Is it targeted? I have both on my primary cards but not on secondary..

    • I got Qantas on my primary and supp Explorers, might be targeted

    • Got both of them on my essential cards.

  • +1

got both on primary card, only Quantas on secondary.

  • +1

Got Qantas on all of my cards including supplementary cards. Got eWay only on primary card holders. Weird!

  • Anyone know if the Qantas offer can be used to purchase Qantas Gift Vouchers (if there is such a thing)?

    • From a previous AMEX deal, I could buy a voucher and I think it was a way to bypass the credit card surcharge too. HOWEVER there was a limit of one voucher per ticket order which made it very difficult to use it up. YMMV

      • Oh really? Thats good to know, so basically can't get more than $100 of a single ticket ($350 gift voucher, and rest $350+ using another card with this offer saved)?

        • Buy a $350 voucher for now which should be valid for 3 years, then wait for next round of similar Amex Qantas offer. For airfare $700 or more, redeem this voucher and pay remainder with Amex card. That's $100 off.

      • Could you possibly buy a single massive Qantas voucher across multiple Amex cards to be able to bypass the single voucher limitation?

        • probably wont let you do that

    • +1

I remember reading an article on Australian Frequent Flyer forum that Qantas charges more if you're paying with voucher. Your $50 saving from this deal may be negated by a higher ticket price.

    • Would love to get a definitive answer on this. Gets asked every time and I’ve never seen someone post about whether it worked or not.

  • Got both on my primary card (Explorer) but I'm not getting any offer on my secondary (Westpac) any idea of why?

  • Eway Toll only on my primary Qantas AmEx Discovery. Didn't get the Qantas deal on either my primary or secondary.

    • I got the Qantas offer on my Qantas Business Rewards. Theoretically I can get up to 3xQBR points, QF points, lounge invites, and cash back. Nice.

  • Got both offers on my DJs Amex and (surprisingly in the case of Qantas) my Velocity Escape Amex (both primary cards)

    • Yeah I got it on my Velocity Escape too, surprised me lol, but won't complain.

  • did not use Eway Toll before, is it good for traveling on Citylink and M3 in Melbourne?

    • Define 'good' ?
You should be charged the same amount to use a toll road, regardless of which tag you use.

Their account keeping fee may differ though, depending on which tag you use ?

      • You're talking as though toll roads are something we should have in the first place. The only people that want these things are the private corporations removing your money and the government they paid off in order to create the arrangement.

    • +1

AFAIK all Australian toll tag providers provide the same service and pretty much the same cost, and you can use them anywhere in Australia. There may be small differences in the deposit you pay for the tags, how you recharge, how you are billed etc. I went with Linkt because they don't take a deposit for the tags.

The Qantas offer is available through Amex Connect .

    • Thanks, worked for me

    • “WE'RE SORRY

The Card number you have entered is not eligible for this offer.”

    • Thanks. Worked for adding to my Explorer

What is Eway toll? Is it for Melbourne’s CityLink or is is Sydney’s one or is it Brisbane’s one? Or even all of them?

I don’t want to register for something that I cannot use and waste a spot for another person.

    • Seems to work on all toll roads in Aus.

      https://www.tollpay.com.au/personal-tag

    • All tags are compatible with all toll roads in Australia.

      • +1

So if I have an existing citlink account (Melbourne thing) then I can use the eway toll to add an extra $40 to that account or do I need to have a separate tag?

  • Is it possible to use the cashback for hotel booking?

    • +2

doubt it as qantas hotels comes up as different merchant from my experience

  • Is the Eway toll pay the same as MyEtoll (https://myrta.com/etoll/index.html#!/login) as they are different websites but both have M5 listed which is the only toll road I take.

    • +1

No. Eway tags are issued by Interlink Roads but work on all toll roads in Australia. MyEtoll tags are issued by NSW Roads and Maritime Services

  • Is it possible to split payment on www.qantas.com.au ?

    • +1

You could try buying a gift voucher first and then paying the remainder of the price with another card.

      • Thanks mate, will take a look.

      • The gift voucher still shows no different as the merchant, right? I did it years back, but haven't tried recently

    • +2

If it helps, you are able to split by people (if you are booking more than 1 person) which is helpful as you can put different people on different cards (but under the same booking).

      • Thanks. We have 2 young children, thus we can only book for 1 adult and 1 child. Still need to split the payment.

        • +2

I actually meant u can book atogether, but pay using different cards for different people, children included! So for example 2 adults and one child (over 2), we can actually pay with 3 cards.

          • @joeiwu: All sorted out, you are awesome, thanks mate!!

  • +2

I have an e-Way account that I haven't been using and I still haven gotten around to closing it and getting my balance and tag deposits back yet - so I just added another $40 to it! Now to see if I can get it back…

  • Does this work if I spend over $350 in taxes when making a Frequent Flyer booking?

    • +1

I haven't tried this but I can't see any reason why it wouldn't work.

  • Has anyone used the Qantas offer for Qantas club membership before?

  • Does anyone know if the Qantas offer will work for the Qantas store? Thinking of this: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/413094

Or can you pay on Qantas store using Qantas gift vouchers?

  • anyone know if you can pre-pay e-way account? I can't find the "top-up" option.

  • Anyone know what would happen if I booked a fully refundable ticket and ended up needing to cancel the flight closer to the time, would the $50 be debited back off my card?

    • I think the only fully refundable fares are business class. Generally all economy fares have at least $99 cancellation fee.

      • I know, but could I book and cancel and still keep the $50 credit?

        • Most likely the $50 credit will be reversed. Happened for my Clinique order of $125; the $20 credit was taken back
