Found this Brita Water Filter Carafe from Big W on clearance from Big W a few days ago. It's $15 on the website and scans at this price, however the store I bought it from (Greenhills, NSW) still had the $30 tag on the shelf. It looks like Woolworths still have them for $30 too.

  Are brita water filters good for filtering out lead?

    Granulated carbon filters are basically useless for filtering lead, so the pitcher/jug filters are no good for this.

    Carbon block filters, as used in some whole-house and under-counter installations, are reasonably effective for filtering lead. Brita sell some of those in their "Professional Products" range, so….I guess technically yes?

  I had one of those and wouldn't recommend it. I think that the disc filter is just too small. I'm sure it filters out some of the bad stuff but the water still tastes pretty bad. I returned mine. The jug filters are much better.
