Why is this phone still so expensive?

    • +2

I got mine a couple of months after it came out and it still runs like new! So definitely still a good option if you can get it cheap enough. But the S10 rumours are looking goooooooood.

But agreed, should be a lower than this now.

      • I got the s8plus refurb from here from a reseller $550
perfect stop-go for me before I go for the s10 ;)

      • What's the S10 rumors

I still have use S6 by battery life is an issue for me. I have to keep it charged all the time and it will run flat within 2-3hours

4 months away from the S10. Save your money.

    • The s10 will probably be $1000+

      • Definitely $1000+, I think the point of the comment is that there will be better sales on around that time.

        • I bought my S6 for 630ish when it first came out.

Now all current gen brand new smartphones are $800+. Why the big increase year on year????

New model Car prices don't increase year on year.

@Homr: Partly because they can (comparable other flagships, apple etc), partly the AUS dollar being weak, partly increased demand for parts (especially screens). Also - by having high base prices they have high gross margins, which allows them to have on release discounts and bundling with service providers.

But the summary is people still buy it and they make heaps of money. Why would you NOT have big increases year on year? You stop when people stop buying them.

      • I'm not advocating to buy the s10. I'm saying that when s10 is out. You could get the s9 cheaper or this phone for even cheaper. This price is too high for AUS stock.

Spend only a little more if that and get the s9

    • Did consider that, but the battery life is worse, no?

      • Quick google reveals s9 lasts a little longer but not much between them so battery life shouldn't be the deciding factor

Or add $300 if you managed to get Note 9 from Officeworks, using price beat guarantee against becextech…

  • This phone shud tops be 600 or even in the 500s considering the s9,plus and the note 9 are all ahead of the pack and now shortly the s10.

  • mine works great but battery life is bad with recent updates. might need to replace a battery

  • S9 is better, add a bit more and you get a S9+ which has been really good for me.
