is known to have PROBLEMS with the video/audio in some areas.

The one you want to buy is this:
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Planet-Earth-Special-David-Attenboro…

It's a later release and afaik they've fixed all the issues.

Read the comments on amazon and you'll find out what I mean. That's where I read it.

I wish people would stop posting this darn thing on ozb, I keep having to warn people lol.

I've negged as the product is faulty and I'm trying to warn people. It's not devastatingly faulty, just buyer beware.

EDIT: lol now on amazon theres a comment about the special edition having buggered up contrast in 4 eps. Guess you can't win, can you?

How do I get rid of that neg? People always say how, but Ive never been able to see what they are looking at…

    • lol.
as you mentioned, yes, the special edition is the one with issue.
i think you can revoke the negative sign.

PS: for the others $18 is not delivered. If you buy with something else that exceed 25pound, then yes, it's free.
i tried, to combine, Life 13.33 pound, blue planet 6.24 pound and planet earth 10.83. all up it give me 30.40 pound without any shipping fee. (otherwise for planet earth itself, shipping is about 6.xx pound)
      just heads up.

      • is the blue planet the dvd set?
can't see blu ray, only a us import of an imax movie…

      Step 1:
click on votes near the title of the post (from the options of view and votes, just above the planet earth image)

      Step 2:
      change your vote.

      Step 3:
      ?????

      Step 4:
      Profit$$ !

      • Only just now have I been able to see that darn button! Craftily hidden :p or not lol.

Still, worth reading the comments about both releases of Planet Earth before buying. Make your decision an informed one!

    • To get rid of the neg, just click on the positive sign (basically positive the deal to cancel the negative). Once you done that, you will not be able to vote on this deal anymore.

Just got myself a copy, looks like one of the best documentaries of all time.
Worked out to be AUD $24.43 with std shipping (Aus is not eligable for free shipping)

Had this for a while and paid more . It is a must have at this price . If you have a BR player do youself a favour .

I paid $99 at ABC shop and still it was worth every cent. Best BLURAY disk on the market.

  • Wait, so I'm on the site now, but I can't see if I do get free shipping if the order is over 25 pounds.. can anyone confirm if it becomes free shipping to Aus after the 25 mark?

  • Bought it last time from Amazon.
No problem with them. 10 days to deliver to your door.

  • Mmm Good deal thanks!

  • Similar with Hotcold, i bought Life, blue planet and planet earth, all for AUD $51.18 (free shipping, no VAT, using amazon currency converter) :D great deal, thanks

  • This is one of the nicer DVDs on blueray

    • +3

y u no understand separate acronyms?

      DVD - One thing
      Bluray - Another betterer thing

      Woo!

      • agreed, although I reckon there needs to be a better acronym for bluray

Still too long for my liking =P
Needs to be 3 letters or less lol

  • anyone deal with amazon before?

i placed this along with the 3bucks world record few days ago. all the items in my order are now dispatching soon and i abled to remove this item from the order before as it wasnt dispatching soon and it was a few pounds more expensive.

any idea how can i add this item into my previous order so the shipping is free?

    • I think once it goes 'dispatching soon' you're stuck with the order.

  • is this $18AUS after VAT remove?

    • No it is $24.47, £10.83 (once VAT removed) + £3.68 postage. I think the assumption is that you spend £25 to get that price.

Personally I think these Amazon deals should have the price for the item that is in the bargin and then you can add the price for free shipping.

  • The Kings SPeech for $15 pounds. Is this cheap???

    $86 at JB. Nice deal.

    • +4

Yes, JB HiFi has done it again. Let's look at this again: JB HiFi is asking $86, while Amazon UK is asking the equivalent of $18. The only relevant condition is that you spend 25 pounds on Super Saver Shipping items. Is it any wonder that Gerry Harvey is so against Australians being able to buy on the internet. The deals being offered on the internet, demonstate how Australians are being ripped off by JB HiFi and the Harvey Group. JB HiFi since becoming a public company has become as expensive as the Harvey Norman Group (HN, Domayne, Joyce Mayne and Clive Peeters). They are often located in high rent shopping centres, which results in very expensive prices that Australians are asked to pay. Westfield and Gandel now that is another story. Is it any wonder, that Gerry Harvey is a billionaire? Ripping off Aussie battlers for years. Gerry give away your billions, while you still have them to give away.

  • Did anyone choose the FREE Super Saver Delivery option?

my total was 24.99 pounds (after removing vat) and i could still pick the free super saver delivery option …

    • Not Eligible:Items delivered to addresses outside the UK are not eligible for free Super Saver Delivery.

Although… That was just for when I had Planet Earth selected. I got both that and Life for AU$40.74, as the Super Saver option worked… Less than half the asking price at local stores.

      • +1

from the help section, it says the Free Super Saver Delivery option applies for Australia until May 2011!

My order has 0 pounds for shipping … so im assuming i got through.

        • Ordered Life and Planet Earth for £24.16 with free delivery to Oz.

        • I too get the option for free shopping, but my order come under £25, £19.16 to be exact (Planet Earth and Wonders of the Solar System). Will I get get charged extra for shipping later? Have others got away with under £25 and got free shipping. Dont want to just buy this and then be lumped with £10 shipping, whilst I could have just got another BD to get it over the £25 limit!

  • Hmmm, I just had a look around and found this deal on ebay; http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Planet-Earth-BBC-Series-Blu-Ray-Reg-B…

    Is this the same boxset?

Price seems quite decent with most other Australian retailers selling for between $90.00 to $100.00 plus delivery.

  • why buy there when you can get it for half the price at amazon?
