Camera wise how good or bad is this phone compared to Note 9? Sorry if it sounds a dumb question.
Note 9 has a better camera, noticeable for low light shots or portrait mode.

I think so. X or XR seem within a few hundred of this price.
I'm debating the same at present..I think I'm leaning towards the XR for the benefits of chip (faster,efficient) and more current look (present for my wife).
I would (albeit I upgraded from 6 Plus) - XR in a damn good looking phone.
performance wise i think theyre the same. its just the world is shifting toward the gesture based navigation and the notch so i guess $150 is worth it to be Trendy Dendi

Yes, the 8 Plus has a second telephone lens. But, the primary camera on the XR is a fairly significant upgrade on the 8 Plus. The sensor is 30% larger and post processing, particularly Smart HDR, is a lot better on the XR. Software seems to handle portrait mode very well on the XR, so really the only advantage the 8 Plus camera has over the XR is 2x optical zoom. That’s not worth the trade off of the XR’s advantages in my opinion.

S8 has only 1 year is update and 2 year security, iPhone 8 has 34 years of is and security updates. It's faster, battery is better, os is subjective.

iPhone xr has no hd screen so this over a xr any day. No idea why the comments above would prefer a xr over this. Again a x is better than xr and close in price.

Use it before you judge. I had the XS Max.. sure the screen is a little better but you really can’t tell the difference. I also had the note 9, and Mate 20pro.. ended up with the XR due to the perfect size! XR with HD screen will be so good!
