  • Cashback calculation is wrong, you’ve included GST.

  • shopback has 10% capped at $50. Better to get it from there. #371.48 after cashback.
Best price I have seen so far unless I have missed some good deals during Black Friday. Surprisingly it was cheaper from Comp Alliance eBay. might be Aussie dollar.

Edit: coming $408 to me for some reason.

What is the good Mobo with this for gaming. Got Ram from NewEgg

    • +4

I’m considering ASUS b450 Strix or ASROCK.

    • +2

just purchased this from umart yesterday.

but now looking for decent ram as i finally decided to upgrade from ivy bridge 3770k

      • RAM from newegg is out of stock. Hope 3000 Mhz DDR4 has no issues with these Mobos.
Are you guys thinking to upgrade SSD to M2 NVM?

        • yeah ditched the 2.5" ssd and going with Samsung 970 evo 1tb

@strat: they're not easy to find either since the cashback came out

            • @JohnathonDoe: most stores should start getting stock next week.. some let you pre-order/backorder.

the promo ends dec 31st so hopefully i can grab one soon.

          • @strat: The Mobo you have got M2 NVME slot? Also does not specify 3000 Mhz RAM support.
Its quite confusing when details are not clear on site.

            How does this look: https://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/buy/asus-rog-strix-b350-f…
A bit cheaper and hope has all I need.

            • @EnALup: It has 2 x M.2 slots.

The board i purchased retailed months back around $550 its a clearance item some stores still have it listed around $400+ but if not OC or running water you can pick pretty much any board.

It will need a bios update for my 2700x and as for ram it again might be picky.. but nothing a bios update should hopefully fix.

  • I get a 2700X very close to launch for less than $400 if I remember correctly.

Prices have risen quite a bit the last few months. AUD is down.

  • Not to hate on the 2700X but you can just buy a 2700 and OC it to basically the performance of the 2700X. It a slightly lower binned part than OC's up to 2700X performance.

    TL;DR 2700x is 5.7% faster than a 2700 when both are overclocked. (n=1)

    • Not everyone knows or wants to overclock. Non the less thanks for detailed information!

    • 2700x has better cooler and worth extra spent along along with higher clock.

Is the cooler better than a decent after market? I thought people forking out for a 2700x would at least buy something like a noctua dh15 or cm 212

    • +1

2700X also has better clock scaling for 1-4 core workloads, but you'll have to figure out if you think that's worth $25-30 or not, unless a site wide 15% eBay code comes your way.

I'd suggest it's worth it unless you start seeing a 2700 for $330 or less (which has happened).

Noooooo I just bought a 2600X on eBay for $300 earlier today!

What a shame… Although I doubt I will notice a real world difference at all.

Unless you're compiling really big projects all the time using >12 threads, you won't.
      That's $108.48 saved :)

Been waiting for a while for a special. Very good Cyber Monday haul for me. Now only the big wait for my delivery.

Thanks, got one. Now I need to figure out what motherboard, PSU, GPU and case I want to use…

I paid a lot less for mine just after launch and I wasn't even bargain hunting. Why is this considered a deal?

    • +4

Time machines haven't been invented yet.

Look at the history at the camelcamelcamel link, you will find that since July, the 2700X had never been this low.

For those that weren't lucky enough to get whatever your incredible price at release was, this is quite the deal.
