Aiwa Large Party Speaker APS-686 $129 @ Target

40

Came across this speaker at Target in Epping VIC. I reckon this should be available in all Target stores.

At $129 for an Aiwa speaker I thought it’s pretty good price, similar in size to the Sony’s. Can’t find any online reviews so may be a very new model. Good for the festive season home party.

  • What is the normal or RRP?

    • Not sure what is the usual price as I thought for $129 with all the same features of the Sony’s and from Aiwa it’s a good buy.

      • Aiwa ain't what it used to be.

It used to be an open secret twenty-odd years ago that Aiwa was the budget brand made by Sony, but is that still the case? Lot of brand names have been sold to junk manufacturers - Kodak, Retrovision, Atari, Toshiba (yep - look at their TVs).

      • From Wikipedia;

On April 11, 2017, Japanese audio equipment manufactuer Towada Audio announced that Towada acquired Aiwa brand rights from Sony and would produce Aiwa-branded audio and record player products.

      • Add Akai to this list. The current Akai just licenses its brand to whichever no name manufacturer wants a brand. Same as Polaroid, and other previously mentioned companies.

    • Never had any good experience with anything Laser branded. Used to love Aiwa stuff but that was 30 years ago

I used to own Aiwa portable cassette tape player 20 years ago, I chose Aiwa over Sony back then and it was amazing.

Buy an adapter that has this for about $20 with aux out and bob's your uncle (or auntie as the political climate dictates)

The Z623 has pretty awesome sound and punch

        • Google and find out

    • I would recommend the Laser speaker. I bought it on Ebay for $215. I could have bought it from Big W for $200 at the time but because stupid website https://www.laserco.com.au/party-speakers displayed the photos wrong so Big W email me that the speaker they were selling is the model SPK-F300. I wanted the model SPK-F340. On this website https://www.laserco.com.au/party-speakers the name of the 2 speakers SPK-F300 and SPK-F340 have been swapped around. As the result of that I bought my SPK-F340 on Ebay for $215.. I do like the speaker, but not happy because I could have purchased for $15 cheaper.. No Big W sells it for $189… damn… lol

  • I think I'd use this twice… rather just keep the money for something else

Sony killed Aiwa for a good reason, looks like they waited 20 years to bury the brand….

Ha i didnt think Aiwa was still going?

    • Judging by the sound of it this product after a few weeks won't be still going either
