          Thanks. Updated now.

        • cheers!

  • the US site is most likely more than 10% cheaper than the UK site, so check booko first…

    • Indeed! I just did a comparison last night, Amazon UK with free shipping is the cheapest amongst all

      • most of the time, the US site is more than 10% cheaper than the UK site.. must have something to do with the $AUD

        eg
        http://booko.com.au/books/isbn/9780007158447

        • Yes per item price US is cheaper, but if you take shipping into account (Amazon UK has free shipping to AUS until end of May) then UK is cheaper

  • Thanks! Going to pick up a few things.
I've had a list and was just waiting for the next % off voucher :D

Code has been updated again by BD due to issues with the first.

  • someone please explain that exploit for me again :P

  • Where do you add the code?

EDIT: nvm, found the link http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/fb3104

  • what are people buying?? need a few books. still waiting on a book that shipped from them on 4th march though..

    • -1

email them and ask them where it is. they will offer you a refund or replacement. i waited i think 3 weeks for mine and i got refund. after they gave me a refund, two days later i received the book lol.

      • +1

        So what'd you do?
I was in the same situation once, I paid them back again.

      • +1

Their terms and conditions say to wait 30 days. This gives them ability to be reimbursed by Royal Mail - who are the ones actually at fault (and are known to be experiencing delays in Australia - particularly Melbourne - atm). Prevents BookDep losing money and the rest of us eventually having our prices jacked up on behalf of the impatient getting 'two for one's' or 'free books'.

Really wish their customer service folks would crack down on this; they're being too lenient to their own detriment. Point people to the terms and conditions and tell them to wait 30 days. More and more people seem to be going down this route of ripping them off atm.

Congrats leonheart1 on paying them back.

    • I'm in the same position for a uni textbook. Talked to a few friends (all who bought the same book from them at around the same time), and none of them have received it.

    • I ordered 2 books on 7 March and sent an email 27 March. This is the response I got:

… "Delivery to Australia is generally 7-10 working days, however we have been advised by one of our airline carriers that items travelling to Australia are experiencing delays of up to 10 days. We expect this situation to be resolved within the next 7 days. Therefore, please allow until 4th April for delivery" ….

I received 1 book yesterday but the other is still missing. When I talked to my local PO they told me that customs is opening a lot of parcels atm and creating delays.

  • amazon.co.uk guys before you do anything. supersaver free shipping for orders over 25quid easily beats a measily 10% off at BD.

    • +3

booko.com.au before you do anything! :P (Booko currently factors in amazon.co.uk's free super saver shipping offer when making price comparisons.)

It's pretty much impossible to predict which store is going to be cheapest for a particular book. Free shipping is good, but amazon.co.uk is still not necessarily cheaper than Book Depository. For a few of my recent purchases, amazon.co.uk was the 2nd or 3rd cheapest option even with free shipping.

    • +1

Especially true if your total order is over 25 pounds! Booko looks up shipping for INDIVIDUAL books, so remember to check the price for Amazon.co.uk further down the list.

It varies depending on the books you're buying, but out of 12 architecture/theory books I recently bought, 9 were cheapest at Amazon.co.uk. Two were cheapest at the US Book Depository, and the last was only cheapest at UK Book Depository because I had a 10% voucher. Otherwise it would have been 10/12 for Amazon.co.uk

The order, of course, totalled over 25 pounds.

      • Yep, for those books less than 25 pounds look for the Amazon UK price without the postage. I've found Amazon is thrashing BD on books with this new free postage offer.

  • Do I put the code FACE3104 in "Enter gift voucher, reward, or discount" when I'm paying by paypal?

I am having no luck. Can anyone please kindly telling me what I'm doing wrong?

EDIT: Just realised there is no coupon code field for the bookdepository US site. When I switch to the UK site, there is a coupon code field in the basket section of the UK site and I can happily enter it there. I'm therefore assuming discount is only for UK site?

    • +1

Did you enter through this link? http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/fb3104

      • I went to the US site because it is a bit cheaper. In my case, AUD $68 worth of books versus $72 in the UK. I believe having tried it that I can't use that coupon in the US site.

But yes, the coupon code in the UK site works fine.

    • Book Depository UK and US typically have separate promotions and codes that can only be used at their respective sites.

  • The code works fine on either site.

But you HAVE TO ENTER THROUGH the referral link!

    http://www.bookdepository.com/fb3104
    or
    http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/fb3104

Otherwise you don't get the option to enter the coupon code at the basket/checkout page (BEFORE payment)

  • Which ships faster?
    bookdepository.co.uk or bookdepository.com?
Or do they ship from the same place?

    • +1

All the orders I have received from both .uk and .com have come mostly as individual books in their own packaging at various times between 7 and 14 days after the order so it's likely that they have books in warehouses all over the place and just drop ship them as needed. Bottom line, yes, they probably ship from the same place(s).

  • Don't need any books at the moment but I can recommend these guys 100%. I've ordered from the US store a couple of times and it takes around 7-10 days from the shipping date to arrive. Always packaged well and in excellent condition.

    • OMG totally forgot Tina Fey had a book coming out. Just pre-ordered it and used the coupon. Big thanks.

  • Thanks worked well :-)

    • It's expired now.

A shame, I ordered 4 books Wed night, came back to order 2 more and saw it was done.
