It's currently on backorder, but I think this is worth waiting a few weeks for.

BH don't seem to charge GST which is a bit dodgy.

    It that a batman car?

  • What's with this "DUTIES & TAXES How would you like to pay?" part??

The only option is "I'll handle myself" and under are options. Even when I select one of the options the shipping is like 35bucks. Does that include duties/taxes?

It is for purchases over the $1000 limit. Australian customs have nothing to do with the "Harvey Norman Tax", and only care about the $1000 limit. Not all sellers are required to collect GST, until they reach a threshold of sales to Australia, and they have no obligation to reveal that information as they are outside of Australia's jurisdiction.

Ebay and Amazon were treated as a separate case and had legislation specifically created to force them to collect the tax. ebay do not collect GST if the seller lies and makes up an Australian address, which is how some of the Chinese sellers are able to sell on ebay without charging GST.

It would all be a joke if it were not for the blatant corruption that was a part of our theocratic system of government.

      • Thanks for the info! Very insightful 👍

  • Hi Does anybody know if you get charged (electronic import tax) from customs when this enters Australia ??

    • Just on a side Note I have used B&H Photo Video a lot prier to the introduction of the (electronic import tax)and never had a problem with them. Since the introduction of the (electronic import tax)I have no clue how it all works.

I am expecting a delivery from them tomorrow. Will let you know how it goes.

      • Thank you that would be great.

        • +2

Delivery finally came through, there were no additional charges. Just walked into the post office and grabbed it.

          • @v8o: thank very much for the update. :)

how delivery with this go ?

        • +1

No luck yet, stuck in Sydney apparently.

If the retailer doesn't charge GST for items under $1000 then it will get through. Borderforce will charge duties if over $1K ie. it uses the old rules.

If it had 80 on end Id get one :P

    • +15

      Yeah, I'd like a 1070 Ti80 as well :p

    • +3

Sure, the 80gb Ram version is coming out next week.

  • how much of a an improvement will this be over a 1050ti?

    • +1

      Roughly 150-200% better (2.5-3x faster)

      Source: https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-1070-Ti-vs-…

    • about double the performance of 1050 so it is a significant upgrade.

    • A massive leap.

    • But it needs 2 x additional power sockets … Is 1050 Ti the best low power GPU at the moment? i.e. no additional power needed just Mobo. limited to a 280W PSU.

      • i would say so. there is not any low spec RTX20*0 cards yet ie only the RTX2080 and RTX2070 (and ti versions)

  • I'm on the process of building a computer.. is this a good brand?

    • +2

Pretty middle of the pack, not as good as Asus or EVGA's best but priced accordingly.

    • They seem like good solid brand. I've heard a lot about them recently and they seem to be rising in popularity. They are definitely an established brand in their own right I'd say and should be a contender with the big boys soon.

    • Probably as good as MSI

  • +3

Price seems to have dropped to $358.99USD/$496.81AUD - Not including shipping for this one. AMP! Extreme at ~$30 more.

    • Keep in mind that the non-Ti version is a fair bit slower.

      • The difference is about 10-12%, i wouldn't call that a fair bit.

  • GPU userbenchmark shows big difference in performance between 1070 ti and 1080 compared to 1080 and 1080 ti. Good price if you were considering vega 56.
Still looking for sub $6XX price for vega 64.

  • Backorder??? Are they producing pascal cards anymore? Or is that just 1080ti?

  • -1

i went from a 970 to a 1080ti, not overly impressed tbh. cant notice much of a difference.

    • Really? I have a 970 myself and when I used PCs with 1080 TIs the FPS increases dramatically for every game I play.

    • My 980ti seems to outperform my mates 1080..

    • +1

You must have a serious issue with your PC.

    • 1080ti is a very decent card which has similar performance to 2070 as per reviews.Wondering if it is your CPU and RAM.

      • Yeah definitely sounds like a bottleneck

    • +1

      That's a good troll.
In the tiny off chance that it's not : your cpu is shit or something else in your computer is even more shit.

      • Pc is all brand new: i5 8600k etc. my resolution is at 1080p. The 970 looked pretty good, the 1080ti, doesnt look much better. Some games still stutter/lag at max settings, which i wasnt expecting.

        • You have a serious problem with your system brother idk what to say.

          • @Ostrk: Its ok. It does the netflix ok, which keeps me happy.

  • Found Gigabyte GTX 1070 Ti WINDFORCE on Gumtree for about the same price: https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-view-details.html?adId=11997924…

    • That's not a bad price. I have always been sceptical to buy things over $100 from GumTree.

  • Also worth noting that it comes bundled with Monster Hunter World and Fortnite Frenzy Game Bundle!

  • Is it worth it?

  • even cheaper now
