  • I just don't get why these things are so damned expensive.

$200 RRP for a portable radio is just ridiculous.

    • low demand since analogue still works and many people now just stream from the internet…

      • +1

Lack of coverage outside major cities meaning car use is not extensive or demanded. There is same programming on many AM & FM stations as DAB & lack of promotion for added digital stations, so little use… And low sampling rate means many report better sound on FM.

        Poor demand…
And poor timing after delays introducing DAB+ with many people adopting streaming as data became cheap.

Written while SBS CHILL playing on a Kmart DAB radio which made me a profit of $1.

        ^^ Wot 'e said ^^

And DAB reception is crap. And DAB radios mostly don't have AM.

    • So irate😉
      Have been deals on cheapies:
      Target $10, Kmart $9, Amazon $29, Aldi & Target
Best was from old Dick Smith $13 for a quality Sangean DPR65 (reduced from $120) & DPR-44 $29
Using the Kmart, Target & Sangean DPR65.

All lacked much volume for room use, buttons can be a bit difficult for older users used to AM, quickly drain batteries, etc.

  • I have a DAB+ radio. I like it FWIW.

Combine this cashback with David Jones AMEX cashback (i.e. spend $200, get $30 back) and you can get some stuff close to 40% off all up (ie. Pure Siesta Rise Bedside $199.99 - $50cb -$30 AMEX = $120).

    • Only available online though …

  • You cant even find most of the models in the cash back range through the links that Pure provide on the promo page?

  • i live my bush dab radio, but it also has internet radio ..alas bush radio no.onger on market.

logan used to do a $125 dab and internet radio ….love it and still going strong.

i think $100 for dab and no internet radio and not stereo is a bit stretch for value.

  • How long does the cashback take to come through?

    • Good question - it doesn't say.
