This is not going to end well…

Appears genuine considering from a reputable shop - OZGameShop.
Just ordered a key myself 10 minutes ago, received confirmation email; now waiting for the CD key to be delivered.

      • More information regarding the legitimacy can be found in the previous deal

        • Thanks for that RichardL; I wasn’t aware of the history with OEM keys from OZGameShop.
Might be better to stay away from this deal

Selling an oem version without hardware is illegal.

        • But on the illegality scale for Windows keys it is a one out of ten.

It will always be a legal license

        • Wrong

  • I keep buying them for $17.00 from CJ keys

bought 3 so far - the first was 14 months ago still going strong

A windows 8.1 Pro key will activate windows 10 Pro.
      Save some money. ;)

      • Win7 no problem too.

Just cooking up some popcorn now…

    • I'm confused what's happening lol?

      • +3

Also confused. Is the popcorn microwaved or in a pot?

      • Usually massive arguments over buying legitimate keys vs fishy/unknown keys. Some prefer $10 dodgy keys which work, others prefer legitimate keys.

There's also the debate to be had over if these are legitimate or not.

        • Clearly you have decided they are illegitimate by calling them dodgy.

          • +1

@Maverick-au: The fishy/unknown keys probably are illegitimate… Hence why I did call them dodgy…

These keys here costing more doesn't automatically mean they're legitimate though, I simply assumed they are for the sake of the comment.

If you are going to come here and tell other people what to do, then simply do us a favour and (profanity) off :)

          Ok

  • Bought one from ebay a few months ago for $14. Only ran into one issue recently where Microsoft said that my version of windows wasn't activated but found out later that Microsoft's activation servers had a problem and a lot of people experienced the same issue. Still going strong now.

  • there is nothing wrong with oem keys which have unique serial numbers and most people that have built or upgraded a pc have probabaly used, difference between retail an oem being no phone support for oem ( talk to who sold you the machine / hardware / upgrade) with retail you get phone support.

the issue. might be MSDN keys which are issued for development use and use the same key per kit ….there is a limit on how many times / machines an MSDN key can be used.

there used by arguments about being able to move oem to new machines , etc ….the EU passed rulings that over wrote those and many other things with microsoft licensing …as always the EU picks up the slack the US creates.

    • Just a slight correction on OEM - it's not JUST support.

OEM keys tie themselves to the hardware and cannot be moved between devices.
Retail keys tie themselves to your Microsoft account and can be moved around.

  • If your going to buy dodgy ones get the win 10 pro off ebay for $10 never ever had any problems even reused the key a couple times too

    • Yeh exactly. No harm buying the dodgy then buying a non-dodgy if it expires (which it wont).

/+ It's important to not give Microsoft any more money, Windows 10 is a trainwreck.

      • windows 10 is god compared to windows ME. shudders

      • Windows 10 is a trainwreck

Bit of an exaggeration, it's been excellent for a while now.

I find it strange that this community has such a strict view on how to “properly” buy Microsoft Windows OS; and yet has no issue using VPN’s to pay substantially less for services such as Microsoft Xbox Gold…

    • +1

Is it because when buying XBox live gold, even if it's from another region, it's still purchased on paid for correctly whereas MSDN keys are in fact not really correctly licensed?

      Genuine question.

    • Too many Bill Gates lovers on here.

      Just a bunch of hypocrites.

  • I've moved OEM licences before. You just call MS when you need to activate on the new device and they'll still do it.

    • So have I. I've also been asked to send through invoices for purchased hardware before too, which in both cases I actually did have, so they could check it was only an upgraded MB/HDD etc.

So YMMV. Retail is easy to move simply through your Microsoft portal, OEM wasn't designed to, but yes Microsoft may still do it over the phone.
