Anybody know if these fall into the stability (plenty of arch support) or neutral (minimal arch support) category?

I can't tell from the descriptions on the Nike website.

    • +2

Both are neutral shoes. Edit: Unfortunately Pegasus' support-equivalent, Structure 22, is not on sale.

      • Thanks mate. Neutral is what I'm looking for :)

  • Awesome, thanks OP!
Found the women's ones at $125.99 yesterday, hoping the men's ones will be too soon, and they really did! Almost pulled the trigger with one at The Iconic.
Edit: didn't notice not all the colours were on sale. Wanted to get the black one

    I prefer boost :)

    • I prefer react :)

  • I bought the React 4 weeks ago to try out as they claim it is as good as Boost. I used it for two runs then put it away and went back to Boost. It was way toooooo soft almost to the point of being dangerous. I'm only lightweight too. Boost is still the best foam for running IMO.

    • +3

      Try to run faster

    • Boost is just too soft and has very little lockdown for actual runners

    • I think the single piece foam soles are a fad. I think the asics layered foams of different densities mixed with gel is going to be the make of sole that wins out long term. That said, for sporadic runs <5km, I don't think it really matters.

Not an expert on the topic.

One thing I do know, I haaaate having to find new shoes (running or otherwise).

  • Thanks OP, picked up a pair of Pegasai

    • Oh god it laid eggs!

  • Scotty are you a runner too?

    • +6

Currently 270km away from my goal for this year (3,000km). Hopefully I'll get that over and done with by mid-December.

      • +1

Holy cow, that is a massive effort. Well done!

      • +1

My goal is 3000m. Almost there too!

  • Dumb question, what’s the difference between this and nike run or any other nike runner shoes?

    • React is a very soft foam, and like the comment above some will find it too soft and not firm enough. I use these to run in after running in Boost for a few years and prefer the React slightly now. Will really come down to personal preference. I paid $180 for my Reacts though, it's a steal for $100 even with the limited colourways.

  • Hi all, who can recommend these for running? I've always run with either Kayanos or NB 1260s. I'm not familiar with Nikes range but happy to give them a try!
    I usually do 2x 10km road running a week

    • +2

These are not support shoes like Kayano or 1260 — both Odyssey React and Pegasus are neutral shoes with no special medial post functionality. Nike's Pegasus' support-shoes-equivalent would be Structure, but not one sale at the moment.

On the other hand you might want to check whether you really need support shoes, or can just train your achilles, making them stronger, so you don't overpronate.

      • Cheers for the response Scotty. These could be an option to try then (plus I like the colourwave a lot!). How do you think they go with ware on the sole with road running? I always find that the sole on outside heel of all my shoes are the first to go

        • +1

If the lateral side of your running shoes outsole wears out first, you might not even overpronate and don't need support shoes. If you want durability, then Pegasus is probably one of the most durable running shoes out there. I've seen reports of 1000 miles (1600+km). On the other hand React is lighter and has exposed midsole, which won't be as durable.

  • I have mainly used NB before and my last shoe was Vazee Rush which I am really happy with. Does anyone know this is better or at least equally good to NB VR? Thanks for your help in advance :)

    • +1

I think the Nike's here are better in almost every way (except if you can't stand 10mm drop). Pegasus and Odyssey React are usually much more expensive as well. Vazee Rush on the other hand is a bit lighter, but I found NB's RevLite midsole is a bit too harsh on my old knees if I run more than 10km.

      • Thanks Scotty, will pull the trigger on Nike this time….excited already :)

  • Yup I've went from pegasus 33 to odyssey react and as a bi weekly 3 mile (4.8kms) runner, I'd pick the pegasus anyday. I recall trying the epic reacts and find that somehow the sole on that felt more superior than the cheaper odyssey. Depending on how you pronate and the distance you intend to cover on them, I'd choose the pegasus for better support all around. I ran a half Mara in the grey odyssey reacts and had pins and needles after 7-8kms but it eventually went away, whereas the onset came at around 14-17kms with my older pegasus. Again ymmv especially with shoes, just sharing my experience with both.

    • Agree that Odyssey React is no Epic React, but I can't seem to be able to find the original Epic React on Nike's site, and I doubt it would be discounted. At least with Odyssey React you get more rubber outsole so hopefully last longer. Disclaimer: Never ran in React foam before.

      • This is the cheapest I’ve seen the odyssey react anyway. I got mine for $120 from the iconic with voucher and amex cashback, so $100 is pretty good without discount stacking. That said, the odyssey makes for a better ‘lifestyle’ shoe if you’re not all about running, it’s a nicer silhouette than a dedicated running shoe of course. The new Pegasus actually looks less supportive now ☹. There’s little delineation between sport shoe purposes these days especially with the sneakerhead culture being so big these days.

        • Well. Sneaker companies sell more shoes to hypebeasts who buy them to wear with chinos but never put a running mile on them, which affect how they design the shoes. For example many latest Nike running shoes have narrow slick-looking toebox which is completely different how our foot looks like.

      • Scotty, Epic React fly knits are now on the sale site, waiting for tomorrow's black friday to kick in to get a pair. Better than the Odyssey react?

        • Yes better, but likely less durable with less outsole / more exposed midsole.

  • If you are a serious runner, go for Pegasus. Super comfy when running/walking or standing for long period of time. Stability is on point and does not hurt your feet. React is more of a casual runner shoes and it hurts if you wear for long period of time. Its not very stable and very slipery on wet surface. On top of that, durability on React is way behind Pegasus. This is coming from a guy who owns both and prefer Pegasus over React any day.

  • Picked up the Pegasus last night, absolutely poor colour choices available..
the best of the bad bunch was the only one with out my size, so I picked up a blue pair.

what do you think my chances are of returning them for another colour ?

    • I also picked up a pair of blue Pegasus last night! Also wondering about my chances of returning them for another colour or size depending on how they fit. Their 30 day return policy looked good.
      https://www.nike.com/au/help/a/returns-policy-gs
But whether I can exchange for another colour/size… because if I change size, it may not be available in that colour

How did you go about selecting your size? I measured my foot according to their size chart , but I’ve read recommendations about getting half a size bigger.

      • I guessed my size, Checked it at the shoe shop today and my bigger foot is possibly half a thumb under a 9.5 so I think I chose the correct size

Does anyone know if the Pregasus stretch out a little, I assume they do

        • Half a thumb length or width?

  • Does Nike ship to parcel lockers - anyone try this previously? Doesn't say anywhere on their website who they use for shipping!

    • No.

    • Their checkout says they don’t deliver to PO Boxes so I didn’t try delivering to the parcel locker

      • Yeah - noted that also but sometimes that doesn't preclude parcel lockers depending on the shipping provider. I'll play it safe and ship to a street addy. Thanks all.

  • Fixed thanks

  • 8% cash rewards too!?

    • +1

Indeed. I was about to post that also. The coupon is on CASHREWARDS so cashback should still apply.

    • or 6% with Shopback

  • Does anyone know how sizing works for the odessy reacts?
I am a US 10.5 in Ultraboost 3.0 for reference.

    • for me
      adidas runs big/tts
      (tts or .5 down)
reacts are tts or half size up (Odessey more towards half size up due to the material not as stretchy as flyknit in the epic reacts)

both depending on if u want a snug fit/thickness of socks/if you want to wear with socks?

  • What are you running from, scotty?

    • +4

From body deteriorating associated with aging & desk-bound job. I don't think anyone can run away from it, but I just don't want to get caught that soon.

  • Correct me if I’m wrong, payment is charged in USD even id prices were shown in aud? As I was charged $103+?

    • paypal would show usd but sure the amount converted to aud would match up??

      (from past nike purchase experience)

    • My PayPal showed AUD $100.XX - shouldn't have been USD if you were buying on the Aussie site. Wouldn't be fair to charge you behind-the-scenes in USD - particularly if your card charges you 3 per cent interest for currency conversion.

That all said, tracking does seem to show the product coming from overseas. It's already in Australia now, though - moving quickly.

  • My shoes didn't arrive in the arrival window, Had to call nike and they gave me the run around
Ended up going from Adelaide to Brisbane to Sydney to Brisbane.. sat in limbo land for a few days.. and now who knows then they will turn up…

to make things worse, I don't even want the colour I order now that they have new colours in stock.. wonder if they will swap them? (but there seems to be a price difference now)

    • There's a better deal now, so return it once it arrives.

  • Mine arrived yesterday hee hee. Looking forward to the run

  • Mine arrived this week - only had a brief window to try them on inside and feel they might be a tad tight - was at the end of the day and my feet were probably fairly expanded as they would be after a run but a half size up might have been better. Do these run tighter than other Nike - usually their sizing has been fairly predicable between styles…

    • I had same issue too, might end up returning as it is too tight for me…

  • Was anyone able to create a return label successfully?

I'm getting an error that my order number isn't valid!

    • I'll let you know when I try. My half size up arrived today. They seem to be a pretty good fit so the smaller pair will need to go back.
