  • Hmmm just found starts 2018-11-08 20:00:00 UTC to 2018-11-10 19:00:00 UTC

  • Wht is the major difference between new and old model, All I can notice is the remote

    • think the wifi is 5ghz now to.

      • just the remote?

      • +3

It already had to 5 GHz. It has just changed the design and remote with dedicated buttons for YouTube. From what I understand, internally it is exactly same as previous Mi Box

    • I believe there is also an extra 1gb ram

      • +1

        Not sure it does

        • Oh my bad, I always assumed my mi box had 1gb ram. Looks like its 2!

    • I looked this up this morning. I think what it comes down to is the remote and the chipset has updated Bluetooth 4.2. I think everything else is the same which is a real let down to be honest.

  • +2

This same code 'GBMIBOXS' bought it for $55.99 24 hours ago, i'd be holding out for another price like that…

  • +4

Until they fix the botched firmware on the old mibox 3…. Never buying these.

    • +3

      Since updating to 8.0.
Mine is extremely sluggish whenever I wake it from sleep.
Have to unplug and replug the power.

      • +2

Mine constantly drops the wifi connection… Unless I use my phone as a hotspot, then it's fine.
        Annoying af

    • Yep, I wish I never updated. I guess there is no way revert back unless I risk turning the box into a paperweight?

    • New update started rolling out today to fix wifi and other things

      • Hmm just checked and it is there! Wonder what the improved HDMI compatibility does?

I haven't had wifi drop on mine at all. The sluggish performance from sleep, yes.

  • +1

And still no damn ethernet port.

    • I use an usb to ethernet adapter which has 3 usb ports. I have the Mi Box 3.

      • dongles sometimes have wake from sleep issues which can be frustrating too.

    • most Ethernet for these type boxes are only 100mb so just as good as the usb2 ethernet dongles

    • Yep would have bought one ages ago if it had AT LEAST 100Mb Ethernet port. Serious omission in my house.

But the Shield's is so damn expensive. I'm sure the Mi Box S could add a port for like $20 or much less.

  • +1

My mibox 3 is not responsive at all and keep buffering after the 8.0 update.

I am seriously thinking of getting Nvidia Shield.

    • I'm getting one in the next few months. But really I want it for the chops to run all the android games/emulators I use.

  • Sale starts at 20:00 local Couple Minutes I am advised again:

  • It's Alive

  • What does this do exactly?
    Is it similar to Chromecast?
    (Not trolling)

    • No it's Android TV

Not an Android Box, Not Chromecast.

      https://www.android.com/intl/en_uk/tv/

      • Android TV has Chromecast functionally built in.

        • That is true - was just pointing out it's so much more than an actual Google Chromecast device, but yes it can be used like a Chromecast.

    • In the past, I've explain it as an Android phone on your TV with less apps. And it has a Chromecast built into it!

    • You can install Android apps on it. I play some games on my Android TV.

  • BUY THE VODAFONE TV INSTEAD… CHEAPER and BETTER
