  • Sec Camera noob here.
Would this be a good product to use for our 2 level 3BD townhome please? Just need good coverage on the front of the property and the rear.
So can this be used outdoors? We could add one indoor as well if it is possible.

Any issues I could have with this? and Any key features its missing?

    • I have the same thought for the same property. Was saying to my wife the other day if I saw a good price I'd grab it

      • Hmm….will be great to get some advice here.

Also wondering what resolution 3MP would be? 1080p or higher?

        • +2

          2mp = 1080p
          3mp = 2048x1536 - which is a 4:3 aspect ratio

I personally opt for multiples of 2mp (2mp, 4mp, 8mp etc) in order to keep a 16:9 aspect ratio, this is down to personal preference though.

You can use these Swann cam's outdoors with their IP66 rating. I'm a little bit biased though and steer away from Swann and opt for either Hikvision or Dahua .

        • Thanks for your enquiry.

3MP is the higher than 1080p.

          3MP Super HD (2048 x 1536 pixels)
          1080p (2MP - 1920 x 1080)

          Hope this helps

    • Hello There,

Yes this is appropriate for townhouse. The cameras are IP66 rated, suited for both indoor & outdoor.

We strongly recommend seeking advise from your local electritian.

For peace of mind feel free go through the reviews for this product.

      Hope this helps

  • How long is this on sale for? cant get till next week.

    • It expires Monday 3rd of December.

The maximum resolution for HDCVI is 1080p. Where is this CCTV system getting the extra 1MP from?

  • Hi Rep,

Are there any other products on half price? Like 4 cameras option instead of 6 or 8?

    • Hi There,

Thanks for your enquiry. Currently no other units are at half price.

We have a few 1080p units on sale. We also have refurbished units on sale up to 35% off, with a 12 month warranty.

  • CVI is one version of Analogue High Definition technology, but not the one that this system uses. Our camera sensors record at 2048 x 1536 pixels (3 Megapixel). In the market there are DVRs that now record all the way up to 4K in Analog HD, from a number of brands.

    • CVI is one version of Analogue High Definition technology, but not the one that this system uses.

So this isn't HDCVI. Then it must either be TVCVI or AHD. The retail versions of these two also max out at 1080p.

      4K in Analog HD,

4K and more do exist, but these systems are aimed at commercial users. Their price range is way outside of what common consumers would spend on CCTV.

      • Technology has advanced for analogue CCTV and new compression made it possible to go higher mp than what it used to be.

        • What I'm interested in is the analog technology they use. Be it HDCVI, TVCVI or AHD.

          • @whooah1979: AHD only does 1080p, both HDCVI 3.0 & HDTVI 3.0 do 5MP which is why you will notice Swann provide up to 5mp camera using Coaxial connection, But their 4K (UHD) cameras are ethernet, as the resolution is beyond the V3.0 standard

Make sure you read a few reviews before committing to Swann. There is better tech out there, I would say 50% off brings these down to their true value, so not a bad deal.

    Hi Rep
Would you consider doing 50% off on the 4K? Interest to try out

    • +1

There were 5mp 8 cam system was for half price.& With PoE.

      • That's 5mp it's Super HD, I am after 8mp Ultra HD (4K)

      Hi There,

We just had some classic deals at 50% during Black Friday / Cyber Monday.

Right now this security system is the only one in our range that is at 50% off.

Moving into mid December we'll have a sale on 4K systems perhaps worth looking out for.

      • Look forward to a deal for one based on IP cameras that don't require wiring for power.

  • Hi OP,

Does Swann offer a professional home installation service for their security cameras? I bought a set of Swann security cameras and wired doorbell intercom system a few weeks ago and would not mind paying a few extra dollars to have these professionally installed.

    • Have look on airtasker.

    • Same, looking for someone to install for reasonable price. I am afraid the cost to install will more expensive than the system by itself

    • Hi There,

We can recommend preferred installers who are very familar & regularly updated with Swann security products.

Please contact our office on 03 8412 4600 for further details.

  • No deals on the Google assistant versions?

And can you upgrade the cameras later, to 4k etc. And keep the same dvr?

  • +2

packed with the latest CCTV tech, such as weatherproof cameras, night vision,

haha! It s like the 22nd century already.
I think "latest tech" does not include analog-style coax cables.

Specs do not even say if analog or digital, and sample image has gone 404.

    • +1

      Cable Type: BNC (DVR)

It's analog which is ok for the price. What isn't ok is that the store have chosen to not disclosure that this CCTV is an analog system.

      • There are also digital systems which use coax with bnc. But newer ones use Ethernet. Actually, I remember when Ethernet was coax and BNC connectors.

  • How do the cameras get power, Is thee coaxial cable for the video paired with power cable?

  • +1

I would go for the POE NVR models with better cameras:

    https://www.swann.com/au/swnvk-874504 $599 save $700

    or

    https://www.swann.com/au/swnvk-874504d $599 save $700

    or

    https://www.swann.com/au/swnvk-875804b2fb $849 save $850

All are 50% off or greater. As mentioned above, I think they are good value when discounted like this (but not so much at RRP)

    • Hi There,

These offers are no longer available. All stock has ran out.

      Kind Regards,

  • Security Camera noob here, do I need to have an electrician install the cameras? I'm assuming they'll need to somehow wire them into a power source, or can I just have them sitting in windows connected to a powerpoint?

    • Hi There,

This system will require an electrician. Its a wired system that requires power. We can recommend preferred installers who are very familar & regularly updated with Swann security products.

Please contact our office on 03 8412 4600 for further details.

  • Viewing angle only 64 degrees? …

  • Code no longer valid already?

    • Hello There,

      Could you please try again.

      The code should work.

      Offer expires midnight tonight.

      Kind Regards,

  • code is still working :) ordered 1, thanks OP.
