  • Sorry op, link doesn't work

      sorry fixed

  • holy crap that's expensive but I guess if you want 4K G-Sync?

    • Quantum-Dot 144Hz 4K G-Sync

  • Sweet, now i just need 2 rtx2080ti's to get 144fps at 4k.

    • Lol my first thought as well. Are there any details around what gfx card power is needed to run AAA titles?

    • +5

I doubt even dual 2080TIs could do that at this point. These monitors are a bit pointless right now. It's like buying a ferrari for your 2km commute.

      • +2

It'd be the best 2k commute depending on traffic. Way more useful thank this monitor at this point in time gpu wise.

      • +3

Linus Techtips basically has a quad NV-linked RTX2080s rig driving this display. I think they still only get decent (not amazing) framerates haha.

    • with RTX turned off

  • +12

Thanks bought one as a spare back up.

    • +2

Buy one more for triple monitor setup.

      1 Monitor = $250 savings
      2 Monitors = $500 and 3 = $750 savings.

Nah on second thoughts, its gona be mounted to the headrest behind my driver seat of my bentley so my kid can watch stuff when we go on long trips

        • the 1000nits might be a hazard..

        • +1

Get one for yourself too! Surely you're not going to be as crass as to operate your automobile yourself?

          • +2

@HighAndDry: Unfortunaley my chopper is currently in maintenance so i have to drive my own automobile like the rest of you mortals.

  • +1

anyone know how crysis looks on this?

    • Ok.

  • Price is wrong, as I found out from an order before (and was pointed out to me) they seem to add GST onto the GST for whatever reason once you go to checkout.

    1 Item(s) AUD$2,500.00

    Est. Duty & GST AUD$344.41

    Shipping AUD$0.00

    Grand Total
    AUD$2,844.41

    • Its not for me,
      Subtotal: AUD$2,500.00
      Est. GST: AUD$250.00
      Shipping: AUD$0.00
      Grand Total: AUD$2,750.00

      • Have you actually gone to checkout and logged in? It shows the price you say until you log in and have the screen for address and payment options then it raises it.

Has done it for every Newegg deal I've seen, which is why all the RAM deals from them end in funny numbers rather than a simple whole number.

        • Wow, that's illegal. GST must be included in the list price according to the ACCC.

          • @Tacooo: Newegg is in the US, don't thick they give a $hit about the ACCC

          • @Tacooo: It is, if you shop on the Australian Newegg, all products have GST-inclusive pricing.

          • @Tacooo: Well it is, they don’t hide the GST inclusive price (although when you search for it they show the non-GST price, then when you click on the listing they show the GST inclusive price.

Which then changes to seeming to be GST on top of the GST (it seems, can’t be bothered doing the maths haha). Plus all the Chinese stores just whack it on right at the end as well.

No clue how Ryxxi is getting the price they claim.

    • This is incorrect, the GST price on the actual product listing page is only an estimate, whereas the actual GST is calculated at checkout.

I was waiting for one of these but got impatient and got the crappy old 1440p 165hz version. Probably for the best at this price!

    • Ha! I was waiting for a 1440p 144hz g-sync HDR IPS… got a PG279Q, glad I did.
A HDR version with backlighting would of been couple grand no doubt.

      • I just can't spend $950 on a monitor knowing I won't have the latest tech.

I'm going to wait for that 1440p 144hz g-sync HDR IPS

        • Hehe I ran out of patience.
Grabbed mine for $820 from CA during ebay deal, not a bad price.

  • -4

    Poorly thought out by ACER.

People who can afford this monitor do not need GSYNC as they will already have quad SLI 2080Tis so it will be capped at 144hz all times.

    What a waste.

    • Do you like tearing?

G-Sync is NOT what makes this monitor expensive.

      • -1

tearing only comes into effect if your FPS do not match the refresh rate.

quad sli 2080tis can maintain 144fps, hence the 144hz monitor will not tear.

but that's besides the point, someone didnt get the joke.

        • Your quad-sli joke doesn't matter… just saying.

You still don't understand what makes this monitor expensive, its all about the backlighting at that refresh rate with that res etc.
Forget for a moment where GPU tech is at, it's "a first" product… along with ASUS's version.

OLED might one day be maintstream in gaming monitors but for now LED backlight array with 4K, 144hz, IPS, G-Sync is as good as it gets.

    • +1

SLI and Crossfire doesn't even work and is barely supported.

Even if it did work, you won't get 144fps, you would struggle to get 120fps minimum.

  • +2

Wow, looking at the price i am confused it's not Apple

  • +1

Only does 98hz with full colour gamut due to displayport bandwidth limitations. Most I would pay for this is about $1500 IMO.

  • The best monitor you can get

That's subjective, it's not the best for everyone.

  • Not exactly the “best monitor” for gaming that OP states. 240hz BenQ Zowie is actually the best for FPS games—you don’t need 4K res for gaming; max hz is arguably “better”. But for aesthetics then 4K would be “better.” Depends on how one defines “better”

    • +4

      Thats a terrible monitor

      No HDR
Low resolution (1080p) 1440p is minimum these days
      No Gsync
Crappy TN panel, IPS is way better
      Small size
      No Quantum Dot

240hz is a waste of time unless you want to play counter-strike in a professional competition with a 2080ti to get 240fps.

You can get the same monitor without the useless features for a lot less, or spend your money on a screen that actually produces a nice picture.

  • -4

    A 1080, 1080ti, 2070, 2080, 2080ti will almost all hit 240fps at 1080p (1920x1080).

  • Can it play minecraft tho?

  • In 12 months this will be half that price.

  • +2

Local price has actually dropped to $2799:
