    Worth it or hold out?

    • Would like to know as well. Mario kart is a game i would definitely play though.

      • +2

It's a very popular game; up there with Super Smash Brothers.

        • +3

Mario Kart has much larger appeal than Smash Brothers …

    • +1

Just get the 340$ and then buy the game you actually want to play

    • -1

      HODL!

  • +2

    Great price….

Considering the game is ~$69, meaning the console itself is ~$320….

Use jb giftcard to save another $15-20 off.

    • are there codes for these gift cards or do you mean if you've already got a gift card you could save that much?

      • +3

Some membership clubs sell JB gift cards for 5% off (Suncorp, RACQ, Entertainment Book maybe?)

        • +1

Just to add to the list, YouI Rewards does 6.5% off JB vouchers.

        • Does anywhere do more than 5% discount for jb hifi egift cards?

        • Does anyone know how long JB gift cards usually take to be sent to your email?

      • +2

You can buy jb giftcards of $10 more value at prezzee.com.au

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/416021

  • +3

Definitely worth. I bought the $340 through eBay. This deal includes the game and Mario Kart on normal retail is $69

  • +2

Good deal, pity about the download code though

    • Could sell the code if that is the problem?

      • +2

Selling digital games is extremely risky

    • Why pity?

      • +6

Physical games mean you can resell them later on - digital games you can't.

I personally prefer digital, it means you don't need to find the disc/card when you want to play a different game, but I understand why people prefer physical.

  • +1

Dam good deal, even better than the ebay one because of the good game. I'll hold off a few more days and pull the trigger but this would be the one I'm eyeing.

    • Ignoring the gift card discounts on both deals this is 390 and the other was 340

So its around a $15 saving on a digital version of mario kart vs physical going for around 65 with the ebay deal on now

      • So it's essentially cheaper than buying the console by itself and the physical game?!?!

        • +1

After discounts it would be $15 more expensive but physical you have trade in / resale value

          • @qwerty: Assuming I wait till tomorrow to see what Amazon pulls is there any chance it'll be sub 320?

  • +1

Does mario kart use one or two controllers?

    • +2

can play up to four players. For each player, can use either one or two.

    • Can use one or both together

  • +1

definitely a good deal IMO, but not sure how big the game is, might be a good idea to pick up a microSD while they are on special now too.

I mean even if the game does fit on the switch I think you would want to buy a microSD anyway

    • It's only like 4gb. Switch games can be very compact.

      • +1

oh true hahahaha..my bad…but nevertheless its probably a good time to pick a sd now while it's cheap :)

        • True, especially considering that Switch is a home / portable console. I got a 128GB in it and might go for 256GB later.

  • +1

Nice one, I will wait a few hours to see what is Amazon planning to offer, hope don't run out of stock so quickly

    • The amazon deal goes live at 8AM AEDT tomorrow it seems as per here

      • Thanks mate, I will just grab this JB deal then.

      • +1

What is the Amazon offer? It doesn't seem to be working on my phone…Or I could just be dumb.

        • Not showing on my mobile either.

        • Wont know until the deal goes live

        • Just says that there will be a lightning deal going live at 8AM AEDT for the neon switch, no price or anything just yet but I'd imagine it'd be sub $330

        • It starts at 9:30am for non prime members!!!! 9am for prime members (for the switch)

        • Now it says 7:30am with prime members at 7am

      • Amex has spend $100 get $15 back (via Amazon.com.au)

    • +1

is Amazon going to advertise the sale before it is released?

    • I haven't bought from Amazon before, do I need their Amazon prime to get the deals?

  • Hoping for a deal on joycon sets as well - since my original launch-day neon pair are basically unusable at this point (analogue stick drift, constantly losing connection entirely, etc.) Makes playing Mario Party a bit of a chore (though usually I just give those two controllers to my friends I like the least…)

    • +1

      How rough are you?

      • maybe it's those friend…….that are liked the least…..for a reason…

        • +2

More or less this. My Switch has gotten a lot of mileage out of people asking me to drag it over to various parties for drunk Mario Kart and the like. I'm happy to do that but alcohol and expensive electronics rarely mix well, and a lot of people don't take care of stuff that isn't their own!

          • +1

            @theQuinn: ^this

“a lot of people don't take care of stuff that isn't their own!” 👏

  • Nice price.. last July when I bought it was $389 as well but with no game..

  • Don’t forget to stack the $10 code

  • Amazons deal starts at 4am bloody hell thats annoying

    • the switch one starts at 7am for the grey console and 7:30am for the neon one

      • +2

Which is 4am for me in WA

      • Do we know what the deal will be?

        • +1

Nope, which sucks because I really don't want to wake up at 4 for a maybe deal..

  • 5% off with suncorp app’s discounted gift cards

    • +1

If anyone has youi insurance, you can get 6.5% off jb hifi gift cards with the youi app.

      • Update: grabbed one in the morning. Came to $368.xx with gift cards. Worth it if you’re after mario kart 8 deluxe. Otherwise stick with amazon deal with shopback. 👍.

  • is it possible to get second hand switch (without game) for just under $300 ? doh, tight budget here

    • On Amazon Prime day they were going for $315 - so yes…?

      • just browsing gumtree, people are selling like $500-ish - with games

        • If your a Amazon Prime member their flash sale is at 7AM tomorrow so if you're willing to spend a little more (assuming it's $315 again) for brand new keep and eye out.

        • +1

I have seen some go with game for $350 and have made offers for $320 just that they were out of my location.

          • @Rigondeaux: hmm yeah probably everyone will sell 2nd hand with games.
i prefer 2nd hand ie early batch so they are hack-able

    • +1

I’d rather grab a new one for just over $300 tbh… Switch most of the time used by many people compared to ps or xbox which I personally don’t prefer when it comes to second hand.

      • Agree. I think Nintendo gear is pretty handy. Son still has his original GameCube, Wii and WiiU; all running perfectly fine still. All the various GameBoys etc. also. Fairly certain I paid about $300 for the Cube back in about 2000.

  • +2

Amazon has already matched down the price to $389 for just the switch, expect their deal to be a better one than this JB one

  • Argh. Just bought a switch stand alone console from JB on Monday and still unopened. I used JB gift cards from Telstra deals x 2x $200 vouchers. Would they let me return and buy this deal instead? Surely yes??

    • +1

I reckon they would if unopened

  • Thank you good sir! I used my Youi reward points to get 6.5% off JB hifi gift cards and then used it on this deal.
Effectively $364 with Mario Kart which was a game I was going to get

  • Cheers mate, just purchased!

    • Did the shopping cart mention the game at all? Seems to revert to just the console for me… Unless you get it after the fact!

      • I picked up mine via Click and Collect this morning. They said for online purchases the codes will be emailed out within the next few days.

      • I ordered online and picked up in store. They ended up emailing me the code for MK8D later that night at around 8PM.

  • Amazon AU $329 … using shopback 12% cashback and using amex card gets $15 back … with trs .. win!

  • +1

Managed to price match the Switch price from Amazon at my local JB and got the Mario Kart code too. Solid win!

    • $329 with the code?

      • update: no luck with my local JB store… the store manager reluctant to price match anything that's online.

    • that's a great win! so $329 with the code?

    • which store?

  • Think its sold out. I went to the JBhifi website and its error 404 page not found.

  • Spoke to staff and was told the offer has been pulled

  • Is been pull due to Mario kart code not printing (source:trying to buy one and the staff just told me)

  • So the neon is no longer available?

  • No longer available in store. Just went to Macquarie Park and Hornsby, both confirmed no longer available.
