  • 25c is double the price of the 23c. I guess this size is less popular than the other.

    • it is less popular but most won't even notice the difference (and there are other factors such as rim width, inflated pressure that contribute to comfort and safety on the road as well) but for the price this is a good deal.

      • Let's choose the faster one: aero + weight = 23c.

        Very good deal, indeed!

        • I thought that way too…

          https://www.competitivecyclist.com/learn/25-vs-23
          says
          """
“That’s part of the beauty of the wider tire. You can run it at lower air pressure, and it feels softer and gives you more comfort. When you race, you just pump it up a little more. If you go by the numbers in the lab, if you have a 19mm tubular tire and a 25mm tubular both ridden at 9 bars in a 40km time trial, you would win with the 25mm tires by 50 seconds. That’s all just from the reduction in rolling resistance. “
          """

More than one source confirms this, if you google.

          • @calcium: There are only perceptions not concrete facts on the matter.

To me the most advantageous feature is the weight, then aerodynamic. Rolling resistance is ignoreable.

My perception is this is a marketing hype to sell new bikes (because you need wider design to accommodate wider tyres = new sales).

And I confirmed my theory by beating all riders with wider tyres in my bunch! :)

  • +2

For me, as a casual, I've gone the 28c kevlar tyre route (gatorskin , refuse, etc) for convenience and comfort. Haven't noticed any performance differences (again, just a casual!)

    • …yeh running maxxis re-fuse 28s on both my 700c rides too. not bad tyres so far (1.5K km)

  • One thing I noticed is that it does not say its bead type - folding or not. If it is folding, extremely good deal.

  • Thanks OP, grabbed the black ones for a dollar extra.

Had been keeping an eye out for a cheap pair for my budget single speed runaround.

  • Red sold out. Black and white versions still available for $22.99.

  • Good deal, got the black + 20% cash back via ShopBack
